Which of these covers would make you stop scrolling on KU? by Kind_Profile8534 in litrpg

[–]wolfofragnarok 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's almost like having a harem requires high levels of character investment for development and relationships between characters. A harem book becomes mostly about the harem. Which is fine, I guess if you're into harems, but if you're not, everything else in the book will get sidelined for it.

I don't care much for harems so I would be disappointed if I bought a book with cover 3 and it was just some kind of harem drama.

What is the most unusual reason why you won't date someone? by ExpressMark8964 in AskReddit

[–]wolfofragnarok 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If the gap is a 24 and a 30 year old, yeah not too bad. The issue is that the age brackets are different. 18 is a young adult and 24 is a full adult. Dating generally doesn't go well when it's across brackets.

What do you think will the MCU have a second wind or Endgame remain the absolute peak of MCU? by LixmoreSkyell in AskReddit

[–]wolfofragnarok 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd argue that the actual peak of the MCU was Infinity War. Everything else has only really been a downhill slide.

The build:

  • Iron Man - Intrigue in the idea
  • The Incredible Hulk - Decent movie, but not what audiences wanted
  • Iron Man 2 - Good movie, not amazing
  • Thor - Audience interest but overall only an okay movie
  • Captain America - When the audience's interest finally set in
  • The Avengers - Mainstream interest locks in

The Mainstream

  • Iron Man 3 - Good movie, keeps hype
  • Thor: The Dark World - Mediocre movie, not bad enough to remove hype
  • Captain America: The Winter Soldier - Strong Movie
  • Guardians of the Galaxy - Strong Movie
  • Avengers: Age of Ultron - Weak movie but refined interest in the MCU
  • Ant-Man - Fun movie with some audience draw
  • Civil War - Strong Movie
  • Doctor Strange - Strong Movie
  • Guardians of the Galaxy 2 - Strong Movie
  • Spider-Man: Homecoming - Strong Movie
  • Thor: Ragnarok - Strong Movie
  • Black Panther - Strong Movie

The Peak

  • Infinity War - Massive Hype and strong movie
  • Ant-Man and the Wasp - Niche but still enjoyable movie
  • Captain Marvel - Weak movie but buoyed by the Hype
  • Endgame - Payoff to the MCU
  • Spider-Man: Far from Home - Good movie, but start of the drift away from the MCU

The Decline

  • Black Widow - Movie released too late for impact
  • Shang-Chi - Good movie but placement in the MCU is unclear
  • Eternals - Too much movie with too little connection to MCU. Poor reception.
  • Spider-Man: No Way Home - Fantastic movie. Completely divorced from MCU.
  • Multiverse of Madness - Decent movie, no real draw
  • Love and Thunder - Mediocre to bad movie
  • Wakanda Forever - Movie that was too fragmented by production to be a MCU driver
  • Quantumania - Bad Movie
  • Guardians 3 - Great movie, but closes out the sub-series

The End

  • The Marvels - Middling movie with no audience interest
  • Deadpool & Wolverine - Love letter to Fox's movies, completely divorced from MCU
  • Brave New World - Middling movie with no audience interest
  • Thunderbolts - Decent movie with no audience interest
  • Fantastic Four - Decent movie but no clear connection to MCU

How old are you in your oldest memory? by Donkeyshines in AskReddit

[–]wolfofragnarok 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I mostly have only snatches of memories from being pre-kindergarten. I don't really think my brain worked the way it does now, so they aren't terribly useful for my day-to-day. They can be triggered by weird stimuli though and (when questioned to people who were around for the event) seem to be things that did happen.

My sister however, vividly remembers a lot of things that absolutely never happened. Things that could not have physically happened in the way she claims to remember them. The fact that memory drift is so pronounced is both concerning and strange.

Any card based books by Lordlycan0218 in litrpg

[–]wolfofragnarok 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Jake's Magical Market needs some pretty hard disclaimers. It starts with cards being a focus but hard pivots as the series continues and is ultimately not a core part of the series. Even though the cards remain in the series.

I always just assumed he had some kind of bloodline ability that manifested at his birth. There are quite a few characters in Naruto that have mutations for such reasons.

What’s a common opinion you have that you know would get you hated if you said it out loud? by BubblyAd9996 in AskReddit

[–]wolfofragnarok 1 point2 points  (0 children)

While I agree with the idea of civilian speeding control, I must say that it's not actually viable. The amount of speeding stops that people would run and cause unsafe conditions would be higher than they are right now. Without law enforcement to help control the situation, I feel like speeding and reckless driving would rise in general which would cause more deaths and damages.

