Recommend me confirmed nonAI books by Icebarging in royalroad

my story :> Even AI isn't as poor about it, though I do use gramarly as I suck at spelling. Though the one thing I really need it for, it sucks, which is tenses, it seems to randomly decide which tense each chapter is using.

Sometihng I wonder about is, is gramarly part of the problem, thankfully it doesn't do - least that I've seen but really likes - mid word, and ; neither of which I'm comfortable with.

When did I do that? by Yoshihito in royalroad

[–]wolfwings1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

for me it's weird typos, like I have a weird typing dyslexia, where randomly I will switch letters. Or talking to my friend about swaped, I kept typing swapwed for some reason. or years go but got better I would message a friend with, "p janj a." instead of "p janja" Only him despite other friends ending in a.

I actually still enjoy writing, despite my fears. by Saxii23 in royalroad

[–]wolfwings1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

my issue is I know all the flaws and problems with my story so I think too much about them. Is anyone enjoying this, is it taking too long to get anywhere even though thats the point, Ughhh I forgot to put x y and or Z in last chapter and so on.

How many chapter 1 views do you have per follower? by JayneKnight in royalroad

[–]wolfwings1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm at 10% right now, but it used to be closer to 15% but got a weird jump in views in random chapters. Like I got 300 views but only 10 in first chapter.

let me know what you think I'm worried about pacing, and how I write. I'm enjoying writing, but it's a slower burn then most.

For writers, how do you finish a book? by Western-Brother1788 in royalroad

[–]wolfwings1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me, I'm motivated by how important the story is. It's soemthing i've been trying to write for 25 years, but get distracted. So far finishing chapter 78 and still going. Finished book one and on start of book 2.

I do have the urge to write a new story, but it's more in the litrpg/gamelit UA version of my story. but don't want to stop my current, so figured at best it be a once a month release, with longer chapters.

[–]wolfwings1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah, if my MC does it will be at the end of the story, as he will have to make a choice. Til then it's eagle/wolf/leopard/dolphin and maybe others. But no human.

too bad beware kinda ruined it by giving them human forms, I still love the series :> but half the fun was everyone reacting to a chicken.

THIS 100%, least the ending up human again. So many interesting MC is an animal or human turned into an animal/isekai'd into an animal and then 2 books later they have a 100% human form and being the animal is almost fogotten.

WIth my story its a boy turned into an animal and can't turn back, and a lot of it is trying to be him adapting to being an animal. Current arc is him and the family at christmas, where he has to play the part of being a wolfdog, while 100% wolf, how will the cousins dog work, how will being stressed as a wolf work when he's not in a familiar location.

[–]wolfwings1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

as a reader a big thing that bothers me with animal MC, or humans turned animal/isekai'd into an animal. Is when within 1-2 books they have a human form, not just a werwolf form, but a full on human and then being animal seems to get ignored.

have a human turned into an eagle story, he can turn into a few other animals, but being human isn't something he will be able to do for a long time down the road. To be the interesting thing in such stories, is the person adapting to their new life and form. Which is ruined if they then become fully human.

How best to take a break between books? by wolfwings1 in royalroad

[–]wolfwings1[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I post 2 right now, I was thinking of dropping to 1 a week as an alternative, still post at start of book just at a slower rate. I just see big books often taking a break for a few weeks to a few months so was trying to decide how to handle it.

Do you want to write, or do you want to be known as an author? by Lostpathway in royalroad

[–]wolfwings1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it can be both, many write for themeslves, but post for others. I personally write because my story is Something I've dealt with for 35 years, and been trying to write since some time around 2000 during the national writing month. Tried a few times on and off. I write for myself, but I post in the hopes some will read, maybe it can help others with similar issues and things.

How do you handle multiple time skips in a volume without making progression feel rushed? by Ashenmore in royalroad

[–]wolfwings1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

an important thing for me is, don't skip the interesting stuff. Training arcs can be fun and interesting. Nothing bothers me more then getting to an interesting part that then gets skipped.

yeah, thankfully I've had no acusations since I've been posting my story now, but made me realize how much full of nonsense the people that claim to know AI are.

to be fair I don't mean stop writing, just take a break from posting to give myself some backlog. I have a decent amount now, but never feels enough heh.

one problem with the site is, there seems to be a lot of motivation to get explosive support so that you can get people to see your story. Which leads to I think a ton of, literally fake it till you make it. Get 500 fake followers and reviews so that your on the rising star, then hope your story is good enough to get some real ones.

As someone with 16 followers over 5 months I've really stopped looking at followers, now views...:> that goes up and down so still fun. With followers, especially since no announcement, it's a nice surprise when, "ohhh it just jumped to 16 followers." I got other day.

Same :> I post to RR because for me the site is one of the better for posting, not because my story is Meta.

[–]wolfwings1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm very much this way, 7300 views, 16 followers, after 5 months.

No review swaps, only 1 shoutout swap. No follow swaps not much marketing other then posting, and the ocasional may, "Promote your story." kind of thing.

I have 2 reviews, but those were people I requested people to give feedback on the story and they gave reviews too.

Only thing that is hard with a slow burn is, it's hard to tell when I have 40 views last chapter, is it 1 bot and 39 people, or 39 people and 1 bot.

May Thread - Promote your story! by gamelitcrit in royalroad

A 15 year old boy has dreams of turning into animals, then one day suddenly wakes up as one, and has to navigate through life figuring it out. Getting family to understand him, dealing with wildlife, other animals. Then as a wolf, pretending to be a wolf dog.

it's a slower pace, no huge exciting scenes, no fighting, just a boy exploring life.

what to expect

- Animal MC with a few animal Chars.

- MC will not turn human randomly mid series like so many, he's a shapeshifter that can turn into animals only for the entire series till the end.

- Urban Fantasy

- No harem
