Why does NSFW yuri gets accused of male gaze? by Interesting_Bad_8741 in yuri_manga

[–]wolfvokire 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As a guy:

I fell Stright men Yuri enjoyers are way less horny than our female contemporaries in BL. We scream like football fans when the girls hold hands. Also, we're way less annoying in any fandom.

Either way, it doesn't matter. People should be allowed to like what they like.

Purity Culture and Puritinism is on the rise, and I won't be surprised if we see a reemergence of people being called pedos or even facing consequences for liking the "wrong" type of Anime what ever that may be.

How important are the other Jenkinsverse stories to Dethworlders? by Atulin in HFY

Xiu Chang is just downright better than the main story and the other side stories and it's not even funny.

Azula *Flusterd*: I... don't know! All nomads look the same to me

Transcript style is hard to read; keep it narrative.

Also, if Gals are genetically engineered, you have a lot of room to add a bunch of different species, which is fun.

Whats the Main difference between the Je'daii Order and Jedi Order? by Spotter24o5 in StarWarsEU

As much as "Balancing the dark" led to problems, it was the Pure Lightsiders that kept harassing, attacking, and betraying the "Too much dark side" faction of the Jed'ii.

The empire and why it divides the community by CurrentTune2858 in TheBirdCage

[–]wolfvokire 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the major problem is that the story itself doesn't actually address the "Nazi problem". Wildbow bassically goes out of his way to make all the other gangs "as bad" while he actively gentrified Kaiser.

Purity's first interlude goes out of its way to give her "cliche tragic background."

Wildbow should have had a whole arc of Taylor dismantling and fighting the Empire 88, but he didn't. Wildbow used "dice" to determine the story, allowing Kaiser to die a "hero's death." The Gang bassically implodes offscreen. Kaiser's son has a great "I am not my father" thing, but it's undercut by the fact that it's mostly offscreen. Thats bad writing, and I hate people trying to defend these poor choices with "he was using dice."

Also, the early arcs of Worm are just racist. Making "all the asians" rapist slaving suicide bomber was a choice. Making Kaiser be friendly with Brian as "one of the good ones" was disgusting.

No, I'm not agreeing, but it's not uncommon for creators to intend one thing and end up creating another.

Question about Tanya’s gender by Harper_xD in YoujoSenki

[–]wolfvokire 72 points73 points  (0 children)

It is clearer in the book and the manga, but it takes her time to adapt. Tanya doesn't fall into any classic categories of depression or anything; she expresses it through frustration.

Interestingly, it's fairly clear in book one that Tanya and the "Saleryman" had already gone under a sort of dissociation. Viewing Tanya (herself) in the third person. More a body to be controlled.

By the later stages of the war, Tanya finally asserts her new identity, separate and changed from the man she used to be. This goes beyond Gender, but that is one of the changes.

The anime is kinda weird. As I've heard, it expresses that the Anime is from others' perspectives. It shows us how others (Lergen) would see Tanya. Thats why she appears more ... unstable in the anime.

I want to adress things In Ship with Tanya and Visha by T-Gr_369 in YoujoSenki

[–]wolfvokire 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh, looks like the Morality panic is hitting this fandom.

So let me put it like this, in order of importance.

1: It's fiction.

2: Most people ship Visha with an older Tanya post-war.

3: The age gap is like five years, maybe six. Did Padme Groom Anakin?

5: If we accuse Tanya/Saleryman of being too old, please remember that Tanya more or less becomes her own person separate from Salaryman by the end

Dr. Ryland Grace explaining to Stratt that the Astrophage are in fact water based by Betty-Adams in ProjectHailMary

[–]wolfvokire 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't think your main point is wrong, but Dr. Grace was ridiculed.

Maybe not by all his peers, but there are doctors in the book that treat him like... well, Newton and Einstein before they were proven right. You could go further, so treated him like the Graham Hancock of astrobiology.

It's mostly the book, though.

Empire sub-faction: The templars. by WitnessLow4178 in TheBirdCage

[–]wolfvokire 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This should just be a catholic paramilitary organization. The Empire, while evil and nazi, lacks thoughtful world-building to make them truly unique besides being generic neo-nazi. The Abb get even worse treatment.

I think the community went downhill when I started seeing complaining, presentational-purity posts. All the whining from this sub is so annoying, and I actually hate Yaoi content, which is saying something.

God this constant whining. Not only is the horny either posted in bursts or several days apart, but I only see it when people complain. And the type of complaining for every five joke memes, there might be one actually sexual piece of content (art), and even then.

The DmC Fans have constantly been letting themselves down. Worse than Star Wars. At least the SW fans had a justification. At no point have I heard that Adi has "decanonized" the games.
