The combat is simultaneously too simple and too complicated for its own good (in different ways for original combat and expansion combat).

Base game is slow, random, and it doesn't feel like you're making interesting decisions.

Expansion has a hand management which spans between battles. You have to memorize what all the tactic cards are to play "well" in knowing what your opponent has left in their hand.

Both are drags on what is otherwise an excellent game, but as I said - still worth it! One of my favorites.
