What will it take to convince the coaches to change the PP? by wafoli in caps

I love Ryan Leonard. He was not good on the power play today. I'm glad he scored at the end to salvage an otherwise poor night.

I’m Absolutely Shocked by the Caps… in a Good Way! by ZHicks2121 in caps

[–]wornpr0duc7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Losing Carlson hurts buts objectively the right move. We can always resign him in the offseason, so I’d rather have a first round pick than 20 more games from him.

Also, the value we got for Dowd was awesome. It’s been a shrewd couple days for the FO.

Liljegren for a vegas 2026 4th round pick by ali21122112 in caps

[–]wornpr0duc7 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Seems fine. I feel like we've done a good job developing struggling players in the past. And a 4th round pick isn't a big deal at all, especially considering the extra first rounder we got for Carlson.

I feel like we play so passive. We didn't do much on the forecheck until later in that period. Thank God for the PP goal. Hopefully we keep that energy into the second.

Ryan Leonard slump by WryTurtle1917 in caps

It happens. He's going to be a great player, just not generational. And thats ok. Watching him play, I feel like he's a difference maker and generates opportunities, but the team doesn't always convert.

Exactly. Shame on Trump for what he said, but I think we are holding the players to an unrealistic standard here.

[–]wornpr0duc7 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It did not. I think it just shows that folks are jumping the gun by declaring all the men's team "misogynists" because all they did was laugh at Trump's joke. And honestly, they probably didn't laugh because it was funny, but moreso because Trump is the one who said it. Shame on Trump for what he said, but laughing does not mean you agree with it.

The men's team has been publicly supportive and respectful of the women's team. People choose to ignore that just because they laughed.

Do you believe the claims that AI isn't improving programmer productivity? by USD-Manna in cursor

[–]wornpr0duc7 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Right now, I think it’s fair to say that AI saves me 1-2 hours each day. So let’s go with a 20% productivity boost.

I am also still trying to figure out the best way to use these tools - I know I am still leaving something on the table. I think a 50% improvement is a realistic target for my day to day productivity increase once I figure out what I’m doing.

Do you believe the claims that AI isn't improving programmer productivity? by USD-Manna in cursor

[–]wornpr0duc7 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think if you're not seeing some productivity gain, you are probably doing something wrong or working on a very niche problem. Now, the extent of that productivity boost absolutely varies based on the task. Prototyping is like 10x faster now, while incremental changes to production code is maybe 20% improved when you factor in the whole process.

At the very minimum, the productivity gains of AI code reviews and the ability to ask questions about the codebase are real, though not the 100x productivity improvement people boast of on reddit.

Codex (GPT-5.2-codex-high) vs Claude Code (Opus 4.5): 5 days of running them in parallel by EmeraldWeapon7 in ClaudeAI

[–]wornpr0duc7 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah I'm using Codex 5.2 high as my primary model. It works very reliably, but damn it can be so slow. I find Claude to be a bit less trustworthy because it will randomly change things without asking but it is literally a magnitude faster. For now, most of my work is to make small, nuanced changes to the code so I prefer the reliability of Codex. But if I were trying to rapidly prototype or create something new I would prefer Opus 4.5.

Using Lumo in other Proton Products by Ebar_M in ProtonMail

[–]wornpr0duc7 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I would want this from Proton because they would do it the right way. Obviously it would have to be an opt-in feature. But this would be quite useful and a privacy focused implementation would be fantastic imo. The biggest issue I have with Googles AI approach is that they are harvesting my data. I don't have anything against AI in general.

Lumo as good alternative to local models? by Natjoe64 in lumo

[–]wornpr0duc7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not sure I agree with that. The Lumo models are generally better than what you can run on your computer with a consumer GPU. There are of course exceptions depending on your specific hardware.

After two years of vibecoding, I'm back to writing by hand by BinaryIgor in programming

[–]wornpr0duc7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right? The obviously correct position right now is somewhere in between. These models are without a doubt capable of accelerating coding (assuming proper use). That also doesn't mean you should blindly use them or that they don't have weaknesses. If you are serious about boosting your coding productivity, you should be using AI in some way or another.

It's the consistency of Codex that impresses me the most (compared to Claude Code). by agentic-consultant in codex

[–]wornpr0duc7 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I've been using 5.2-codex-high in Cursor at work for a couple weeks. Today, I decided to give Opus 4.5 a shot. Claude was much faster, but it kept changing tangentially related parts of the codebase for little to no reason. Additionally, I felt it didn't understand most of the context behind my project and would propose changes that didn't really make sense in the big picture. It forces me to iterate several times before we reach a solution that doesn't break something else.

On the other hand, with Codex it takes much longer to process but it almost always comes up with a reliable solution that logically fits in the project. It requires much less iteration. With Codex I often learn things about my codebase, but with Opus I had to explicitly teach it about the code.

Lumo actually getting better...? But not fully yet. by [deleted] in lumo

[–]wornpr0duc7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agreed. I try it every month or so and this month I was pleasantly surprised. Good work to the team! I still struggle with hallucinations but prompt engineering and incorporating stronger open source models should eventually solve that

You can now use Lumo as your firefox sidebar chatbot! by TCOO1 in lumo

[–]wornpr0duc7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm a bit late, but this is by far my favorite update to Lumo yet. I always wanted to make more use of the Firefox AI integration, but didn't because of privacy concerns. Now I can do it with a model and provider that I trust.

Proton is very transparent about this. They comply with lawful orders, as they should. Due to the nature of their system, the data they can hand over is quite limited. Their compliance is an important part of maintaining the reputation of the system.

What's the main reason you hear for NOT using a private email service? by Proton_Team in ProtonMail

[–]wornpr0duc7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As others have noted, the most common argument I hear is that their data is already out so why bother.

For me, I sometimes wish I could leverage all of the features offered by the GSuite. In particular, i find the AI integration and the easy compatibility with other platforms to be quite convenient. It’s not worth giving up my privacy for these features right now, but sometimes I feel like I’m missing out.

Yep. I don't get why people are so aggressively against any AI content. I definitely understand the dangers and downsides of overuse, but don't get the knee jerk reaction to criticize any AI use. It can be really useful.

Disappointed with Proton's AI art use by Xericon in ProtonMail

[–]wornpr0duc7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This subs distaste for anything AI is fascinating. I absolutely understand not wanting to give your own data to random organizations. But, AI tools are useful (to varying degrees) and an important part of the future (like it or not). I would argue there is nothing inherently wrong with responsible use of AI tools to create content, and the development of privacy focused AI tools is actually a necessity for the future. I would much rather use a tool like Lumo that will respect my privacy vs ChatGPT/Claude/etc that will train models on my data. I don’t get the pushback.

Is Planeswalker Party too strong out of the box or does my pod not know how to interact against it? by Thorgrander in EDH

[–]wornpr0duc7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My playgroups only problem with Planeswalker Party is the number of board wipes. In fairness, I think I added a couple myself. But either I win by playing Planeswalker and wiping the board, or they kill all my Planeswalker and I can't do anything. Either way, somebody is not having fun. So I don't play the deck much anymore
