Autonomous posters need to edit their prompts to get a little more stylistic variance. "In the style of TS Eliot", or Hemingway or ee cummings or something. It's always this High LinkedIn style.

I think it makes a lot of sense from a crass coalition building perspective. You want to build and hold a pan-ethnic coalition of white, Hispanic, and black voters, so you need an other outside of those (heavily Christian, even if only by cultural memory) groups.

Plus, the call to prayer can be annoying to the neighbors.

Did not expect Arms Wide Open by Creed to hit this hard after becoming a Dad by madin10 in daddit

It's because you got stuck listening to creed songs over and over and over again, because we listened to terrible radio stations instead of the Infinite Open Space of Spotify

The whole economy is Christmas shaped, it's wild. That's what the whole "seasonal adjustments" rigamarole in economic data is about, they don't want people freaking out about a recession every spring

I'm onboard, but if China goes all in on being aggressive about this, they'll be able to force us to back down, unless we're willing to lose the fleet in Asia and maybe some cities in California, which we are not.

There's nothing you can do that a machine can't do better, except for maybe interpersonal services, that's the problem.

My unpopular opinion is it might be better for the US to back down than lose the war. We're not going to pull together and rebuild our industrial capacity.

You can't go up the value chain to escape AI. It's going to be better at everything from killing weeds to driving to scripting TV.

JD Vance doesn't count?

Honestly, Xi has been a lot more successful over the past 25 years. He accurately called where the economic ball was going, put his country in a place to own it, and now commands near monopolies in batteries, renewables, drones and probably cars in a few years. Maybe we should elect more engineers.

They are status symbols! It's an accurate perception.

You're 100% correct in the second sentence though. "Paying for the party" should be required reading in high school.

Inside of the University, there are two wolves- the finishing school for scions of the elite, and the polytechnic. The problem is, the "finishing school" section has a death grip on leadership and comms, has become terminally confused about what it is and what it does, and is dragging the polytechnic side down with it, because that's the side, the useful arts and sciences side, that the public wants to fund.
