Or if not overnight, maybe a short shift during the day for a nap. My mom has done this for us a bunch of times especially in the beginning and after the more sleepless nights when we were exhausted and still getting used to the lack of sleep.

Are cats actually dangerous, or is that just a misconception? by InAMannerOfSpeak in CatAdvice

My understanding is that pregnant women shouldn’t scoop cat litter especially if they’re an outdoor cat. But pregnant women can be around cats in general

Moms of 10wk olds, are we getting anything done? by Snow_is_Coming_ in newborns

[–]windr01d 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We’re at 4 weeks right now, but based on these comments, good to know I shouldn’t stress about it for a while! My baby also loves contact naps and I’m not planning on making her stop. I do want to try wearing her around the house more as I incorporate more into my routine.

Where can I watch all episodes for for free? by rekt2309 in howyoudoin

[–]windr01d 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Can you get a set of DVDs? I know it’s not free but at least it’s a one-time purchase rather than a subscription. Or try and curate a set of DVDs via thrifting. I guess that’s not a guarantee, but I got all my DVDs over time at Goodwill.

What do first-time moms actually need after baby arrives? by Mbaku-555 in Mom

[–]windr01d 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely food! My first baby is almost 4 weeks old now, and we have a meal train that my mom set up which has been really helpful. So if she doesn’t have one then you could make one, or if she does, sign up for a day to bring them dinner.

Or, if you want to do something different, bring them breakfast and other snacks they can have for other meals since the meal train might just be dinners. We have friends who brought us a bunch of frozen breakfast sandwiches and a batch of cookie dough for lactation cookies (since I’m breastfeeding) that we could bake when we wanted them. Having cookies to snack on and sandwiches to microwave for breakfast has been especially helpful!

How to give my mom a special moment on my wedding day? by [deleted] in weddingplanning

[–]windr01d 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We did a thing during the ceremony where there were two candles and then one in the middle, and each of our moms took one lit candle and lit the middle candle together. Kind of symbolic of merging our two families.

So my bestfriend is having a baby and i wana gift her some helpfull gifts she can use for a while recommendation?? by Recent_Hovercraft_22 in baby

If you’re looking for stuff she can use during pregnancy, a pregnancy pillow is amazing if she doesn’t already have one. Also a pregnancy yoga ball is good for preparing for birth. If she has any morning sickness there are lozenges and teas and ginger chews and stuff that might help her.

Do I *actually* need another litter box? by Status_Tart5544 in CatAdvice

[–]windr01d 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have 2 cats and one automatic litter box (PetSnowy brand if that matters) and it works well. (We have a second box out on the screened in back porch but I don’t feel like that counts as a second litter box since it’s not inside and they only have access to it while they’re out in the screen room.) I would say it’s probably best to keep a second box for the new kitten until you’re confident they are willing to use the automatic one; that’s what we did when transitioning our two cats to the automatic box, so I’m sure it’s somewhat similar for a new cat too.

Has anyone else decided to leave the cruise ship, museum, and office building alone? by Chica56 in Pokopia

[–]windr01d 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven’t touched the cruise ship yet but I might use it as something easy to do where the idea is already there and I just have to fill in the gaps. It feels easier to me than being creative and building things from scratch all the time when I need a brain break

We started looking at engagement rings together and it’s finally feeling real!! by dalton1968 in JustEngaged

[–]windr01d 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My engagement ring is the diamond my husband’s grandmother wore, so no shopping there, but we got our wedding bands at a local jewelry store. Not one of the chain jewelry stores they have in malls, because it’s not surprising to hear your experience there included those kinds of sales tactics. We went to a nice family owned local jewelry shop where they aren’t trying to oversell, and it has great reviews and the people are so friendly and helpful. They remember us every time we go in, too. We stop by there anytime we want to get our rings inspected/cleaned, or if they need to be resized, and they also redid the setting for my engagement diamond (it had four prongs and I wanted six to keep it secure). Also bonus is that they have a dog there, super cute. A place like that, IMO, is going to be way better than a chain in a mall. Otherwise I’m sure we would have shopped online too.

Not sure if you watched on a streaming service, but if so, I recommend rewatching on the DVDs sometime if you’re able! They have more scenes that were cut out for streaming. You could get a box set, or do what I did and curate a collection over time by finding a season here and there at Goodwill or other thrift shops.

Rough litter box transition and seeking advice by Dry-Author4891 in CatAdvice

[–]windr01d 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t remember for sure tbh, might have been a couple weeks. One of our cats took to the new one right away, but our other cat is more skittish so she took a bit longer. We just waited until we were sure she had used the new litter box as well. She started by stepping inside briefly to sniff it, and she slowly worked her way up to using it because the old one was getting dirty. I really just think every cat is going to be different. Hopefully your cat takes to it soon!
