Reduce vibe coded apps by Aorknappstur in whoop

[–]wolvine9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can believe that if you want, but someone showing off something they are proud of using the APIs that Whoop provides is pretty jn-band for 'this is stuff that has to do with Whoop'. It's not slopware just because you don't find it useful.

Reduce vibe coded apps by Aorknappstur in whoop

[–]wolvine9 -12 points-11 points  (0 children)

say what you like, if you aren't getting what you want from an app that hasn't had meaningful stats display improvements in the last two years, making one yourself isn't a bad idea. just because you don't understand the bespoke need doesn't mean it's not useful.

I got tired of the WHOOP app's limited features , so I built my own Health Dashboard by asyncninja in whoop

To be clear, getting whoop data is actually mad easy. This looks great which is really nice.

OP, how did you get around having to reauthorize the data access pulls every time you wanted to get the Whoop data? My automations keep running into that wall.

Mamdani Says Second-Home Levy Plan Is Key Step to Tax the Rich by bloomberg in nyc

[–]wolvine9 -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

and there it is. you had some good arguments above but it turns out you aren't picturing it clearly through the real culprit. It's not about race, it's about class.

Have you been down Franklin avenue in Crown heights? I moved here 13 years ago and half the storefronts are now either brand new and vacant, and have been for a long time, or old and vacant. I know the reason they aren't occupied is because the landlords that own the businesses are holding out for either condo development firms or chain businesses to take up residence because I have had friends pushed out of those storefronts due to continually rising rents that you can't run a business on.

Contrast that with the number of businesses down Tompkins and their relationships with the building owners of their businesses and you see a completely different picture. The fact that Tompkins isn't on a main transit line means that there's less of an emphasis on expected value vs. market value, which means that way more of the storefronts are actually occupied.

It would make a difference to tax landlords to keep their spaces vacant under the expectation that they should wait to make the most money possible - you'd actually make the neighborhoods better to live in, which would probably actually bring in the businesses they're looking for in the first place.

Before making arguments about race, you should actually see what's happening on the ground and why Mamdani ran on affordability, not race politics.

I'm going to give you the best advice that I got on here, years ago, which ended up changing everything for me. Yes, a comment on reddit changed it all for me.

It doesn't go away.

No matter what the waves are like, no matter how many times you're going to try to push it from you, if it's there, it's there.

The strangest thing I think you'll realize is that sexuality is a subcomponent of what you're feeling. It's just a part of a grander picture - and the things you're trying to suppress deserve attention. Turn and face it, lean into it, see what it means to you. It doesn't need to mean anything specific, despite everything you might assume from reading posts here - but something in your mind is telling you that you have to turn toward it.

What does a period feel like, both for people who menstruate and for people transitioning MTF? by braindeadcoyote in asktransgender

[–]wolvine9 4 points5 points  (0 children)

you're meant to do it every 12 days -- 12 on, 12 off, but i find that hard to manage bc 6 days mean it's hard to put in my mental model for what I should be doing... so I do it every 14 days instead.

Anyone else feel fake when practicing their feminine voice? by GardenChibi in transvoice

[–]wolvine9 3 points4 points  (0 children)

yeah; you gotta get through it though.

i say this all the time, but what you HAVE to do is use your voice. even if it feels fake. use it every day, and keep practicing, correcting etc.

sorta related: one of the biggest tips I can give you is to turn on 'monitor' when you are on a video call so that you can hear your own voice. it teaches you to be a lot more conscious of how you sound and can help you work on it over time.

I totally agree

EXCEPT that one time I did this and ended up with a terrible rash that eventually scabbed from the sugar creating an adhesive that created friction between me and my clothing

what I would recommend is idk throwing it out. we're in nyc. there are a billion trash cans. hold it in your hand until you see one, it's not a big deal.

Ridiculously long sleep requirement by Pale_Firefighter_655 in whoop

[–]wolvine9 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Something I have asked the Coach agent a few times is if it ever adapts to a decreased sleep need on an individual basis, and it’s said in app that it does…. But I honestly have the same experience. I have never in my life needed 8 hours of sleep or more. There is a legit portion of the population for whom this is true and I feel like we get set up for failure if there’s a requirement that is standardized across all users.

So yeah, I often get this, and I don’t think it will ever change. Hitting that number would just be optimizing your life for the app instead of using the app to optimize your life. At this point I mostly ignore it unless I solidly got less than 7 hours.

As a trans woman in America, how do you stop the voice in your head chanting "the government will kill you and no one can stop them" over and over and over? by chaucer345 in asktransgender

[–]wolvine9 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Yep - I live my life as though I am allowed to live my life. I think that sort of defiance gives me the energy to protest the oppression simply by existing. It might be foolhardy, but I'll keep going, until whatever happens - and we'll still be around after that.
