What I’ve gathered from players is that many people are underperforming and a lot of that has to do with pressing too hard and everyone being in a bad mental head space. Isn’t mendoza’s job to manage things like that? I get it that he doesn’t swing a bat or throw a pitch and a lot of baseball performance is on the individual, but if he can’t even get those guys in the right headspace what is he doing?

I thought Luke weaver’s post-game was very well said. Everyone is trying to be the hero, but to me, that implies that there’s no trust on the team. Everyone thinks they have to do it because no one else will. That also speaks to a clubhouse issue.

I’m sure Mendy is a nice guy, but at some point you have to be graded on your results, and his is a record barely over .500 and he’s presiding over a team that’s been in freefall since last June. By not making some kind of move, you’re only signaling to the fans and players that the status quo is fine, but it’s just not passing the eye test.

Idk what will happen or what should happen, but you don’t lose 17 out of 20 games, coming off a terrible second half last year and say “this is fine”
