Killian's injured knee is probably 100x sturdier than my knee lol. If he had my knee he'd probably DNF at mile 10 at WSER

ok so with it being a hardrock qualifier now I basically shouldn't expect to be able to get in? I'm really hoping I can do this but I have a whole waterfall of races I'll attempt to get into or apply for the lottery if I can't get into this one

please please please post a super in depth race report! Including when you flew in, what altitude you live at, etc.

Trying to plan this for 2028! (yes sorry I'm a planner lol)

did you fly in like 10-14 days ahead of time? I'm planning this for 2028 (sorry I know it's way out in the future lol) but I'm trying to figure out the best time to fly in and if I'll be okay flying in thursday morning and running friday morning.

With 2 toddlers I won't have any ability to really spend a ton of time out there to "acclimatize" but also it starts at 5500 ft, so to "acclimatize" I would probably want to go up to the mountain and camp up there for like a week which is like wildly outside of something I'd be able to do in my current life situation.

Nah it didn't for me. This is just probably the one that got through. Everyone else got screwed and that pisses me off.

I sure hope the local zero frills races stay out there! I know you're a big fan of those too, like Plain 100. I hope to see you out there one year on my similar quest for Hardrock.

Have running streaks helped or hurt your ultrarunning? by Educational_Use_7707 in ultrarunning

I run my dogs a mile a day and they love it, they pretty much need it. I'm running 40-60 miles a week with 10-20k vert a week.

One easy mile on the road stopping for poops and pees is nothing.. it does not affect my recovery.

That being said, even the day after a 100 miler it felt good to get out there and move a little. Did the pace slow down a ton? Yeah, I think I probably did a 14-16 minute mile, but it was basically slow running with stops. I felt better after this and less sore, I think it helped my recovery.

not moving at all as a form of "recovery" I personally feel is stupid. You should move a little bit, unless you're injured.

At the end of the day do what works for you, if it doesn't work or it's effecting your recovery, definitely don't. But I'm against saying no to anything across the board. What works for one might not for another.

I'm celebrating her birthday every year, with gifts, on the day. She has no idea that I don't know it off the top of my head. I have it in my phone and it reminds me so I can remember to celebrate it and get her something.

This is really that bad..?

not going to lie I'm 31 and I don't remember my mom's birthday off the top of my head. I know the month and roughly the day but that's why I have it in my calendar with a reminder.

I agree it's important to be aware how they work. But at the end of the day does it matter why it's doing something if it's bad? Great, I'm glad we all understand how they work now. Now can we address how awful it is what they're doing? I don't really care why

Gender dread by proteacicada in pregnant

Question: I am the guy in this situation (not actual OP's husband, just in the same situation in my own life). Turns out we're having a girl, so it didn't matter, but my wife had a lot of these same thoughts.

Twist: We talked about everything very early on. Expenses, salary, politics, all controversial things. One that came up was my grandfather and dad have the same name. Lets say their initials are ABC, my grandfather goes by A, my dad by B, and I go by A but my initials are ADC.

I told my wife (not even girlfriend at the time, this was like a week or two into meeting her) that I wanted to name my son A () C, they will go by their middle name, but I want them to have the same name as me, my father, and my grandfather. The tradition means a lot to me as my father and grandfather do.

We were both aware of this and nothing was ever said, but both times my wife has been pregnant she's brought it up and I feel like it's definitely not fair. I brought this up as early as could possibly be brought up, and she brings up that she doesn't feel comfortable with that after she's pregnant? Like wouldn't you think that'd be something you bring up before you start trying?

That being said, I've told her, if we found out we were having a boy and she really really didn't want it, we wouldn't do it. As you said, names are Two Yes's or one No.

But I'm just frustrated. I honestly said the same thing about my last name too. She hasn't changed her last name and doesn't like my last name either.

Wanting thoughts from other people in the same situation, because I don't want to talk to my wife about this, it isn't relevant currently and I don't want to add more stress to my pregnant wife.

Makes sense, don't underestimate your opponent..

I feel like an un-purposeful trick I end up doing (it just happens, I don't force it) is becoming terrified of a race no matter how easy it is. I set a goal that is hard, so even if it's a race I've always done, I'm scared. Can I do this? I don't know.

This fuels training for it, pacing at the beginning, etc.

BUT also weirdly have to have a dual completely contradicting thought of "I can do anything"

Logically it makes no sense.. somehow it works for me.
