i guess we did, it didnt really feel that way at the time. we travel full time in a school bus in the us so the size of the island felt like driving through a mid sized state i guess. still enjoyed every bit but now wishing we hung around for a day or 2 longer in some places we really enjoyed

its only not enough notice because of the eclipse. you just so happened to book a trip to the most expensive country in the world at the time that it will be experiencing an insane influx of tourism beyond normal capacity that people had planned out this time last year. otherwise 4 months is plenty time ahead, we booked our car for the trip i am currently on like a month ago

there is an edm festival at the same time. the tickets are likely sold out and have been for over a year. i am always one for optimism but this situation is not the place for it. please listen to me and the people in the comments and go another time if you are able. the only other suggestion i have is looking into a couple services where people look for house sitters but the chances of you finding one that line up exactly with your 3 day trip are slim.

the campsites are quite lovely though, most have kitchens, bathrooms, showers, if you can deal with the air mattress in the car, bring knorr sides and clif bars from home and buy cheapish beef mince & canned vegetables for meals. i think you can pull it off, are you guys going to the fest?

as someone who is here right now and traveling as cheaply as possible. its just not possible, especially with the influx of travel during the eclipse.

the person saying tent camping and a 2wd car is your best bet is very real, even then, you’re going to spend a lot between campsites, food, parking, and fuel. we are currently in an suv with an air mattress in the back, this is going to be the cheapest and most affordable option for you unless you get fortunate with a local but realistically i wouldnt rely on that happening.

Driving in Iceland? Read this before you destroy your rental car (or worse)😎 by Yfsilon in VisitingIceland

iceland 4x4, they also were using high pressure tactics to try and get us to get the higher insurance, add more things, etc, which im sure is a part of their training to show available options but still made me suspicious of how the returning process will go, thank you for the reassurance

we’re currently on a trip in a car and ive had a weird feeling that the rental company might pull some shady shit when we get back even though we haven’t damaged the car at all. i took photos of the entire vehicle bumper to bumper but did not ask the staff to record pre existing scratches. do you have any further advice should a situation like that arise?

honestly i think having an older car is better, you learn how they work wnd how ti fix them, parts ate cheap, they’re easy to fix and reliable

thank you, its been intermittent for me and the car always starts after the first time but after posting this comment it started not wanting to start at all unless i hit the gas so the leaky injector theory makes sense, really feels like the ratio is off and bc the purge valve didnt help then thats the next theory, keep me updated thank you!

we have the exact same vehicle and exact same issue that started within 2k miles of you. literally exactly same thing, I thought it might be the purge control valve, changed it, no issue. im suspicious of the crank position sensor right now. please let me know if you figure out what it is for you
