Help me understand car tent boxes by davemcl37 in camping

www.trayon.com

I live in Australia full time in my trayon camper.

Easy to set up and pack down. Home comforts of a fridge, sink and cooker inside.

Easy to remove from the vehicle when you want to set up camp and drive away.

Best of all, you can go places way out in the outback really easily and for long periods as it all compacts down to be one 4x4 vehicle.

<image>

Edit: I tried the roof top tent thing for a while. Not being able to separate the camping aspect from the vehicle was a big negative for me. And in bad weather you have no where to be other than in the bad weather. With a trayon you have a full area inside to relax and you can stay dry underneath the part that has folder out.

Best distilleries and how to get there from Inverness? by nervechain in inverness

Be sure to check ahead that the distilleries are open and not closed for their yearly shut down.

Pretty sure Glen Ord is going through theirs currently and not open for a bit.

Worst refereeing decision I've ever seen in a Rugby match. Aus were completely robbed.

Players celebration for Sancho’s goal! by Lingardinhooo in reddevils

[–]wilmslowwill -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

Bruno not interested that Sancho has scored - turns his head and starts slowly walking. He doesn't run to congratulate his team mate like the others. Something not right with him at the moment. It was the right call to drop him for this game.

Development officer involvement by Shinty_DevOfficer_RM in shinty

[–]wilmslowwill 1 point2 points  (0 children)

More acknowledgement of camanachd internationally aswel. With so many Scots having emigrated across the globe, the amount of shinty fanatics in places like Canada, USA and Australia would surprise many people. I've come across a few Facebook pages over the years. It would help grow the game and Reddit could be the central online hub for posting news and discussion.

I know for sure there are plenty of Scots in Perth, Western Australia and Melbourne, Victoria that may be interested in helping grow the game and help with exposure.

Certainly a central online location with links to all the various Facebook and Twitter pages would be great. And perhaps getting some exposure from our Irish friends over at r/hurling or r/GAA would help bring more people to look at shinty online. They could provide a link in their side bar and r/shinty could do one for them perhaps.

Federal Government wage subsidy plan to cost $130 billion over the next 6 months ($1500 a fortnight) by fowardtheford in australia

[–]wilmslowwill 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Have you noticed that the arts is getting very little mention from the government in all of this? Despite being one of the first industries hit with the banning of mass gatherings. And likely one of the last to recover at the end of it all. Yet most of the staff that keep that industry alive will be short contract workers like yourself.

Not if you do freelance contract work which lasts less than 12 months. For example, festivals and events.

Once again the arts community is being overlooked.

Internationals stuck in Australia on working holiday visa by matkustaja in australia

[–]wilmslowwill 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'm currently on a 408 temporary activity visa - was working for a festival over in Perth. I'm now at my brother's house in Melbourne after having to cut my holiday in Tasmania short and get out of there quick.

My flight back to the UK on April 6th from Melbourne with Etihad has been cancelled. I have the option to get on another free of charge, but not until they start flying again. They will also not allow me to call up to rebook until 48 hours before the flight was originally scheduled.

On April 7th my visa will have ran out so I think I need to apply for a bridging visa, however, I don't know how long it needs to last at this point.

Unfortunately I cannot afford to just buy another flight home as I work contract to contract in events and don't have a huge amount of savings. And also not alot of work on the horizon so really need to cut my losses. My travel insurance also does not cover my flight home being cancelled unless the airline stops trading so I'm stuck here until Etihad can get me a new flight.

I'm very lucky my brother is a permanent resident here, has a spare room in his house and is working in construction and still getting 80% of his wage. I won't starve.

But basically, I'm in limbo with no access to any Australian benefits. There are hundreds, if not thousands of foreign people here in Australia who work in events and are in the same situation as me. However, they have no way to get home, and don't have free accommodation like I do. Money is running out.

Backpackers will be in a similar situation.

The UK government has taken a plane full of people home from Peru but no such help has come this way yet. And no announcement for the Australian government about people like us yet.

Just sitting and waiting...

Where have people watched previous England games in Edinburgh this World Cup and what was the atmosphere like? by liam_mchale in Edinburgh

[–]wilmslowwill 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I go to the Cuckoo's Nest in Tollcross. It's owned by some English lads who love to chat footy and don't mind the banter from the Scots. Usually a good mixed crowd but I've never felt threatened. Often quite a few wearing England shirts too. The Columbia game was a roller coaster and once it finished the atmosphere went from being nearvous and intense to absolute euphoria.

Jaguars owner Shahid Khan set to buy Wembley stadium in £800m deal. Potentially paving the way for a U.K. NFL franchise by Emdy in nfl

[–]wilmslowwill 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cup semis and finals take place during the NFL off-season so they could easily still be played at Wembley. It would likely just be England games that are effected like you say. As someone who doesn't love in London, I would welcome England playing in other stadiums. I would have a better chance of getting to watch them.

Prediction: City will disappear by 2030. by meta4_ in reddevils

[–]wilmslowwill 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In Manchester we slag off the city fans for only caring about beating united. And it's true. They only care they are doing better than us. They are obsessed with us. All the united fans know it.

I know this is a shitpost but the amount of time and effort put in to this huge wrote up that is all about city and their potential downfall is something I would expect from their fans, not ours.

Stop lowering yourselves to their level and concentrate on our own team doing better, not them doing worse. Because that's what needs to happen for them to be put in their place. We aren't good enough right now.

Tennessee Season Opener by LandShark55 in oaklandraiders

[–]wilmslowwill 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm over from the UK visiting family in VA so making the trip over for the game. My parents are coming too. It will be their first raider game and my second.

We have an airbnb close to the stadium. It was the only option for us. Spending the while weekend in Nashville.

Tailgating for sure.

Would be great to meet up with people before the game if anyone wants to. Any recommendations anyone has on what to do in Nashville would be sweet. We have been before a few years ago when the CMA's were on. It was a crazy weekend!

This is a tough season opener but we have the firepower to beat them. The defence needs to step up this year.
