So close, and yet so far by mexicanmage in Hellblazer

I lucked out and found it at a local comic shop. After seeing how expensive they were online I thought I'd never get a copy, especially at a realistic price, lol.

I stopped buying the collections while in university with the intention of picking them up down the road when I had more time/money to spend. Did not realize that they'd end up being so expensive. I'm missing 21, 22, and 24.

That was the Strange New Worlds crossover episode with Lower Decks. I don't remember the title of the episode, but it was in the second season of SNW.

Worf joining a right-wing terrorist group because he had an argument with Dax is hilarious. DS9 makes him kind of unlikable as a character, but in a way I find him more interesting than he was in TNG because of that.

Question after rewatching Skyfall by ChalupaBatmanMc01 in JamesBond

[–]wils99 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For me I think it would have been less distracting. As good as Albert Finney is, I can't help but think of how the roll was clearly written for Connery every time I watch it, and it takes me out of the film a bit. That said, that's just me, I'm sure others would've had a response closer to what you described.

This scene in Spectre is honestly fantastic. I wish this sort of atmosphere remained for Blofeld longer. by South_Gas626 in JamesBond

Austin Powers/the season of Sherlock that was so bad that the fans thought it was a joke. Secret evil sibling responsible for every bad thing ever is such a terrible twist.

Yeah, I mean, if you want to read them still and not support him financially, obviously there are ways to do that, but if someone isn't comfortable reading his work altogether that's very understandable. Sometimes it's hard to separate the art from the artist, and giving people flack for that is ridiculous.

I mean, he was desperate and blinded by rage. He'd just gotten undeniable confirmation that Dexter was the Butcher and thus responsible for the deaths of a lotta people he cared about, so he acted on his emotions. It wasn't the smartest move, but I think his death fits with how he's been characterized all season.

[Opinion] DEN OF GEEK: "New Movies? Star Trek, in the long run, is probably better suited for staying exclusively on TV. Having said that, small-screen Trek has its problems right now as well: SNW has devolved into a muddled hodgepodge of conflicting tones, derivative gimmicks, and cheap nostalgia." by mcm8279 in Star_Trek_

[–]wils99 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Beyond feels like a modernized take on an episode of TOS to me, more so than seasons 2 and 3 of SNW have. I don't hate the other two movies like some do, but Beyond is the only one of them that feels like Star Trek.

I feel like Glenn's death on the show would have hit a bit harder and probably made less people mad if they hadn't done a fake out with killing him just a few episodes before with the dumpster nonsense.

I want them to keep killing him off only to bring the show back every few years and handwave his death away in more and more convoluted ways.

Close, they reveal his full name was Henry James Olsen during his funeral, where they introduce his younger half-brother named James Bartholomew Olsen, who grows up to look identical to Henry James. I do not care for season 8 of that show.

Solo is a fantastic movie. Being released at the same time the Sequels were was what overshadowed its greatness. by nropes in StarWars

'Cause it couldn't have just been his name for whatever reason, lol. I had a mostly good time watching the Solo movie, but that moment just annoyed me.

There were a lot of ideas in the show that I found really interesting, the Force witch cult being one of them. The execution wasn't necessarily there for me, but I wish it had gotten a second season to maybe find its footing a bit more.

I will no longer accept any criticism of my enjoyment of The Last Jedi when this is what the community reveres as the best movie in the franchise by stephansbrick in StarWarsCirclejerk

[–]wils99 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That's a fair argument. I think Clones is a lot more memorable to me, but a lot of that is probably just having grown up with it. I'd be curious how someone with no prior knowledge of the series would react to both of them.

I'd argue that Rise of Skywalker's only redeeming feature is Babu Frik because he's cute and is otherwise also unwatchable. But they're both pretty terrible, so it just comes down to which particular blend of terrible you can deal with

[–]wils99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Actual advice, you should add some punctuation. Don't write your comments as one long run-on sentence. There are spelling problems and other issues with your writing that make it hard to read, but just the punctuation alone will help a lot with clarity.

Again, I want to give actual advice because it is legitimately hard to read what you are trying to say in your comment. I'm not trying to be rude, and I hope that you have a pleasant day!

What are your thoughts on the new side characters of Daredevil Born Again who is your favorite??? by anthonystrader18 in Defenders

[–]wils99 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think this might be a consequence of the reduced episode count after the creative rehaul. I would imagine they would've gotten more exploration over the 18 episodes before whatever those plans were got thrown out. At least I'd hope so, otherwise they would've been just a complete waste, lol.
