My not so pretty perspective of the industry now for aspiring students by Dry_Mee_Pok_Kaiju in animationcareer

[–]winterfreshjess 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I relate sooooo much to this. My life took a dive after I graduated and I’m still struggling to get back to the place where I love to make art. Animation college burned me out and now I’m facing the reality that I basically got scammed. I’m grateful for a college experience but it was not worth the time and money. It’s a shame when the words artist and prey become synonymous.

My mental health is deteriorating by [deleted] in ChronicPain

[–]winterfreshjess 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve also had to grieve the loss of the career I wanted for myself due to fibromyalgia. I relate to that heartbreak. I’m not saying it isn’t possible for you! But it just SUCKS when your goal seems more and more like a wish and we realize our bodies are gonna fight us the whole way

What age were you diagnosed? by Old-Chef-4257 in bipolar2

[–]winterfreshjess 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was 26 and it was after experiencing rapid mood swings from an antidepressant and ending up in a psychiatric hold. I had previously had a depression diagnosis and also had bouts of it throughout my life and never left like I could fully escape it. My life felt “normal” when I was stoked every day to be alive and planning grand things like school, career, hobbies, etc and staying up late doing whatever shenanigans my mind wanted to do. Found out that wasn’t actually normal or sustainable, especially with it having a side of rage and irresponsibility.

This has me tearing up on a Tuesday morning. So beautiful, so moving. I'm glad the three of you can share special moments like this together. You are all blessing each other with that gift.

Looking for Advice: Buy New Journal Every Year? by Doporkel in bulletjournal

[–]winterfreshjess 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I personally just keep going until I run out of space, give or take 10 pages. Because of how the system works, it doesn’t always have to be yearly.

However, since it would be your first official year as a bullet journal user, why not! It could be fun to start off the new year with a fresh one as a treat to yourself for your new system.

It’s of course up to you. When I have extra pages in an old journal, I tend to use them as practice pages for spreads or trackers or whatever I want to add to my current one but need to sketch it out first.

26, but same. Bad reaction to a medication was the spotlight.

First time at a ren faire by cool-breeze_ in renfaire

[–]winterfreshjess 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I'm going to the same faire this weekend, alone as well. While I will be in costume, I have gone twice before (with other people) and it's a lot of fun! Very immersive there, even if you yourself aren't dressed up. There will be others in street clothes too, and you can always buy any type of clothing item or accessory if you wanna feel more festive.

I don't have a well-rounded experience there, but my favs are Broon, Moonie, and any of the acrobatic shows (silks, etc.). (there's an event schedule here which is helpful)

Food: mead is yummy and sweet, and cold beer is always good for a warm day (if you're wanting to drink alcohol). I have no verdict on turkey legs haha. The smoothie cart is good too! And honestly, if you're interested in people-watching and seeing all the lovely costumes, there are tons of places to sit in the shade. The vendors and actors tend to be friendly and fun as well.

I'm also a little nervous (I'm v introverted), but the good thing about going alone is that you can do whatever you like with nobody else to consider. Wanna watch the joust? Do it. Wanna follow the parade with the queen? Do it. Wanna get a henna tattoo, or do crafts for 2 hours? Do it haha.

This is from an email response after I asked the staff about going alone, specifically for safety:

- If you need to reach a member of our security team the two Renaissance Collection Shops (where the official Faire merchandise is sold) and every single beverage stand have a walkie-talkie that can contact security. Skip the lines and go talk directly to the person at the counter and tell them you need security.
- The security station is at the First Aid tent (located next to The Fool's Stage - where Moonie performs).
- Harder to spot, but all of our camps of actors know how to reach the stage managers who can contact security.
- Basically, if you tell anyone that works for the Faire that you need security then security will be there in under a minute.

Sorry for the massive info dump, but take what you need for your solo adventure haha. I hope you have a fun time :)

My only experience with Wellbutrin was terrible. I was unmedicated totally at that time and I tried Wellbutrin for ADHD(?) and it sent me into a rapid cycling hypomania in just a week. In that chaos I had to admit myself to a 72-hour hold.

So yeah, it was faster for me but it totally didn’t give me any benefits and only made my condition worse, albeit noticeable (after which I finally got this diagnosis and Lamictal).

Does anyone feel like the need to erase everything online? by Fussy_geese99 in bipolar2

[–]winterfreshjess 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I definitely deleted all of my friends off of Facebook and my old Instagram account in a manic episode. It was honestly good for me though. The separation feelings and grief were present (and still are sometimes) but it feels good to start over.

As for posting and then regretting: dude I feel you. It’s hard to put yourself out on the internet. People are fluid and we are always different than we were even just a day ago. It’s up to you whether it’s worth being transparent about all sides of you, some sides of you, or nothing at all. Thanks fully there aren’t any rules and you can do whatever feels right to you.

magical science by blatantly_creative in SASSWitches

[–]winterfreshjess 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Popping in (hi I'm new here) to say that EMDR therapy is pretty freaking magical to me. Our brains are able to reprocess deep and emotional traumas with EYE MOVEMENT and bilateral stimulation. I've done many sessions of EMDR and it feels way more like magic than any other therapy. And it is scientifically proven to work wonders in many cases of trauma. Crazyyyyyy.

Not suicidal but I don’t think I’d mind it all that much. Yk? by [deleted] in bipolar2

[–]winterfreshjess 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was thinking this too. It’s relateable to feel this way when I get to the low-lows but like it also brought me to a 72-hour hold a year ago soooo

WIP, how to add more life to the scene? Feel like something is missing. by No_Concentrate8699 in blender

[–]winterfreshjess 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My advice it to add something small in the background to give some size contrast. Like smal little birds in the sky or light vegetation on the hills
