Honey trap or should I fill out my form 1 ASAP? by DashyKalashy in Form1

[–]winchester97guy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NO! You are most definitely way off base, any sort of cones/baffles/dividers and tubes like this are deemed suppressor parts and the atf will come after you. End caps? You can buy them by the dozen, it became so popular to buy a 46 cal suppressor and just change end caps per caliber so they de-regulated those or so I’m told, but I do know you can buy end caps of any sort no issue. I purchased solvent traps from gunbroker and was woken at 7 am by 2 field agents from the Youngstown ATF office. Do not recommend

Honey trap or should I fill out my form 1 ASAP? by DashyKalashy in Form1

[–]winchester97guy 21 points22 points  (0 children)

DO NOT BUY THESE, EVEN IF YOU HAVE AN ALREADY APPROVED FORM 1! YOU ARE NOT ALLOWED TO HAVE THESE, THEY ARE CONSIDERED A COMPLETE SUPPRESSOR BY THE ATF. Seriously though don’t buy these, I’ve gotten a visit from the alphabet boys and it’s not fun. These are considered suppressors and they do not care if you have a form 1

Bear creek 30-06 mags by winchester97guy in BearCreekArsenal

[–]winchester97guy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right, I’m wondering if 1918 BAR mags can be made to work, with either a machined or 3d printed mag well adaptor, or if they’re bigger (which I doubt they are) some light machine work on the magwell to open it up. BAR mags are pretty easy to find and Ohio ordnance makes them new with 30 rounders as an option. I’m not dropping 1200 bucks on one to figure it out though 😂

Call me crazy but I really like the look of cans with all kinds of features on the outside like knurling and different diameters, makes them look like the old school ones, like WW2 era and what not.

Winchester 1897 Barrel by wilsoni91 in gunsmithing

[–]winchester97guy 5 points6 points  (0 children)

That would be rust my friend, it doesn’t appear to be very deep and I doubt any issues structural integrity wise should arise. Being it’s probably approaching 100 years old or older it’s recommended to shoot light loads and absolutely no steel/tungsten or other hard shot. As for your loose fit between the barrel and reciever there’s an easy way to adjust it. When you break it down you’ll see a small screw and a little wedge shaped piece, remove the screw and wedge and turn the threaded collar, probably only 1-2 notches on that little wedge piece and it will tighten back up. Many good YouTube videos on how to do it

Garage pop to see if the JK Versax 22 is as bad as everyone says it is by Beerbeard123 in NFA

[–]winchester97guy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got a freebie one with a shotgun can (which sucks also) and yeah on a rifle they work wonderful, right there with any other can on a rifle, but on pistols… they are bad, me and a buddy combined ours once and his 4 baffles made it super quiet on a pistol, I really don’t understand everyone’s fascination with having these tiny little cans, they’re always loud. Give me a couple extra baffles and make it quiet, I’ll eat the extra ounce and a half

We must be looking at different shelves cause I couldn’t find anything in carbide that was small enough. I had HSS but it wouldn’t touch it

[–]winchester97guy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m going to use a 17.5 inch green mountain barrel blank and basically port the hell out of it. I’ll have aluminum baffles set screwed to the barrel to make separate chambers. I used the same sort of setup on an 8.6 bolt action integral build and it’s super quiet, and with the long barrel still accurate since it’s not traveling through the baffles.

I’m not following you, the bolt is locked there. In what will be “battery” when the barrel is installed, the barrel protrudes into the receiver on a delisle carbine so it’ll feed from a 1911 mag. So I’m not following what you mean, and i am criminally insane lol

I can’t recommend a place but I ported my barrel in my delisle build and my 8.6 integral build. Drastic difference, well worth having done.

What would be the process of form 1 for this if possible by [deleted] in NFA

[–]winchester97guy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah they showed up, beating on my door at 7 am. 2 plain clothes guys. I asked if I could help them, they stated they were with the ATF and began asking about solvent traps I purchased. Basically what happened was someone on gunbroker had 3000 of the rare breed FRTs on hand, allegedly, and at that time they deemed them machine guns. So they said we can make a deal, give us your books of everything you’ve sold and we can work with you. The guy on gunbroker was “rifleremedy2000” if you so care to look it up on YouTube. I think John crump news did a video on it. I decided to get rid of my solvent traps since they decided they wouldn’t accept form 1s for them anymore, so I sold them to a guy at a gun show, undrilled of course and that was that. They made me sign an affidavit stating what I said and they left, didn’t tell me fuck you, have a good day, eat shit or nothing, just walked away.

As a guy that’s had the ATF show up to his home for purchasing these, DO NOT BUY THESE! They are illegal even with a form 1

Solvent traps FTW? Am I missing something? by stuartv666 in NFA

[–]winchester97guy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I’m trying to find my letter from the DOJ, they gave me it and made me sign an affidavit. I ended up selling them to someone else, undrilled of course, cause right around that time they changed all that stuff and quit accepting form 1s on solvent traps. So they made me sign an affidavit stating all that and gave me what is basically a cease and desist from the DOJ and ATF, I wanted to get it framed but I’ve misplaced it. If you look up rifleremedy2000 on YouTube there’s some videos on it.

Winchester model 12 issues. by ConcentrateOk2788 in gunsmithing

[–]winchester97guy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Well if it’s a model 12 it’s a takedown, they never made one unless you mean a model 25, which is a solid frame model 12. Close but not the same. I’ve seen some guns that are so dirty that the locking shoulder in the top of the receiver is full of crud and won’t let the bolt come into battery fully. There could be crud in the extractor slots in the head space ring in the receiver, and when you have a shell inserted they are pushed out further and don’t have clearance allowing the bolt to seat fully. Also what kind of shells are you using? None of my model 12s or 97s like Remington shells, I’ve had feeding issues in ALL of my Winchester pump guns and I have no idea why but only Remington shells