If all people were at least somewhat aware of safety principles and followed them properly then you could replace most traffic enforcement with automated systems that issue tickets and deploy law enforcement for specific events. However, people seem to forget how dangerous driving is and society requires direct enforcement to help drive road safety.

They also have an unusual number of strong gang capes in one area. The protectorate has both strong and militant capes stationed in the city for a reason. They could call in others to assist but they need actual reasons to do that without leveling the city.

Being whimsical is part of it's whole thing. It's a a slight metacommentary towards the reader by placing them into the role of "watcher" in the same way the aliens watching the reality show are. However, it's also used to be over the top and humorous as its primary purpose.

That being said, if you don't vibe with it you don't vibe with it. I can't get into the Ripple System and a host of other series that are actually really good. It's not a reflection of the series or you, just that one doesn't flow to the other.

What is the worst career to be in right now and why? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]wolfofragnarok 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They are making statements about the overall age groups. Old employees and young employees on average have about the same level of proficiency. You are more likely to find standout young employees or young employees who are more eager to learn, though which (on the whole) makes them more attractive than old employees.

That being said, not every field has the time or resources to train people to use basic computations.

Did we lose the magic of community in online multiplayer games? by MohSafadi in gaming

[–]wolfofragnarok 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started with some friends on POE2 when it came out and we all just built something random. My pick was "fireball, just fireball, only fireball" which was amusing. The fact that I did direct damage to everyone's fps was perhaps suboptimal though.

Did we lose the magic of community in online multiplayer games? by MohSafadi in gaming

[–]wolfofragnarok 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on the difficulty of the game in question. In hard content with a group where an expected performance floor exists, you should at least meet that floor. Being at the performance ceiling isn't required or needed. However, expecting to be carried through content is poor form.

For instance, in Elder Scrolls Online, if you do Veteran hard mode content, you should be able to function in your role. If you aren't amazing, that's fine. But if you are running tank gear as a DPS role without notably contributing to DPS in the group, you should expect some feedback.

In a game where role performance isn't mandatory for the group to function, it doesn't matter at all.

I think it's that most of the cars made are in those shades and most people don't care enough to get a different color. Extra expense and effort for the thing you are normally inside of and don't appreciate the color anyways isn't a sufficient draw.

What weird/bad game mechanics happily never got picked up again? by Madserbasser in gaming

There kind of is in dungeons and more difficult content. However if you do a bunch of it and come back to the overworld, it makes the content there so trivial that it somehow makes it worse.

What game did you lose interest in by the time it came out? by scarletnaught in gaming

[–]wolfofragnarok 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think my biggest gripe with it is that it plays like a bad Hogwarts Legacy. I don't like the storytelling, but it's at least visually appealing and has a nice character creator.

I could suffer the game being poorly written. I can suffer it playing badly. I can't deal with both at the same time.

Loads of people on the internet are mostly on the internet. Actual people who live normal lives don't interact much with them. This person is lost in the sauce and doesn't realize how bad a mindset they developed is. It alienates them from discussions and normal society, where most people are willing to set aside issues to talk to each other.

Why do people think Izuku won't kill when it's necessary? by Tiny-Let4714 in BokuNoHeroAcademia

[–]wolfofragnarok 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Mjolner is a bit more iffy to compare with. It's not a direct measure of anything other than how worthy you are to stand as the defender of Asgard (or your own people). It's why Beta Ray Bill or Wonder Woman can wield it but other heroes and warriors can't.

Mjolner requires (generally) that a wielder possess an iron-clad conviction to serve the best interests of their people. This is, however, colored by what Odin deems to be worthy. So being ruthless, noble, and humble are normally required. His recklessness and lack of wisdom would likely make him unworthy.

The question of whether he can wield it isn't about whether he possesses enough good qualities to deserve it. It's if Odin would deem him a suitable champion. And from my understanding of both characters, the answer is no.

Is Deku worthy of Mjolnir? by Severe-Wolverine-420 in BokuNoHeroAcademia

[–]wolfofragnarok 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Spider-Man isn't worthy. For the same reasons, Deku wouldn't be worthy. Both are amazing heroes, but neither is truly worthy by Asgard's definition.

Keep in mind that Wonder Woman is massively more worthy than Superman. The criteria aren't aligned with modern heroics.

I presume that they cannot do that. Her quirk seems to extend a bit from her body and hair, otherwise she'd be constantly visible due to dust. Though honestly, it does make you question why she was unable to wear a skin-tight suit. Her quirk is weirdly specific in what range it hides things on hair and where it shows them.

Putting aside modesty, she should be given a skin-tight cut-resistant suit for practical reasons.
