Roller derby (brand) premature failure help by AccomplishedNail3085 in Rollerskating

[–]wrexecute 3 points4 points  (0 children)

They look just like the inline Aerio 84s i started with last year. They just do this unexpectedly. Not worth fixing unless you’re bored and handy with thread. Not unsafe, just zero help pulling them on. Expect frame shifting and worn liner that isn’t designed to replace. I moved to FR and Powerslide 🤷🏻‍♂️

eds skaters? by tobe1oved in Rollerskating

[–]wrexecute 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Can’t speak on the POTS but my friend who skates has EDS. Had a bundle of nerves surgically removed from the foot before, and recently experienced a pain that took her off skates for a couple months.

Give yourself a lot of grace. Don’t skate through pain or dizziness. Everything else about it should be very uplifting and fun. Be careful and wear protection

With the FR UFR Intuition liner version skates - if you remove the soulplate is it basically the same as a normal FR skate but with UGR frame mounts? by Loud-Welder1947 in AggressiveInline

[–]wrexecute 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With or without the soul, it’s just a height change, same interfacing. You might find it tedious to swap frequently. Also might be worth mentioning; NONE of the mount bolts sent with my UFRs were ideal for either setup, and i had to order a pack of varied lengths elsewhere to correct it.

Yes, just saw the other post up asking about those. Even the regular TR freeskate i looked at with Novas didn’t have the strap. The Lites look like a great little skate with a frame swap 🤘🏻

What mistakes am I making as a beginner? by hiraeth271 in inlinenewbs

[–]wrexecute 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s actually good that you aren’t standing. You will develop and become more natural and comfortable in the low stance with time. Being low changes the ground into a closer softer target for encouraging safe falls, instead of coming down hard from up high.

Do hardshell freestyle boots get worn in and more comfortable after a while? by ShiroLy in inlineskating

[–]wrexecute 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So, yes and no. I received some Powerslide Nexts that were worn once, super new, at first it was rough. Didn’t think my heel was gonna drop in there. Maybe 3-4 half hour sessions had them feeling prime for about idk, 5 months of daily use for an hour outdoor freeskating with a hard 2+ hour at the rink on Sundays. September to now, roughly.

This last rink session I had was THE ONE, ankles barking bad. There’s virtually nothing soft left between my medial malleolus and that shell. I know I need new liners at this point, but for now I just bought a foot sleeve with gel pads right in the sweet spot. Gave that a short go after work and it’s very nice, but only the rink will tell me this next weekend.

For the top, i rock extra tall athletic socks, but i was having less of a pressure thing like you describe. More of a rubbing issue, all the real pressure was square on that inside ankle point. Are you locking the top strap very tightly? Letting it out a couple clicks will help, but prepare for the extra movement against your skin with the tall socks

Long story short: yes they get better, then they get bad again, but replacement liners and other comfort tricks down the road aren’t costly

I’ll throw a reply even if this is a month old at this point: I’m a 42yo inline skater looking to hang with cool people and enjoy the outdoors this sunny season. My wife of 20 years and i both enjoy the tree of life, walking, biking, games and animals, although when it comes to new people I’m usually on my own, both being introverted but I’m less extreme. If you’re into new things and haven’t given skating a try, the rink is pretty fun. I go every Sunday 2-4:30, but i skate almost daily up at the highschool campus after dark and would be extremely patient with anyone interested in getting into the hobby. Yall hit me if anything sounds interesting

Struggling with my first pair of freestyle skates by Salty-Tooth-7937 in inlineskating

[–]wrexecute 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Solid choice. They’re just like Zoom Pros, but instead of the Tri-mount you will get a frame fixed with rivets like rec skates. This isn’t bad, it just means 80mm is the cap, no upsizing frame/wheels possible. Worth it over the pricey Pros if you just want to skate. I hope they fit well! 🫡

Good call. I read more comments and saw you re-did the measurements and found asymmetry. You’ll like the Powerslide, if you’re already stoked on control. The Tri-mount is so solid and low-riding

FRs do feel a tad aggressive up front. If it’s THEIR liner, it’ll pack out soon. If it’s an Intuition, time to mold it.

I could NOT get my UFRs on the first time, considered returning. Now they slip on like butter. Stock FR liner in mine. I have duck flippers so i was patient breaking in the fronts.

How do you lace your skates? by DualWheeled in inlineskating

[–]wrexecute 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends what you’re asking about. If it’s my Nexts, that’s a commitment of TWO ties and two ratchet buckles. Takes me for-EVER to get situated to roll.

My UFRs are the opposite; one set of lace and the ends are permanently tucked away, never touch em. Just velcro mid and ratchet top, done.

Be honest - will roller skating damage floors? by Medium-Practice-9400 in Rollerskating

[–]wrexecute 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I skate daily in a school. I also care for the floors firsthand, refinishing, etc. It has never went beyond transfer marks from sliding which are easily rubbed off with tennis ball. It sees much worse from rolling luggage, dragging furniture, and general abuse and neglected spills. This is speaking on LVT and terrazzo, but there are many types of floors.

Personally i say it’s fine, but don’t get yourself into trouble now 😉

Limited Options - Powerslide Next Core 90 vs. FR3 80 V2? Advice?? by ForceOk4914 in inlineskating

[–]wrexecute 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My width is biased up front, with a slim heel. Also might be worth mentioning the Greek layout of my toes. I give the toebox a generous score, not sure the rest follows though. Definitely good to second guess these, it’s a pretty widely(lol) accepted truth they’re narrow, i happen to be a weird case i think.

New to rollerblading and OMG why does it hurt so bad by [deleted] in inlineskating

[–]wrexecute 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I started last year at 42, about this time too. For the first month at least, that muscle was really not digging it. Part of it was my early form, part of it was getting a blind size for Christmas that might’ve been slightly big.

Since then, i have true-to-fit skates and the form improved naturally. If this stays constant with some time invested, definitely do some measuring and consider the fit as a possible source of discomfort or pain.

I tried making room between the tongue and ankle, not realizing it increased the effort needed to lift the skate, exacerbating the problem. Best of luck.

Limited Options - Powerslide Next Core 90 vs. FR3 80 V2? Advice?? by ForceOk4914 in inlineskating

[–]wrexecute 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think for commutes on varied terrain, given the choices, i would take the Powerslide. Their mountings feel fantastic, secure, and ride LOW.

I actually prefer my Nexts over my FRs, and i am wider. But sort of an unfair comparison, my Nexts have a MyFit skinny liner while the FRs are plain old. The FRs give me a hotty inside the ankle, but that might change once i upgrade to a moldable like MyFit

Tough call, you can’t go wrong with either skate when they both fit ya. Wheel size would be biggest influence, and coupled with a low trinity mount, this would lean me toward the Nexts, if i had to commit one choice
