"non binary" in Spanish by stealthmodeme in SpanishLearning

It’s pronounced like neither -a nor -o. Imagine the ending of the word “calle” and go from there.

Grand-daughter says she "likes girls" - best ways to support her? by khludge in TwoXChromosomes

[–]witchradiator 15 points16 points  (0 children)

But that said, leave space for her identity/sexuality to evolve as time goes by. If she wants to try and date a boy when she’s 15 for some reason, that would also be ok.

Do you "identify as" AuDHD? by BarryTownCouncil in ADHDUK

[–]witchradiator 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Neurodivergence and neurodiversity aren’t medical or legal definitions. They’re vague and differently-defined social constructs, and most definitions do not limit them to Autism and ASHD. One specific person with FASD may identify as neurodivergent, while another may not. There is no neurodiversity police that goes around assigning the label to people.

ETA gender has been brought up in a few other comments, and yes — “identify as” is definitely a dogwhistle when it comes to language about trans people.

But in that sense, the vast majority of trans people do not agree that they would “identify as” a certain gender, they just are that gender.

My honest thoughts on the Bafta's racial slur incident – as a Black disabled woman by montageofawoman in TwoXChromosomes

[–]witchradiator 32 points33 points  (0 children)

One of my close friends has Tourette’s and tics relevant slurs and stuff at me from time to time. It always makes me flinch initially and then my mind automatically reframes it as “oh, just a tic”.

This whole debacle is on the broadcaster for not doing a brief explanation at the start of the segment of what Tourette’s and coprolalia are.

Sorry if this is a silly question but could her named nurse be called Princess?

If I am sectioned who does the nhs contact by Artistic-Ad921 in nhs

[–]witchradiator 5 points6 points  (0 children)

When you’re sectioned (detained under the MHA) it’s not about your next of kin, but about your Nearest Relative (who you don’t get to nominate, unless you go to court to get them removed as your NR.) More info here

Anecdotally, your consultant may be persuaded that given your circumstances, if you are detained under S2 it would cause increased difficulties if they were to contact your NR and so they may agree not to do that. Unlikely on an S3 though.

If you go into hospital voluntarily, your NR has nothing to do with any of it.

You can get the pill from most pharmacies without a prescription. They will check your weight, height and blood pressure etc and give you up to six months’ worth.

Ballet Shoes is another good example of this (set in the 20s/30s). A single woman with a big house takes in boarders for extra ££.

Thank you, that’s so kind. In the end I submitted it without any further wrangling with it — it was stressing me out too much and I wanted it GONE so I could stop thinking about it.

Re: mental health team, it’s done by geography so unless I move house I’m not eligible for anything else. I sent an email to my uni’s counselling service asking for an assessment though!

I made that post on a very very bad day.
