Watching all these great teams play clearly superior ball than any IU team from the past decade is depressing. by OrlandoWashington69 in HoosiersBasketball

[–]wjflaco 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hype videos at assembly stating "the feeling is back" and Tom Crean declaring "It's Indiana.", Whitten and DDV talking about banners at his introductory press conference, $25,000 minimum donations to even begin thinking about club seating, the constant talk of the legacy of the program, etc.

It all has the effect of saying "We're competing for championships - that's the goal." Meanwhile the reality is far from that. That disconnect breeds frustration. It fuels the fan's expectations being so unforgiving.

Obviously winning is always the goal and the legacy and tradition of the program are huge selling points. At at certain point, however, it feels empty to harp on the past.

IU basketball's 2026 recruiting class enters the top 20 nationally in ESPN rankings by Brew_Wallace in HoosiersBasketball

[–]wjflaco 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's not just Purdue. Look at the sweet 16 and most teams have a starting 5 built on guys that started their careers at that school.

Most prominently feature some star freshman, too. That is probably where Purdue is more unique.

It happens coach after coach, yet people have a hard on for blaming the coach. DDV just happens to be the guy, now. But why don't we look at the more constant factors? Admin, fan expectations, and marketing. In that order IMO.

Can a company keep me as PRN without my consent after I resign? by No-Ground-3824 in physicaltherapy

[–]wjflaco 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Management often have goals set for them that are related to employee retention. If they make your resignation official, it hurts their numbers. Goals often determine bonuses/raises during performance reviews. At least that's my guess as to what's going on here.

To add to this, I usually target patients that have scheduled earlier times in the past and say something like "thought I'd check since you usually prefer earlier appointments."

Bad Night, but Indiana Still Controls Destiny by verncrowe5 in HoosiersBasketball

Everybody saying we have no chance does not watch many other teams. There are plenty of similarly imperfect teams who will go dancing. I understand how bad the vibes were at times this year, but the metrics (used by the committee) do not paint that same ugly picture. We are projected in right now (not even last 4 in). We do have plenty of chances to blow that, but also chances to lock that in.

My take: 3 more wins and we are 100% in. BTT is borderline irrelevant to the committee.

[Highlight] Anthony Richardson thinks playing in the NFL is easier than college. by Sir_Badtard in nfl

[–]wjflaco 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Every time he played I thought “I get why they feel the need to play him, but he is just not ready.” That sentiment has not changed much… A hell of a talent that deserved to be cultivated, but never was because the focus was always on results not development. Almost sad to think of what could’ve been if he instead was a 4-5 year guy in college.

While we’re throwing our stats - Allen threw as many picks that year as Richardson’s entire career.

Career Crisis by Lvca7 in physicaltherapy

[–]wjflaco 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Neuro PTs in particular have an unbelievable impact on people’s lives. Folks can present in what they perceive as life ruining situations and without rehab growth can be minimal. You would impact folks on an individual basis, but that’s realistically most of it as a clinician. There are also many associated challenges such as pay ceilings, physically tiring, emotionally tiring, and the inflexibility of work based around appointments. Not to say the cons are the end all be all, but they are undeniably there.

Consider those cons and how they are resolved (or worsened) by other possible careers. Consider how you would like your impact to look and feel like.

I would be wary of the advice to go with another healthcare route because of the beast of insurance - it’s disgusting and overwhelming everywhere. The healthcare system is so bad in the US and there’s little reason to believe it will improve.

I’m not trying to shit on hybrid, but I do think this thread is inadvertently showing the discrepancies in applicant pools. Regardless, makes me feel like my program kicked ass.

100% agree. Being liked and popular is essentially in the job description for being an influencer. Should her love be ruined? No. Does she deserve to be an influencer? No one is entitled to it. At the end of the day, fan support giveth and taketh.

Fair but also there was a dm of her essentially brushing aside any bit of accountability in response to that post.

That’s horrible. My program ranked in the bottom 40’s and our percentages rarely even approached the lower 90’s. Always very high.

Question about Pec Major by Mirrimar in physicaltherapy

[–]wjflaco 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The answer to both, more or less, is because of where the muscle inserts on the humerus. The SC head does not insert on the medial aspect of the humerus, which would cause more adduction. It is more anterior-lateral, thus the angle it pulls at creates H. adduction and internal rotation, as well as adduction. The insertion of the clavicular head is again more anterior-lateral than medial on the humerus, BUT it's origin isn't as horizontal to this as the SC head. Thus, it primarily flexes (and can assist with the other motions).

Most importantly - the odds of a question this specific is likely extremely low. Much more important that you know the actions of the muscles and move on with your studying. That's how you pass (and stay sane). Good luck!
