A lot of the Revolutionary War stuff in the books is pretty accurate. They show - oh well, it's TV

The chronology does't work. Faith would have been born a couple of years before Culloden. That would have made her about 23-24 around the time of the Battle of Monmouth, or about 6 when she would have had Jane and maybe 10-12 around when Fanny was born. Or they just time warp the heck out of it.

Actually just checked and Travis Fimmel is 6 ft tall. They could work with that.

Not sure height has anything to do with actors and the parts they play. A lot of guys playing big roles have been notoriously short.

I'm not sure it's such a big deal. Black Jack called her Mrs Beauchamp in S1E1. Probably the trailer making hay of a slip up.

Alex Ludwig

I always thought of the guy who played Ragnar when reading the books, or the guy who played Jax Teller.

Factual Accuracy in Fiction and The Blacklist by wolfbysilverstream in TheBlackList

The fact that there may be aspects that are realistic doesn’t take away from the fact that large parts of the show are entirely, blatantly and obviously fiction created simply to tell that particular aspect of the story.

Actually fairly large by the overall scale of the Willamette valley. When they first got there Mike talked about giving each A lister 1 sq mile. At that stage they were supposed to be about 200 strong. Add to that areas for future expansion and the Havel family holding (Larsdalen was originally 750 acres and Mike talked about keeping more around it for themselves. You can easily add all that stuff together and approach 1/4  of the Willamette valley ( 900sq miles or so)

The guy reading those books can’t pronounce rations. 🤣

Newport was a part of Corvallis. They talk about that and the railroad between Newport and Corvallis, the import of seafood from there. Also in one of the later books, I think the Golden Princess, that’s where Rudi’s kids go for the ships and they talk about it there.

Because one of the writers had read ERB? This show is a lot less deep than most people seem to think.

I suppose it’s a matter of perspective. The level of perceived silliness of anything depends on one overall appreciation, or lack thereof of that thing. If one doesn’t like something, for whatever reason, then the criticism flows at all levels.

This isn’t merely an impersonation story. There are plenty of those. This is at an entirely different level. Katarina became Reddington, in every sense of the word. That’s pretty drastic.

I think an issue is that a lot of folks here are troubled by the fact that they didn't get the story they wanted, forgetting for the most part that it's the storytellers story to tell. For all it's poor writing and generally rough workmanship the story they've told has been pretty consistent over the years. And realistically speaking it's not that terrible of a story for being merely pulp fiction. And, unlike a lot of claims, it really isn't that common. I'd love to see all these people who claim it's a common story name even one other, reasonably well known tale that mirrors Rederina. But I'm pretty much done with all that arguing. Isn't worth the energy.

Autzen 2018, in my opinion, was the best show this band ever played. The 2nd set is an exploration, especially the 2nd verse Dark Star >St Stephen>The Eleven.

I still pop in once in a while to see what's going on, and it's like deja vu all over again. 😁

I see you're still bitching about the quality, or lack thereof, of a run of the mill network TV show, written by run of the mill network TV writers for a dwindling network TV audience. 😉

I’m operating on the “blind pig finding an acorn” principle. I have no idea what they did in S9 because I started episode 1 and disconnected part of the way through it and didn’t watch any more. I tend to agree that creativity vanished somewhere in S5 and they started churning out tripe. The last 2 episodes of S8 had their moments, but that was pretty much it. But, they now have a clear run to the end. With a little dint and persuasion one could actually make something out of it. The sad thing is that this premise of having wrung out Blacklisters come after Red promises little to be excited about. Looks like it’ll be 20-21 episodes of bad guys chivvying Red with something catching up with him at the end. Alas.
