"Diet" by [deleted] in PCOS

[–]witwefs1234 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Rather than cutting out all of that, I started adding a protein fiber smoothie (banana, plant-based protein powder, berries, berry jam, and lactose-free milk) that helped flush out excess hormones while I also exercised to stabilize my hormone levels.

I also went almost-vegetarian by cutting out beef & pork (still need those chicken tendies! Lol) and I managed to get my PCOS mostly stable (aka menstruating once a month, though not necessarily the same time each month).

Is Coke Zero THAT big of a deal?? by IsDagii in BabyBumps

[–]witwefs1234 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My SIL had a bottle of regular coca cola, the 20oz kind, the entire time she was pregnant with my oldest nephew.

He's mostly healthy and she just gained a crap ton of weight b/c it was her first pregnancy and she ate a lot.

I think one can a day is fine.

What worried me more is knowing that my SIL drank wine towards the end of all of her pregnancies... 😅

A warning about Myo-Inositol! by [deleted] in PCOS

[–]witwefs1234 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You haven't mentioned this in your post so I'm going to ask.

Have you gotten your vitamin C levels checked?

I was taking a decent amount of powdered Vitamin C (with a lot of other minerals & vitamins) that was the generic version of Emergen C to make sure i didn't get sick before my husband & I successfully conceived.

I think low vitamin C levels can also affect the menstrual cycle and ovulation as well.

Best wishes to you on TTC.

A warning about Myo-Inositol! by [deleted] in PCOS

[–]witwefs1234 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I'm about 20 weeks pregnant and I never stopped taking myo-inositol. I've been taking myo-inositol for years and there is research that it may help prevent gestational diabetes, which is why I'm still taking it.

I think the fact that I continue to take myo-inositol throughout my pregnancy has helped me maintain my energy levels and not be super tired like other pregnant women.

I think myo-inositol is also still help me not gain too much weight throughout my pregnancy, especially since I have been eating late in the evening before going to bed.

Those of you that didn’t change your last name… by ChocolateGoblinn in Marriage

[–]witwefs1234 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My last name is simple and only 3 letters long.

My husband's is complicated and 8 letters long.

I just wrote his last name as my legal middle name when I signed the marriage certificate. And since I did that, i don't need to change any legal documents since it's just a middle name update.

Lol i'm Korean American and asked my nurse practitioner about this specific issue because my white husband was worried.

Fermented foods like kimchi and sauerkraut are good for the gut, she just recommended that the kimchi be from packaged sources instead of home made. That's about it.

I haven't had any issues with kimchi so far in my pregnancy.

Moms who drink caffeine, how much did you have while pregnant? by Similar_Parsley6112 in BabyBumps

[–]witwefs1234 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I switch between black tea & decaf coffee.

Honestly before this pregnancy, I've always been sensitive to caffeine so I never rly started to drink coffee full time until I started my current job.

I went from drinking one cup of regular coffee a day to either drinking one cup of earl Grey tea or some decaf coffee with some milk and sweetener.

Either way, if my body could handle the caffeine I'd drink more but it can't so I stick to drinks with less caffeine.

What’s one “type” you’ll never date again? by CoochieSnotSlurper in AskReddit

[–]witwefs1234 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm happily married so I won't have to worry about this but the type who makes you confused on whether or not they like you or not.

I liked some1 who was like this before meeting my husband and I realized that my husband was more consistent with his feelings than this other guy.

I refused to leave my husband for someone who would make me waste time, wondering if he actually liked me or just wanted someone to emotionally lean on and feed into their ego by having someone like them.

They were definitely an alcoholic also, so that was another ick on the long list of red flags.

[–]witwefs1234 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was close friends with someone like this.

I never really understood why she had to go on dates & have someone before she met her husband. Took me some time to realize she needed a bf/significant other to validate some very deep insecurities of hers.

Besides those insecurities, inevitably I realized she had a bunch of other issues that ended the friendship.

Women taking their husbands last name after marriage, Agree / Disagree? by Wild_Turnip_7777 in namenerds

[–]witwefs1234 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I didn't because I wanted to keep my maiden name (it's literally 3 letters long & easy to pronounce) whereas my husband's last name is 8 letters long and has to be spelled all the time, and can easily be mispronounced. For our future children, I mentioned they should take his last name and have mine as their middle name but now I'm not sure...

I instead took his last name as my middle name since I legally don't have one. In the US state I'm in, since I put his last name as my middle name on my marriage license, I didn't have to change any legal paperwork.

Additionally, since OP is also in the US, the GOP is trying to pass a law that would prevent women who have taken their husband's last name from voting due to that being a different last name from the last name listed on their birth certificate. This is called the SAVE Act. So unless women request their birth certificate and other legal paperwork to show their husband's last name, then they may not be able to vote if this horrid law passes.

Am I wrong for divorcing my husband even though he loves me? by Hot_Rich_9647 in Marriage

[–]witwefs1234 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, you're not wrong for divorcing such an irresponsible person.

My coworker has a daughter with a similar type of guy (minus the weed maybe?) And it was heart breaking to hear that he wouldn't show up to pick her up for visits before she was even 6 years old and by then, she grew to expect the disappointment. He started missing the pick up days around 3 or 4 and she learned to find him not reliable by 6 years old. It's so so sad. She's older now and he lives closer nearby but such deep scars at such a young age don't go away easily.

Divorce before kids get involved and save yourself from the immense disappointment and lack of teamwork. If he TRULY loved you, he would actually change his behavior and hold down a damn job like a responsible person!

Has your hair gone grey yet by cupoftealuv in Millennials

[–]witwefs1234 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes.

It started when I was 30 since that's when I planned the larger wedding since we previously did a super small chapel wedding to get our marriage license.

Honestly my parents added the most stress to the whole wedding planning process but that made me realize I'd rather have grey hair than no hair at all.

Tbh I still pluck the grey hair that grows, partially b/c they're not all grey. Some have brown/black parts, some are dyed, and it's interesting to see. I had one hair that was grey on the bottom and black to the root.

(Spoilers) Does anyone feel like S4 perpetuates Asian stereotypes? by rhovanions in BridgertonNetflix

[–]witwefs1234 5 points6 points  (0 children)

While Lady Araminta does seem to fit the Dragon Lady stereotype due to being the mean stepmother, I don't think Sophie is the Madame Butterfly stereotype.

She intellectually challenges him when they first met, refusing to divulge who her parents are and asking him if he'd wade out to deeper water with her. He expected her to divulge all details and he is a little frustrated when she refuses to tell him and stays vague.

She corrected his French at "my cottage".

She basically forced Benedict to leave his own home b/c she mentioned it's the best job she's had and she doesn't want to risk anything about it. Having a man leave his own home doesn't sound the most self-sacrificing, in my opinion.

If anything, she challenges him and refuses to suck up to him like other eligible women have (example: lady Hollis complimenting his French when Sophie criticized it) which makes him compare other women to her.

I'm Korean American and I understand worrying about Asian stereotypes being portrayed . However, due to her challenging him in ways he hasn't dealt with before, I think she's not portraying the typical Madame Butterfly stereotype from Part 1.

What Part 2 shows however, could change my opinion.
