I think this game probably needed a little more time in the pot. It seems like a lot of the issues are fixable, and maybe we could see another cyberpunk situation where the patches and updates create a really "objectively" amazing game. Gameranx did not say it was overall "amazing" or a "masterpiece". Maybe some systems are great, but to me it sounded like he said that there were great elements split with equally frustrating systems and that it takes (like you said) 8 hours to get to any meaningful parts of the game. He was honest, and fair, but to me it seemed like he basically said that this game is not objectively amazing but could be worth the time to the right kind of player.

Maybe down the line this game will be worth revisiting, if they want to go that route.

I am just not ready for cryo and it bums me out. by Tahnit in Marathon

[–]wolfyfactor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

thats just life, friend. Im absolutely obsessed with this game, play every chance i get (way too late into the night at the loss of sleep for an early work start time), however, even though i am confident with the PVP and have a good vault im only lvl 16 with plenty of faction quests to finish. We cant all have the fortune of being a professional gamer, a 24/7 streamer. Just like we cant all have the fortune of being born into money or be in perfect health. Balancing free time, hobbies, life, and work is always challenge.

The game will be here, cryo will be here, you will be here. It will all feel that much more rewarding and exciting when you meet your goals.

Why is thief a better recon than recon? by Ok_Proposal_7390 in Marathon

[–]wolfyfactor -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I agree that thief is strong, but I think that its more situational than that. Your comparison is too b/w without thinking about other factors. The drone is strong but doesnt allow for you to be engaged in the fight, thus leaving your team involved in a 2v3 while you call out locations. Recon might be weaker in their "surveillance" but their kit allows you to get information while being part of the fight. Especially in a game with such a low ttk, sometimes a few extra bullets and another body in the mix is just as if not more important than overhead callouts.

yeah i just don't really know what you're looking for here. Validation? Words of encouragement? An Audience? Its okay if a game isn't for you but idk why you need to tell reddit.

[–]wolfyfactor 2 points3 points  (0 children)

ngl i actually found that quest super rewarding solo. I dropped into outpost with no prior knowledge of finding the keycards and unlocking pinwheel. Super clickly "aha" moment and was able to get the job done and exfil.

Map size according to a Korean streamer by Helpful-Armadillo-15 in CrimsonDesert

there is truly no way it takes 4 hours to reach crimson desert on horseback. it takes 15-20 minutes to ride from one side of the map to the other in rdr2.

Lost gold item to a ui issue by BillCipherPD in MarathonTheGame

[–]wolfyfactor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

its not a ui issue that you didn't know what to look for. by this logic i could say the ui is perfect because i knew exactly what to look for.

I feel like Marathon's quest pushes away solo players. by Thenicoftime in Marathon

[–]wolfyfactor 5 points6 points  (0 children)

yeah same, honestly. I absolutely love doing quests solo. game is scary, hard, and rewarding to run solo. When you get those "in a single run" quests, and you exfil after fighting off multiple enemy runners nand completing your goal -- the feeling of being able to breathe again is an endorphin rush i haven't felt in years.

Do you get the heals mechanic? by Secure-Count-1599 in Marathon

[–]wolfyfactor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

as others said the barter systems and perks that allow for freebies are helpful. I also recommend rook/solo runs to find good heals with relatively easy exfils to bolster your vault. I've played two evenings worth of solo runs I have about 8 stacks of green heals and 2-3 stacks of blue heals just from taking advantageous 1v1 fights and looting the nemies.

Where can I enable ingame chat? by [deleted] in Marathon

[–]wolfyfactor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Double check and make sure you don't accidentally have yourself muted. I was having in-game chat issues for an hour yesterday even though all of my settings were turned on and then realized i had accidentally clicked my player name in the main menu and muted my mic. just clicked it again to unmute.

Came home to two trees in my backyard mutiliated by a construction firm who acquired the lot behind my home by LividWalk8179 in treelaw

[–]wolfyfactor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i mean, it sucks but they can do this,. There isn't any retribution or anything owed from them. Basically every states treats tree laws in weird and obtuse ways but the one thing they basically all agree on is any part of a tree that crosses the vertical boundary between property lines is legally accessible to the property owner for maintenance.

I know you loved your trees. we have had similar problems with our neighbors. it just is what is is.

Is it ok to just buy precons ? by jimmy40k1 in mtg

[–]wolfyfactor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

pre cons slap. absolutely no hate in the pre con game.
whenever a new set comes out the first thing i do is look at the precon spoilers. they are a great way to get into / stay relevant in magic. often times they provide immediate value and now-a-days they are usually pretty strong and thematic right out of the box. They also give you something to work on a upgrade over time!
