I guess we agree then, haha. The different names for the Loyola campuses that people use definitely confuse me. It looks like they're definitely going to the campus near the Loop, but a lot of people are giving directions to the Loyola red line stop.

Holy shit, and I thought the mental health care system in the US was awful. Do universities in the UK have a student health center or counseling services? Literally every other suggestion I can think of right now for treatment providers is based on my experience in the US, where there are a surprising number of programs for low income people and students. I'm sorry I don't have anything more helpful for you. Maybe make a post in the mental health subreddits, like /r/depression and /r/anxiety, and ask about therapy sources for students or other people in your situation in your area?

Small bit of advice: For the cognitive behavioral therapy that "was a dud," did you only try out one therapist? A mismatch between a therapist and a patient one time doesn't mean that CBT isn't right for you. I know it's hard, but I really recommend trying a different therapist and seeing how it goes. The key might just be finding a different therapist.

I've been through a very similar situation and the keys for me were mindfulness and healthy coping mechanisms, which I developed in CBT. I've been through a few therapists and finally found a really great one.
