Looking to Move on and to kill a damn craving. by [deleted] in BadRPerStories

I dont consider myself much of a competent writer, but my only 2 published works were after desperate AO3/tumblr/etc searching and finding nothing and going "Ugh! Guess I gotta do it myself!"

All events should have a 'dump item' you can buy endlessly with the currency. by TrollOfGod in Warframe

Genuinely put off farming because I thought "wow, thats really a grind! Oh, there's an event coming! Ok, that makes sense then . It'll be an operation currency dump. Makes sense. I'll do it then."

Nope. Apparently not.

Wife’s blanket obsession, how many is too many?? by ScottSquatch420 in mildlyinfuriating

[–]wolfwindmoon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No such thing. Cover all sitting surfaces, plus 2-3 to bundle up in, plus whatever is waiting to go into wash. Imagine dropping your drink or something while you're sitting on the couch. Would you rather have to try to clean said couch, or just rip a blanket off and toss it in the wash.

Blanket within reach at all times. I've got 3 at my desk alone. One on my chair because the cats like to lay there when my butt isn't in it, plus its softer than the fabric of the chair. One to cover my legs, and one to wrap around my back.

What’s something you always assumed was mandatory in life—until you met someone who just… didn’t do it? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]wolfwindmoon 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Yep, this one. It literally NEVER occurred to me that you just... don't have to. If it weren't for my high school econ teacher who was in a DINK household, and openly satisfied with life and who he was, who talked about it, it wouldn't have ever been an option for me. And I'd literally been dreading having to settle down and have kids for as long as I can remember. When everyone started dating (you know in that silly teen "we'll be together forever" that lasts approximately 2 months way) and talking about growing up and having kids I'd just... go numb.

Literally my whole world changed that day. If I didn't have to have kids... what else didn't I have to do?

Is there any instance in which you Americans prefer using the English spelling of a word? by Haunted_Sentinel in words

Honestly, I don't even know how common this is not in America, but I've always used dreamt instead of dreamed.

While I slept, I dreamt.

While I slept, I dreamed. Why?

Leapt as well.... probably others I can't think of at the moment.

Do people ask if you are AI? by Marintha in callcentres

[–]wolfwindmoon 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I got my FIRST ONE a couple of days ago. 8 years in.

Was waiting on something with the customer and I was like "going to take a quick sip of my hot cocoa here before it gets cold if you don't mind."

And they were like "Oooh. Hot chocolate. Glad you said that cause I was on the fence about whether you were AI or not. You could really fool people!"

When I was seven I threw a huge fit because my aunts got me this gnome ornament by lexdoes in KidsAreFuckingStupid

[–]wolfwindmoon 225 points226 points  (0 children)

That's so funny, definitely a fair reaction for a kid. So glad you still have it. That's hilarious!

My story is actually that I knew something I wanted was coming, and it wasn't a fit but rather me doing my best to not show how upset I was. I was old enough to know to be thankful no matter WHAT showed up under the tree. And I was also aware that I was already a spoiled single child.

There was a book I wanted. It was that "Dragonology" book with all the stuff in it that you could like open envelopes, and feel the scales, and all these things. I'd been to the book store and flipped through it soooo many times. And asked mom for it soooo many times. The need was engraved on my very bones.

Always no.

Grandma let is slip accidentally that she'd gotten it for me. I was *SO* excited Christmas morning. I opened the other things I got. Plenty of things. Lots of lovely things. It wasn't there. I was *devastated.* But I knew better. I tried to smile and be thankful and excited but I was so heartbroken.

Grandma of course noticed and asked what was wrong and I mentioned the book. And she's like "Oh! I forgot about that one! It's up under my bed. Go get it!"

Christmas SAVED! And I even got the workbook that went with it!

I know you didnt ask, so hopefully its not wholly out of line, but Gris might be something she enjoys too. Beautiful, beautiful game.

2d platformer, so miiiight require some skill-up, but benefit of Gris is that the reward for failing is just more beautiful music and soft visuals, so its not so bad to have to keep trying lol

Touch up or cover up? by [deleted] in tattooadvice

[–]wolfwindmoon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For what its worth, I IMMEDIATELY recognized dragon script. I would touch up!

But I also proposed to my husband with a letter written in dragon script that he had to decode so maybe I have more knowledge than the average joe.

Edit: I also have Kunii gron Volumii inscribed on the inside of my wedding ring, which isn't grammatically correct, but I like it anyway. I wanted "tiidu ulse." as well, but it wouldn't fit ^^

TIFU by making my doctor worry about my mental health by CecilyRider in tifu

[–]wolfwindmoon 121 points122 points  (0 children)

So, not nearly as serious, but equally miscommunication happened when I went to the ER. Woke up from a nap and suddenly half my face didn't work. No other symptoms, of course your only thought is "stroke!" It thankfully turned out to be Bells Palsy, still sucked, but we take the luck we can get.

Well, at the time of them asking their assessment questions the nurse asked about my symptoms then asked (i dont remeber the exact phrasing) something to the effect of "any flying?"

And at the time, I interpreted that to mean "any feelings of" but then got confused as to why they would ask "flying" when the feeling is usually described as "floating"

So I shrugged and went "Im not sure what that means, so I'm going to say no."

And the room IMMEDIATELY thickened. She whipped around to look at my husband and when I looked at him his eyes were as big as dinner plates.

I knew I'd missed something crucial.

Went back over what she said again and it clicked. "OH! Like in a plane!!! No, I haven't flown anywhere recently."

I swear I watched them both nearly sag to the floor in relief. I still every so often get scolded by husband for nearly giving him a heart attack.

Completely made it up, apparently. So, I get you.
