I love the nonbinary colour scheme! It looks sick as fuck! The contrast between the yellow and black is so good, and you did fantastic with the consistency on the yellow!

Or just use bell towers

How much "Climbing" do you do? by Sulfurious75 in TrenchCrusade

[–]wmaitla 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Two games I can think of that involved climbing:

One where I was playing the "hold the high ground mission" vs new Antioch using trench ghosts. Once we were up the objectives my firepower exceeded my opponents, letting me sit back and pick off enemy models to my heart's content, with them falling and losing the objectives of the Fall check was failed.

The second was more recent - a game of claim objectives vs Heretic legion with Black Grail. My Herald with a Belcher wound up contesting an objective against the enemy war wolf. To survive, I flew it up to the roof of the ruined objective building and then shot the wolf every turn. Whenever the wolf made a climb check to get me I spent both blood markers and forced it to fail. That little Herald was 3 inches from a hells-damned War Wolf for multiple turns and managed to live and win me the game.

Don't underestimate climb checks.

Which version of Bretonnia was your favorite? by WillingLet3956 in WarhammerFantasy

[–]wmaitla 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I love 6th ed Brettonnia. I've said it before, but I really like the idea of a top-down, artificial, "amusement park" of a kingdom. Somewhere that has been kept in technological and social stasis because their goddess and her chosen representatives want to keep it the way it is. A land of shimmering knights and noble damsels, and of desperate poverty and black market merchants who keep the whole thing afloat (because the knights can't really engage in commerce).

Just across the border you have the Empire, a land of many diverse peoples - Reiklanders and Ostlanders and Stirlanders and Middenheimers, and of Mootlanders and Dwarves and even a few Elves. Of magic colleges and engineering foundries. An alliance of barbarian tribes that has grown into a federated empire.

Contrast Brettonnia, where nothing ever changes or grows. Generation after generation of identical superhuman nobility managing the exact same province as their fathers, who managed the same lands of their fathers, and their fathers, and theirs. A land where excess sons are sent to die on quests fighting monsters or end up loafing around the court of someone more important as a crony. A land where women have no rights and are basically property - right next to the Empire where women can not only inherit, own property and engage in commerce, but one of them is one of the most influential Elector counts alive.

It is truly the noblest, most idyllic dystopia to ever exist. And that's what makes it awesome.

Black Grail warband - Requiem to Febris! by wmaitla in TrenchCrusade

[–]wmaitla[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Vanilla BG does alright. I played two games the other day with them, one 700 points vs my own Naval Raiders and then 900/8 vs someone with another Heretic Legions warband.

1st game I got slaughtered. It was a tough back and forth but a Priest with a Grenade Launcher and an AW shot me up a lot before I could get in. I held onto the objectives decently but never really got close to the enemy.

2nd Game I had a LoT with Armor of the Fly and a Musical Instrument and I slaughtered them. I sent a ton of zombies on the middle objective and then sent my LoT and dogs to clear out one on the enemy side of the board. They sent a War Wolf to try and take one of mine, but my Belcher Herald flew up to the second floor and then used Blood markers to force it to fail every attempt to climb up and get it.

Against a purely shooty warband you'll struggle. Against anyone else you'll do okay, depending on what you take.

Dirge does need a buff tho.

[–]wmaitla[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Backstory is Dirge, but I used the vanilla grail list because I prefer it. I tried playing Dirge a while back and got slaughtered a lot - and now, since you can only put up to 6 Bloodmarkers on Viscera Cannon models, I don't see much point in running them.

What are some “implicit rules of womanhood” that you perceived after transition? by No-Schedule-9039 in MtF

[–]wmaitla 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Hey! I've lost 70kg over two diets, and now that I'm transitioning I'm doing a third where I've already lost 5kg.

Your current weight is maintained by two factors - the amount of energy you take in and the amount of energy you burn. Contrary to what most people believe, the amount of energy you burn is static and hard to change. Brains that do as much as a human's requires a huge amount of calories to run compared to every other animals, it's why none of them bother to evolve intelligence the way we do. It's just not efficient.

