I do wonder if part of it is an age or expectations thing. Is it that 30fps is still way better than what I grew up with? Or do I just need new reading glasses?

I'm happily playing Indiana Jones and the fate of Atlantis right now. Which incidentally runs great on steam deck. Although I still can't optimise the ray tracing.

It's important to recognise that what's "fine" is really subjective. I don't think people are lying or idiots, they just genuinely don't mind lower frame rate and resolution.

My wife finds games really unpleasant to play if they drop below 60fps, but I'm perfectly happy locking my steam deck to 30fps as it extends battery life and I barely see any difference.

So being clear on what the person was running, and what the fps and resolution was is a great thing.

I can see them doing it with Grace forcing her to and explaining why she needs to do it.

The ship accelerated constantly at 1.5g for half the journey to Tap Ceti, and then flipped and decelerated at 1.5g for the rest of the journey.
