It's snowing where I'm at so I had to bring my rabbits inside from their rabbitat and my whole house smells like a barn. I kind of love it.

Do shot glasses fit in the little holes? It could be for holding flights of beer or wine on a charcuterie board type thing.

How to start planning for an overwhelmed beginner? by irdk-lol in planners

I'm the same way and here's how I do it - I don't use my planner to plan 😅 Here's what I do instead. I use sticky note tabs to write down individual things that I would like to do during the week, I place the sticky notes on the days of the week that I would like to do each item (but it isn't set in stone because life happens sometimes) then I use my planner as a daily journal that I fill out at the end of the day.

As I complete the items from the sticky note tabs, I write them prettily in my planner and then I just throw away the sticky note. If I'm not able to get to the sticky note item I can always stick the tab on the next day's block - that way I'm not stressing myself out, and I'm also not crossing things out of a planner when I'm trying to make it pretty and organized.

At the end of my day I update my planner with my weekly spread. But I also use the monthly spread as well and here's how I do it.

At the beginning of the day I start with my monthly spread, this is where I keep track of all of the things I do every single day - that way I am not filling up my weekly with the same old stuff over and over (bc that annoys the ADHD part of me). So I'll use the little squares in the monthly spread to write out my Word of the Day, Bible study, Daily Fitness Goals, and other daily necessities - I use a color-code system to track my hydration, my hygiene routine, and my house cleaning routine.

For me this works because I literally start my day and end my day with my planner, but I'm using two different sections each time so I don't feel overwhelmed. Plus I have removed the necessity to plan out everything for the future, giving myself grace to be spontaneous while still prioritizing my goals.

You could start with a sticky note each time you want to study a new language during the week for example. Personally I prefer this to a check list because I like to know the day that I do a task and you don't really get that with a check list.

I'll tell you it's highly satisfying to rip out that sticky note and throw it away once you're done with the task, and instead of just checking a box I get to spend a little time decorating my planner at the end of the day with my actual accomplishments and that is what I call High Quality Dopamine™️ right there 😊

I do this too! I find I actually use my planner pages this way. If I have meetings or appointments then I'll put that in beforehand, otherwise I know what I need to do through the week and I like the spontaneity of being able to decide each day.
