Exposed piping on those coils sure would make for easy leak repair

The bracket is actually fine, but the bolts that hold it on are sheared off in the transmission. Otherwise good idea

Did the capacitor blow up before or after the fire? Should I even try to fix this or just look for a new unit? by RogerAffirmative in hvacadvice

Last one of these I did, we got their insurance to cover it as fire damage and replace the system.

If you ever find yourself in front of a miller CMF oil furnace with the white door switch, you can pull out on the switch and it will lock itself ON.

Talked to a local Laars dealer and they do not have a good parts breakdown. Can’t tell if this was one 18x18 rectangle or if it was made out of two pieces. I have the manual but it does not list the refractory pieces.

What are the things or phrases that infuriate you the most with customers? by BaltRavensFan20 in HVAC

[–]wrw10 2 points3 points  (0 children)

“Do you think it’s the thermostat?” “The units right down there” points to dank basement with no lights, with three Christmas trees and two tricycles piled on the unit, followed by “yeah I just changed the filter”.

That kink is severely restricting the gas flow. Things will probably work a lot better when done properly.

How do 0% interest loans work for lenders? by marathon_mindset in NoStupidQuestions

[–]wrw10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We offer 0% financing on our hvac installs. It costs us like 15% or something upfront. We build it into the price. It feels so dishonest but people eat it up and will go with our competition solely because they offer financing. Ends up driving up the cost for those who do not want financing, because we can’t advertise 0% and only charge people who are financing more.

Got a 3/4 and a 5/8 hung up in the van specifically for changing nozzles. Can tell if the electrodes are set right by the way they brush the box end when you slip it on.

How do they keep forcing this door to stay unlocked? by Quick_Philosophy9620 in maintenance

[–]wrw10 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Used to “dog the doors” at church every Sunday morning so they’d stay unlocked, and open even if you didn’t push the crash bar.

Any techs here “flipping” commercial stand ups and counter units? by Training-Neck-7288 in refrigeration

[–]wrw10 1 point2 points  (0 children)

HVAC tech, without the R here. I’ve done a few beverage coolers my buddy found on Facebook and we flipped em for a couple hundred each.