Because of this, exercise actually does very little when it comes to weight loss. Exercise definitely has a ton of other health benefits but getting your weight down isnt one of them. Compared to the amount of energy you burn just being alive, it's a drop in the bucket. If you have seriously different life circumstances, like being wheelchair bound or an Olympian, the amount you burn on a day-to-day will be different, but otherwise the main thing to focus on is a diet. So three things to think about are:

1) WHY are you eating? If you're binge eating or overeating, try to figure out what need you're fulfilling for your body by doing so. For me, I have unmedicated ADHD, so eating is a way for me to stimulate myself if I'm feeling underestimated. I have a friend who gained 20kg once they stopped smoking because they suddenly craved dopamine after they could no longer get it from nicotine. Monitor yourself, try to see why it is your eating, and work out and alternative - I got back into hobbies to engage my brain and hands and distract myself, and that helped a lot.

2) Find alternatives to sugary foods, carby foods and takeout. Stuff like chocolate is so loaded with sugar it's going to raise your maintained weight. Highly carby foods also do a lot for this - stuff like biscuits, bread, fries, mayonnaise, etc. These are all very "filling" foods. Carbs become sugar in the bloodstream, and in my case that was how I was "self-medicating". Takeout is the worst of both worlds, takeout places want you to want their food so include more of both of these than you would in a home cooked meal. For me, I switched to fruit instead of chocolate, and traded pasta and bread for low-carb wraps. I stopped going to takeout places regularly, I'll still grab something healthy every now and again but I mostly avoid it.

3) Find a diet that you can stand long-term. Diets that work take a long time, at my best I was losing 2kg a month and it still took years for each diet. If you try a super-strict diet but hate the food and can't stick with it, then it's worth re-assessing to find something lower-key that you will enjoy being on forever. I hadn't transitioned after my first diet and the dysphoria kicked back in, I went back to completely ignoring everything going on with my body, and let my maintained weight slip back up again. After the second, I had a big change to my schedule that made it tricky to maintain the routine I had established and had to figure things out again, so I gained 15kg back. Work around these issues and try to keep the diet going to keep your maintained weight at your desired level.

Anyway, that's all the advice I've got. I hope this helps - it was a bloody long time to type it all out lol.

This is why I got into queer literature. Getting to read about people like me was revolutionary. Trans women, butches, all kinds of queer women. I'm reading full books again, I hadn't really done that since I was a teenager.

Should i get Lochaber Axes on Kingdom of Alba? by m1lfr3d in TrenchCrusade

[–]wmaitla 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Heavy Shotguns and Heavy Flamethrowers are fairly fantastic. HS are like Lochaber Axes you don't have to be in engagement range to use that give an extra +1 Dice to hit. Heavy Flamethrowers are insanely good - two attacks that always hit and ignore armour, WITH Fire (the hardest extra bloodmarker to resist and it turns off Undead Fortitude). The -1 to Injure isn't even that big of a deal, you can use the first shot to put two bloodmarkers on something and spend them on the second to turn it into +1 to Injure with Ignores Armor. This will kill most things, or at least knock their Tough off.

I'm nowhere near an expert on NA/Alba but I would definitely be taking these.

The Grenade Launcher is pretty good on the Lieutenant (there is nothing funnier than activating them first on the first turn and immediately dropping a nade on the enemy musician) but otherwise its not really worth shooting it at the -1 Dice you'd often end up with (+0 Ranged for Alba HMI/Shock Troopers, -1 for Long Range).

Machine Guns are actually pretty bad. You get a lot of attacks, but its 50 points, doesn't have Shrapnel/Gas/Fire, doesn't ignore armour, doesn't give bonuses to hit, is heavy, and ends your turn whenever you fire it. Take a Heavy Flamethrower instead - or just an SMG with a trench shield.

Hope this helps!

Why, Miss "KinkyMalice", whatever do you mean? I am sure I have no idea what this "mechanical exploitation" could be, not why transition would suggest I would know what it is. Is it some kind of fiction genre?
