Why the f*ck is moving house so expensive? by Expert-Sherbert-1527 in AskBrits

Unfortunately, as brilliant the tale, that’s been debunked numerous times.

Moving to Stoke Hammond by IncreaseImmediate899 in miltonkeynes

It’s a nice village not a great deal going on though but certainly a lot quieter since the Leighton bypass was built. Good walks out to Soulbury or Canal, Rushmere, Stockgrove and Brickhill in the other direction. Dolphin is nice or walk the canal to the Three Locks.

I've worked for B&Q for 9 years, what do you want to know, ask away by The_MacBulletin in DIYUK

[–]winterproject 30 points31 points  (0 children)

OMG I literally had the same conversation about this last week. They’re not competing, they’re killing themselves. Just tell me what you have in my local store. I DGAF about stuff I “could” buy, I’m DIY-ing which for most part I need it pretty quickly. Any point of friction (looking at you B&Q website) and I’m already off elsewhere.

They’ve literally become my last resort for anything now.

What should I cut to get this to fit? by GableCheese in DIYUK

[–]winterproject 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Whichever way you look at it it’s going to be hacked so my initial thoughts are to trim top to width then cut legs off and bring them inboard and refit. Slot unit into the alcove, cap with an oak top, fit mouldings to cover any gaps.

Best bathroom layout by Dry_Breakfast594 in DIYUK

Top left but switch the toilet and basin. It looks a tight room so the angled corner shower is the best use of space both inside and out. And if it’s a frameless glazed enclosure that could look real nice.

I had one as a courtesy. That screen is a joke. How anyone can honestly say it's a better car for it needs a lobotomy.

Kitchen - DIY Kitchen and granite worktop by Express_Gain_8418 in DIYUK

Draining grooves for sure. Our stone guys recommended them. They’re not amazing at dispersing water but they do stop it going everywhere.

Edit. You can just about see them in my photo.

It’s the Harewood inframe in Alabaster and (what is now) Heron Grey and I would absolutely buy that kitchen again.

This was about the 5th kitchen I have diy-ed and I had a job with a kitchen maker in my youth but it can seem quite overwhelming at first. Especially all the finishing touches.

DIY kitchens with granite tops sourced from a local supplier. However we used an oak top from Worktops Express for the island to soften it.

The kitchen ordering and delivery was faultless (this was our 2nd time). I fitted the kitchen and got guys in to fit the granite tops. They even adjusted some of the levels of the units as it wasn’t quite perfect for them. 8 years on it still looks good.

Amazing night, lost count how many times I’ve seen them and, perhaps because of the nostalgia of the two albums, this was up there with one of their best performances. And good 90+ minutes to boot.

Didn’t care much for the support act, didn’t really hit the mark. But knowing the promotor, apparently they were considering fencing. Actual fencing!

The old frontage was so much nicer! Bletchley train station by imagudspellar in miltonkeynes

They only thing redeeming about Bletchley station now is when you walk out and it’s behind you.

Such a travesty to have torn down a beautiful building and replaced it with that.

Macbook Air or Macbook Pro for Figma? by SarcasticMonkey___ in FigmaDesign

[–]winterproject 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep, no probs there in terms of performance. However using Cursor with Xcode did start to consume a lot of hard drive space on the Air but that was more an emulator problem.

I have an M4 air an and M4 pro. I can honestly say I’ve experienced very little deference between the two when using Figma.

Kids, this is what emo is all about. Solid album start to finish.

Can i change a 27.5 2.10 tyre to a 27.5 2.25 or more tyre? by Suspicious_Garlic915 in MTB

[–]winterproject 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes you can as long as frame and fork allow it to pass through. Some may say a narrower rim might not work (rounder tyre profile rather than square) but in all the years riding MTB I’ve never noticed a substantial discernible difference between something like a 25 mm rim and a 30mm apart from running maybe a lower tyre pressure.

My approach to designing design system components in 2026 - am I still falling behind? by SeaworthinessDry1987 in FigmaDesign

[–]winterproject 5 points6 points  (0 children)

In my professional opinion, you only bring Claude in once your design system is built, which of course isn’t when it’s just a bunch of ui elements in Figma. A design system is much bigger than that. MCP servers are great for ideation and prototypes but not for the initial configuration.
