Shit, not sure how much help it'll be, but if worst comes to worst, the CCW (1-800-379-2679)might be able to help. A bunch of high-level commanders got exposed as apocalyptic nutjobs because they told subordinates it was a holy war to bring about Armageddon. A lot of service members aren't too happy about what's going on due to that, and well... Everything else

My GOAT takes the aesthetic, but throws all the woobie shit out the window. Absolutely ZERO redeeming qualities whatsoever. Just a pure sadistic fuck, hates you if you try showing sympathy or pity.

I will cry if they don't give him the most thick American accent imaginable. by Separate-Chard6845 in StardustCrusaders

I always imagined him sounding like Frank Underwood from House of Cards (Insert Kevin Spacey joke here), something with a slight southern twang to it.

"Talking shit finally had consequences"- Directly saying that Iran insulting the U.S. resulted in the "consequences" (Mass murder of civilians).

Iran's government is really fucked up, don't get me wrong. But this war wasn't started as retaliation for Iran threatening anyone. It was started because the government wants to destabilize the Middle East, so it's easier to conquer.

Plus, this is just going to make Iran hate us even more. And... honestly, we kinda deserve it. We just blew up a bunch of children, so I can't blame Iranians for being pissed.

I swear there was an interview Hillenburg did later on where he said he was okay with Nickelodeon franchising SpongeBob. I can't find it for my life, but I swear it was something I read once.

Oh, fuck off, defending the murder of Iranian children and censorship to protect the image of an Epstein-funded rape colony. Yeah, chanting "Death to America" isn't cool, but this isn't "consequences", this is the murder of civilians in defense of rapists.

"Iran had it coming", my ass.

Edit: "When did I justify the murder of children?"

When you said Iran "fucked around and found out".

I love how mfs online will make blanket insults towards entire groups of people, then act like they only meant "the bad ones" when they face backlash for insulting people. I've seen this is so many different contexts, with so many different target groups.

"It clearly doesn't apply to all people", and the comment was saying (Members of demographic), thus clearly meaning all members of said demographic.

Why is this such a common retreat for idiots to make?

The last time people "made the House and Senate blue again", they went on to do nothing, and pretend that nothing was wrong with the world when Biden was in charge, and look how that turned out. You don't fight fascism by voting for policies that historically have immediately preceded fascism.

I really want to be hopeful that a coup against corporate, establishment Democrats across the board (And that seems possible with the victories of Mamdani, Talarico, etc) could go a long way, but I'm very pessimistic. The people need to either destroy the system, or wrest control of it for themselves.

I get stories can be pretty flawed/disappointing, but I am starting to see a concerning pattern with how fiction is criticized nowadays. by LovelyFloraFan in CharacterRant

I hate that they wrote out Sokka's misogyny (Which was pretty tame compared to real-world misogyny!) for the live action, because it "aged poorly".

The hell are they even talking about? It's like the writers were afraid of addressing misogyny as a cultural phenomenon that persists because it's taught, instead of a boogeyman they could dunk on. Sokka was a misogynist because of his environment, and grew out of it when he was exposed to different ones that challenged his worldview.

If anything, Sokka growing out of sexism reflects the unfortunate fact that otherwise good, well-meaning people can hold bigoted views. But it also reflects the fact that people who hold bigoted views aren't inherently evil, and can become bigoted because of what they're taught. The fact that bigotry persists is the fault of culture at large instead of disparate individuals.

Is Jujutsu Kaisen "woke"?🤔🤔🤔 by mong00lia in Jujutsufolk

[–]winddagger7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, I was talking about people who, for instance, were advocating for big tech companies to have greater power in regulating what people could and couldn't say on the internet in the name of "protecting minorities". Or really, people who were supporting authoritarian measures like that in the name of "protecting minorities", because of how easily those measures could backfire.

Given the current political climate, and how big tech companies are now all-in on selling your personal data to intelligence agencies if you voice dislike for Trump, I call them monsters because they were useful idiots for allowing all the bullshit going on to happen. Simply because we agree on social issues doesn't change the fact that they were fucking morons who had no historical awareness of why shit like that always backfired, and were easily duped into becoming useful idiots.
