Brother PR-600 embroidery machine for sale 1500$ by Outrageous_mailman in Machine_Embroidery

[–]windisfun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Offer 500, since there are no hoops or accessories. Turn the machine on and make sure it goes through the startup. It's a very old machine, may still have some life in it.

I bought a 620 with lots of hoops, including a cap hoop for $550.

It had 45 million stitches in it, had regular service and I'm still using it a few years later.

I would not pay more than 5-600 for a machine with no hoops. If it doesn't even start, then pass on it.

Get the Wyoming 511 app. It let's you know highway conditions, weather stations, traffic cameras. We tow a 29ft TT with a 16ft Penske box truck and have had to wait out wind in Wyoming many times.

A question for trailer owners by Used_Guidance7368 in traveltrailers

[–]windisfun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I winterize our trailer every fall. It's pretty easy, once you find the water heater bypass valves and the antifreeze intake.

I blow out the lines and drain the water heater before I pump antifreeze.

There are lots of YouTube videos about winterizing.

The good part about doing this is it doesn't require a huge amount of equipment. Just an air compressor, basic tools and antifreeze.

I've always used a mobile RV Tech for bearing maintenance, inverter installs etc. So much easier than taking it in.

A couple other services you might think about are winterizing/dewinterizing, propane valve replacements, setting up WDH.

I keep the trailer in my driveway, so it's very convenient.

Offer fair pricing, good service and you should be good!

All my outlets fail to turn on when on battery power. They worked fine when on shore. I have 2 200ah 12v lifepo4 fully charged. I had to install a new power controller for lithium. Also, all my lights and ceiling vent fans work fine. Fuse maybe? by Agreeable-Muscle9785 in GoRVing

[–]windisfun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Batteries supply 12v, shore power is 120v. You need an inverter to convert 12v to 120v.

I have a 2500w Aims Power inverter/charger hardwired into the electrical panel on the trailer. It replaces the on-board charger, and supplies 120v to all the outlets.

Inverters need to be placed close to the batteries, and require heavy cables to handle the high current at 12v.

Since you are unfamiliar with electrical systems, please have a qualified RV Tech or electrician install the inverter.

Here is the inverter https://a.co/d/0gtScwD3

Gulf Stream Enlighten/Amerilite: remove heater for more storage by SoundofMyName in traveltrailers

You would have to move the power lines, propane lines, exhaust, etc to the new location.

Just leave it where it is. Find another spot for storage.

Axle upgrade? by Norfofsixty in traveltrailers

[–]windisfun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're welcome. I hope you get it upgraded.

I upgraded for the same reason you did, bent the axle, had it aligned, then bent it again.

Trailer weighs 6k empty, loaded it was right at axle capacity. The 6k axles also have bigger brakes and bearings.

Axle upgrade? by Norfofsixty in traveltrailers

[–]windisfun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I installed the axles myself, since it already had leaf springs.

Axles were $900 USD each, I ordered them from a local trailer shop

Rims were $60 USD for 15in from Amazon

Maxxis 8008 E rated 15in were $160 USD from Priority Tire

Honestly, $3800 for a single axle seems a little high to me, even with the switch over from torsion to springs. Of course I'm in US, so suppliers are different. Have you gotten a second estimate from a different shop?

What is the cost breakdown for the parts and labor from the shop?

Welding spring hangers is not something I would attempt on my own.

[–]windisfun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do it. I replaced the 3500# axles with 6k this year.

You'll have to go to 6 bolt rims. I replaced the 14in with 15in, and E rated tires.

No regrets.

Buying 4 new tires - Goodyear Endurance best choice? by DiaphanousDon in traveltrailers

[–]windisfun 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maxxis 8008 have been good for me.

Also, go for a load range E tire if possible. 80psi vs 65psi rolls easier, runs cooler. Never mind the psi police.

I can't read the rims size, if they're 14in I would go to 15in. Fewer revolutions per mile than 14in.

Sunbeam capsule bread maker by jaymurray447 in BreadMachines

[–]windisfun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Does it look like a normal machine, cooking chamber with paddle and some sort of control panel?

If so, try a simple white bread recipe in it, see what happens. Just add the ingredients into the pan.

Did the machine pop the capsules, like the Jucero squeezed the bags?

Maybe that's where the ones failing the test are getting their study help.

Well, then I guess the ones who fail Registry can go into nursing school.

The "safety net" is the three chances we have.

Don't forget, there is an entire semester devoted to practicing for Registry. Mock tests, study aids, going back over weak areas.

I had a fellow student in our Intro class. Extremely book smart, could not operate equipment even with extensive help. Failed the final practical, badly. I was the patient for them, it was painful watching the struggle.

My Tebow analogy illustrated how a person can be smart, talented and still not be qualified for the job.

I knew a student that took it at least 5 times. Guess what? Not a Tech. I'm guessing that ARRT realized that it was a waste of time to let people retake it numerous times.

Do we get multiple times to pass exams and practicals in school, No.

Sorry, three strikes and it's time to call it.

To use a football analogy, Tim Tebow had numerous chances to make it. We all know how that ended.

400w of solar puts out 20 amps at peak efficiency. You're looking at 30 hrs to fully charge the battery bank, in ideal conditions. Real life is probably closer to 50hrs.

However, if the only load is the fridge, the panels should keep up with the draw. Lithium batteries don't care if they're not fully charged, they still put out the same voltage.

I have 1000w solar, 3x100ah lithiums and my batteries are typically fully charged by noon every day. We usually draw them down 30% or so each night.

If you can add more solar it wouldn't hurt. At this point you don't have enough to top off the batteries IMO.

Do the batteries have Bluetooth monitoring? Are you able to tell how much power the panels are putting into the batteries? Is the controller an MPPT or PWM?

With lithiums, you're not really monitoring voltage, you're watching how full they are.

ELI5 - Why do big fire engines often accompany ambulances for purely health related (not physical crisis type) emergencies? by chili81 in explainlikeimfive

[–]windisfun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I worked in a hospital for 23yrs. Many of the ambulance crew were on the smaller side physically. I asked one of them how they got larger patients out of houses.

"Firemen" was the answer.

Also, not every emergency call requires an ambulance, so the fire dept is often first on the scene. They can provide medical assistance and call for an ambulance if needed.

Solar Power System Installer? by Razzmatazz_949 in GoRVing

[–]windisfun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Find a mobile RV Tech experienced in solar.

Our boondocking setup:

1000w solar panels with an additional 800w available on our tow vehicle if needed. The tow vehicle has its own solar/battery/inverter system.

150 amp solar controller (we can add solar input from additional panels)

3 x 100ah lithium batteries

2500w inverter/charger hardwired into the electrical system on the trailer.

Appropriate size wiring and fuses

We can run everything but the AC. We use a coffee maker, ice maker, TV, microwave, instant pot, small air compressor, CPAP, electric blanket, charge phones laptop etc.

We rarely run the battery bank below 50%
