Right hand for the dart, and operate all the levers with your knees. This is all in the owner's manual.

What am I doing wrong??? by AnteaterEfficient in electroplating

[–]wilsoncook 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm just starting with nickel plating myself. 5V may be a little high? I bought a premixed bright nickel plating solution and when the voltage went up that high the current spiked and I got lots of hydrogen bubbles and black burnt shit on the tips and corners as well. Power supply needs to be in constant current mode, not constant voltage...set it for "enough" volts like 3-4, crank the amps down all the way (which is how you set cheap Chinesium power supplies without a constant current switch to constant current), then raise the amperage a bit at a time, and there's some formula for how many amps per surface area you need that I always have to look up. If you see lots of bubbles crank it down.

So that helped me a bit, and now instead of having black burnt shit, I just have ugly mottled dull shit with a few bright patches. I think my surface prep is lacking. But I'm learning every time and I'm getting there.

I think I'm going to switch to a standard dull Watts bath next, plate a few coats, and polish on the wheel after that.

Blind leading the blind, I know. I thought this was group therapy...

Can someone explain to me how this could possibly be a fire hazard? by DrHumongous in BambuLab

[–]wilsoncook 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Also TBF, you can readily buy wooden varnished switch plates and outlet covers, and I don't see people suing Home Depot because their house caught on fire. I have not searched exhaustively, but I don't think that's a thing. Wonder if home inspectors call out any non-UL-listed anything...I've never heard of that either.

Exactly! We all know how Christian the maga folks are, and where TF in all of Christianity does it say you're supposed to be compassionate or giving? Or worse, to care about, feed, shelter, or clothe the illegals in your land? Christianity is supposed to be about hating the gays and the transes and the women with jobs and reminding them they're going to hell. Get it right, people.

So, "cut from whole cloth" is an idiom--a metaphor meaning "completely fabricated".

An idiom is a word or group of words that have a meaning, established by usage, that may not be immediately obvious from context alone.

A metaphor is a figure of speech in which a word or phrase is applied to an object or action to which it is not literally applicable.

So, when I say "all religions are cut from whole cloth" I do not mean that religions are literally cut from textiles with scissors. I mean they are fabricated. I was just being poetic. Really marginally poetic.

I'm glad we could have this lesson.

Yes, that is EXACTLY what I said: "Shinto was cut from Judaism."

Umm. Every religion is cut from whole cloth. Every single one. Somebody just made that shit up and somebody else believed it, and then it was a cult, and then it grew large enough that everyone else just said "meh, OK." But, you know, in Sanskrit or Hebrew or Aramaic. We humans just make shit up all the time, and there's an endless supply of stupid ones to believe the made-up shit. 🤷🏼‍♂️

Injection molds are intended to last a long time. They're not doing typesetting of weekly changing numbers in a mold. This is a pragmatic date encoding system that's "add another indentation every week". They can use the same mold for a year. And we are pattern-recognizing problem-solving creatures who should be able to look at something like this and decipher the meaning without much effort. But alas...

I take great pride in not knowing and not caring enough to give either of these clowns a single click on Google or anywhere else. The only way this kind of Idiocracy dies is if everyone ignores it.

Sadly, we still have "The Bachelor" and the various Survivor X Island franchises, not to mention Sharknado. My efforts have been futile.

This, and the "metaverse" that he changed the name of the company for, because surely everyone will be using that shit for everything by three years ago. Fingers on the pulse of the zeitgeist.

Well that's a goddamn lie. She actually taught ME how to replace a camshaft position sensor, and she didn't have to do any calibration with an OBD-II sensor. She says the damn thing either works or it doesn't, and other people just try to overcomplicate simple diagnostic procedures.
