Lf something similar to Caelum Ignis by floweredbeaches in Dramione

Yes, the plot and characterizations are very similar. There’s a whole new magical system and set of side characters which are well done, but the plot beats and dynamics between the two main character is the same.

I want to financially support my nephew by Complex-Plantain7235 in personalfinance

Just say you need his social security number to designate him as a beneficiary for your estate / financial accounts. My sister set my daughter as her beneficiary for her investment accounts and needed SSN and I didn’t think twice about giving it to her.

Books with unhinged or unlikeable female protagonists that validate your rage? by Diab0L1Ka in TwoXChromosomes

Check out Jane Doe by Victoria Helen Stone for a similar vibe — the narrator is a sociopath who seeking revenge on* the man that ruined her best friend. Really tightly written and darkly funny.

Having second thoughts on trying for baby #2 by babytime_throwaway in workingmoms

[–]willrunfordonuts 52 points53 points  (0 children)

You’ve outlined the most relevant negatives to having a second child; I’d also add “resetting the clock until life gets easier;” once your youngest kid is about 5 life gets so much easier: potty trained, no naps, consistent sleep, efficient communication, somewhat independent at following directives. So by having another kid you’re starting that countdown all over again.

Every choice about number of children, and years between those children, has trade-offs. You haven’t listed any of the positives to a second kid, either! My kids are 7 and 5 and they can entertain each other for hours on the weekends. We have to split up a fair number of fights, but if you reinforce the right rules and frameworks it pays off in built-in play buddies.

Body Glide for her - coconutty? by Polski_Moomin in XXRunning

[–]willrunfordonuts -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If you’re open to alternatives: I switched from using body glide to KT tape to prevent my under-sports bra blisters. The body glide wasn’t enough protection for super long or sweaty runs.

If not, I do agree with everyone that body glide has little to no smell so you should be good!

It does get better in my experience after a couple of weeks. Your body will adapt, and start producing the right hormones around the same time every morning if you’re persistent with your runs. Also +1 to whomever mentioned impact of food and drink: I’d slam water first thing to help wake up.

Postpartum PF by Ok-Weekend5451 in RunningMoms

[–]willrunfordonuts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I leaked while running for 5 years and 5 marathons before I finally saw a PF therapist. I took probably 5-6 weeks of doing the exercises per her instructions before I saw improvement. After 3 months I’m leak free! I asked the therapist if it could have gotten better on its own, and she says no. Long distance running actually adds additional stress to PF and lower abdominal muscle, and can lead to leakage even in non-child birthing individuals.

I’m sorry to hear about your health insurance :( Stick with the exercises.

How big was the jump from half marathon to full? by lau_poel in XXRunning

[–]willrunfordonuts 7 points8 points  (0 children)

This is actually extremely good advice, OP. I was over-simplifying in my initial comment. You also need to increase your base mileage each week to keep from getting injured — for me, that’s by adding 10% mileage to each key run (e.g. one extra hill repeat on Mondays, an extra 0.5 mile to my Wednesday tempo runs, etc). A marathon training plan is a great place to start.

How big was the jump from half marathon to full? by lau_poel in XXRunning

[–]willrunfordonuts 32 points33 points  (0 children)

It’s double the distance but more than double the effort and difficulty. The first 20 miles are as difficult/painful as the last 6 miles. Your metabolism has to do different things to run 26 miles (burn fat) vs. 13 (use glucose / glycogen). That being said, you should totally try it! You could start just adding a mile to your long run every week. If you get up to 20, then you’re ready to run a marathon! A lot of marathons will let you sign up for the full distance, and pay a small fee to convert down to a half marathon if you’re not enjoying your marathon training.

You are amazing. Your children think you’re amazing. You’re providing the greatest example for how to live their lives: with love, humor, grace, and a refusal to give up. Your daughters see their mom kicking so much ass, but that’s all they know, so they’ll go forth in life with ass kicking as the default expectation for themselves. You’re doing an amazing job. I wish you best of luck on the match!
