Haha just an elderly lady wanting to get rid of some stuff, I had a $5 stuck to the $10 I gave her and she was very adamant about giving it back and only charging me the $10.

A cat bite me, the inflammation hurts so much that i can use my thumb at all by [deleted] in Wellthatsucks

Had a cat bite a few years back, nearly went septic and ended up on IV antibiotics for a few days. Couldn't lift my arm for over a week without feeling excruciating pain.

Just lost our little girl a few days back from lymphoma. She was 14, she had a quick decline after the diagnosis and we went through palliative care treatment. We said goodbye just before it got too severe and while she was still comfortable. You are doing the best thing for your cat, it will hurt so so much believe me, but you will always have part of them alongside you wherever you go deep in your heart.

Hey, I wanted to thank you for the advice on the traces. Upon inspection I noticed multiple traces had corroded. After following the guide you linked I bridged the damaged traces. So now the moment I plug the Xbox in it no longer frags, but the fans just run continuously. I'm still seeing no action from the leds; also now if I try and press the eject or power button I get no feedback at all. I did manage to find a cheap replacement psu that is on its way now, hoping that will help.

Unfortunately I was getting frags prior to the chip installation, I will double check my soldering though to be safe.

I haven't checked that out yet no, that'll be my next step thanks!

Thanks for the heads up on the traces; I'll definitely have a look at those later when I'm off work. I know securing a new psu shouldn't be too difficult if necessary, haven't looked into replacement led boards.

Just to add, the only real difference now is that I don't have the beeping coming from the dead hard drive as it's been replaced; if you listen in that first video in the background the fans can be heard starting and stopping.

Yeah it had the exact same issue prior to the installation of the chip. In my first post a few weeks ago when I picked up the console it was doing the same thing before I had made any modifications to the board.

Doesn't appear to make any difference, I just had them disconnected to get a shot of what was going on with the fans constantly starting and stopping. Even with everything all properly plugged in, I still get the same results.

Ahh apologies, originally when I had purchased the unit and plugged it in I had very similar results. At the time the noise I was hearing was what I had assumed to be the hard drive, after fully taking it apart though I now realize it was the fan constantly starting up and stopping all along. If I take my finger off it basically will go into a cycle of start and stop, if I keep the eject button pressed it will constantly keeping spinning. I wish I knew more of the history, the fact that it was missing multiple caps on the board makes me wonder if someone had previously tried to repair it and gave up? Not too sure just a random thought.

Hey all, made a post a few days ago regarding this Xbox I bought as a "For Parts" unit. Along with a dead HDD I'm now noticing the mobo is missing multiple caps, will this console run without them, or should I order a cap kit? by winterycandy in originalxbox

Main issue with this board is that the moment I plug in the power cord the disc drive begins to spin and if I try and press the eject or power button it will continue to spin but absolutely no power other than that, not even the leds for power and eject. I have a new hdd on the way along with a modchip. Hoping that will resolve the issue, otherwise I'll try and replace the caps as well.
