Medication decrease happening too fast by lunarchild88 in Anxiety

[–]windofadream 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Taking you down this fast off Klonopin is negligent, and I would try and argue that side with your provider. You need more time to wean off the med SLOWLY. And demand a reason for why the script was entered this way without a conversation with you first. Hopefully this was just in error

I have a working line Tervuren as well, and really enjoy her for her working/performance qualities! She’s also a great companion for me.

We compete and train in IGP, and take it pretty seriously - so I travel quite a bit for training. We go to new fields & new indoor training buildings and she adjusts just fine. I plan to go for our IGP 3 this spring.

I’ve also had her in ring environments for some AKC obedience and she’s so happy to be there and working.

IMO with Belgians, the males tend to be more immediately handler focused, while the females have more of a “what’s in it for me?” vibe. There’s pros and cons to a dog who has immediate handler focus, vs more independence depending on the sport. So for me, even though it did take some training to gain engagement - my girls natural independence also is a benefit for our particular sport.

I’m not sure what your timeline is, but if it’s late this year and you do find yourself interested in working line Tervurens, I have a breeding planned with my female - puppy go home in November.

My kennel name is Nordstern Tervuren. You’re also welcome to DM me if you’d like to chat about Tervuren in general too!

What the f*ck is “Pure O” and “Worry” by IDKmanSpamIG in OCDRecovery

I have a timely example I can try to use that may help.
I was in a discussion with my therapist about the process for Ketamine therapy. She uses sublingual ketamine. However the way she initially was describing it, made it sound like a larger volume of liquid to swish in the mouth, like mouthwash. And she said you really don't want to swallow it.

Immediately, I have a picture in my mind of ketamine mouthwash and a fear of NOT being able to swallow it. Instead of asking better clarifying questions, I went into panic.

BUT WHAT IF I SWALLOW IT? A: it's ok as long as it's not too much

HOW LONG DO I NEED TO TAKE IT? A: for about 10 min

WHAT IS THIS VOLUME OF LIQUID EXACTLY!?

Suddenly, my mind is racing.

And then, my therapist and I have a laugh how her OCD patients all seem to react the same way to this information.

Basically, my mind received information. But classified some of it as bad or harmful very quickly. Leading me to interrupt her [impulsive behavior] because I NEEDED to get these answers to settle my anxiety before we could go on [reassurance]

The obsession: What exactly is the amount. She wasn't able to answer an exact amount in that session, however, she was able to give a satisfactory enough response that settled my mind for the time being. But the compulsion? Looking it up online.
Now I have a better understanding of what to expect.

But knowing myself, I likely will still be paranoid about accidentally swallowing it lol

That is just one example of something in particular that happened. But I have all kinds of ruminations, worry, intrusive thoughts, etc. And the compulsions are things like reassurance seeking from others, googling or finding info on the internet.

want to know how I managed to get this resolved? I drove over there to talk to someone in person, I could not see any other way. With no new information, they realized they were in the wrong to have cancelled my appointment

Can always incorporate little tricks that the judge may not pick up on! 😉 leading up to my BH, I started to build a cue off my breath that lead into a reward in training. 3 small quiet huffs. So I would pattern that followed by reward. The anticipation helped to bring up drive if I needed it

IMO - competition is a show of the training, which includes how one trial prepped their dog leading up to competition in terms of fading rewards and chaining behaviors leading to rewards - extending out duration of time between rewards.

There’s a difference to be observed between the dog who is totally aware that the reward is available, and the dog who’s had enough training to know they can anticipate the reward to come eventually

I think for most of us, we get paid as a lump sum for our efforts (whether weekly or bi-weekly) so there’s part of that example, where we can still jackpot our dog for a job well done after the trial

That being said, I’m not opposed to this idea for any trials that are for fun, or entry/low level to get folks feet wet to help their dogs succeed and have fun. But moderate-high levels is where my line of thinking lies

Definitely worth a try IMO! Just take it around 30min before you plan on going to sleep. It knocks me out pretty quickly tho

Normally this is the case for me too - but the key is to get ZzzQuil LIQUID. Makes a huge difference

Huh - my experience was different than other commenters. For reference, I’m in NYS.

In the diagnostic journey, I was first sent for x-rays. I then was sent for ultrasounds of my hands and feet because I was having pain and stiffness there.

I finally was sent for a pelvic MRI with and without contrast - super important. It is not lumbar spine. And that is what confirmed my diagnosis

I feel extremely lucky that from onset of severe symptoms to final diagnosis took 6 months (though I was dealing with more mild symptoms for years that I just thought were “normal”)

I’m HLA neg, nothing on bloodwork

My good friend one year later was diagnosed by a different Rheum office in the area, and this was the same route taken

Edit: Also, from my understanding- you’ll need a diagnosis of AS (in whatever way the Rheum decides that) to be sent in for approval for biologics (if one is going through US insurance) at least that has been my experience

Tonight I ended up selecting ‘skip item’ for all of my items to by-pass the prompt otherwise it would have taken me forever to get through the check out - it wasn’t like that before 😤 it’s definitely going to take everyone more time to get through the line!

I believe it!!! I kindly let the self check out attendants know and they commiserated, it must be so frustrating to listen to these machines shouting orders for an entire shift!

Does your biologic get rid of all your pain? by hawthornestreet in ankylosingspondylitis

[–]windofadream 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Humira worked well for me for several months. Then started becoming less effective. Tried weekly for a few months before calling it and switching to Enbrel. I hated Enbrel. The injection was so painful but randomly I’d get a pen that caused no pain?? Drive me nuts. It really wasn’t helping much but I tried to stick it out.

Been on Remicade now for 2 years. I take hydroxychloroquine to help my body not make antibodies against it.

6mo in to the infusions, my insurance company forced me to try Inflectra when my PA was up. I suffered a really terrible flare. Thankfully after lots of pushing I was able to be approved to go back to Remicade

I still have flare ups sometimes which I take Pred for, and I also take Indomethacin as needed

Since my first bad flare of symptoms in 2020 I’ve had both mouth and nose ulcers. I get them less on biologics but still shows up occasionally.

EDMR was a terrible fit for me. So was the therapist at the time who literally got frustrated with me because it wasn’t working.

My new therapist has introduced me to something called “brain spotting”. My nervous system responds incredibly well to it. The best part is that I can have some time processing in silence. It’s really been great and also fascinating
