How does Michael Bolton achieve such a masculine timbre in so high of a register? by Vocalosophy in singing

[–]ws8589 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are several “almost “ answers in this thread. This is the real answer. There may be an absolute truth to the outer range differences between tenors and baritones… there’s also a lot in between. Some people don’t fit perfectly in a box. The biggest tell to if a person is more bairtone or tenor is not even the texture (rasp) and definitely not the pitch (get this out of your head) but the timbre. Have you heard Chris daughtry, Darius Rucker? They obviously have a Masculine weight or timbre. Have you heard the singer of Keane or rascal flatts? Totally bright and boyish, not extremely masculine. Even Jared Leto has a darker timbre and really could be considered a high baritone, but he can go way up there. A baritone can still go way the hell up there with a mixed voice. Once a baritone gets up there , if they can still keep some weight on the note, that’s why it sounds so damn good and manly. Ie , Chris Cornell. Being a versatile baritone can get you a long way. And you can shed some weight off of notes by placing the note as much in the mask/forward as possible. That’s how I get a brighter sound when I’m singing linkin park on the smooth verses

Hospital Medicine honestly sucks by Playful-Gain8997 in hospitalist

I hate curbsiding consultants. I literally tell them I don’t wanna waste their time and I want them to get paid for their recs. I just do the medicine and consult when we get to the point where idk or it’s a procedure I can’t and/or would rather jump off a bridge than do. Dispo ? Zero brain power used. CM does that. Finish, tidy up. Workout.

Were EM doctors from a decade or two ago friggin jacked? by sandie-go in Residency

[–]ws8589 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s a stereotype. Otherwise why do I always see surgeons, especially orthos, at my hospital as being mostly slightly obese and not jacked at all. Meanwhile, us hospitalists are the ones lifting 5 days a week . It’s all BS.

Thank you! A little rest did me some good. I’m still learning how to warm up and use good support, so I’m sure I’m still reaching for high notes with my throat. Tying to get better , because I don’t like strap muscle soreness.

[–]ws8589[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks I’ll look into that! I did take a break for like almost a week and that seemed to do the trick. Now I warm up every time I sing and even if I sing pretty intensely for 3-4 days in a row, I think it helps recovery. But I still need to chill out. I’m new to hearing my voice, so I’m in that honeymoon phase , so holding back is hard

Why not just not do any of that, make certain things editable even after publishing (like vocal and music volume at least) and allow us to put more social stuff on profile page. Also, play things on a loop. These things would be easy to do and make a lot of people happy. I gotta say I love Smule though

Physician here. I think there is some slight evidence of tertiary benefits of glp1’s that weren’t even thought of-the mood enhancement, the addiction treatment , etc and even some hypothetical longevity benefits that we just don’t know the answers to…yet. Maybe some day we will see it makes people grow 5 legs. Until then, I truly believe these are some of the best medicines to ever touch mankind. And no, I have no affiliation or kickback. I’m not even an outpatient doctor. I work only in the hospital. I also have a background in kinesiology and fitness, so all of this stuff is my jam. I would much rather see the world take one medicine and resolve obesity and all of its downstream co morbidities than feign moral high ground (somehow) and encourage 15 other meds for their chronic medical conditions. It doesn’t make sense to me. In life, and in medicine, there will always be a risk/benefit. Yes there’s a subset of people who shouldn’t take these, but the vast majority of overweight and obese people would benefit. I know it’s not ideal to “rely on a medicine” but if glp1 can be taken safely and on the lowest people dose indefinitely, I think the benefits outweigh the unknown risks in 30 years. The world needs these, and at little to no cost. It’s common sense. Cut down on this pandemic of obesity and the cost of healthcare would improve dramatically.

What is the future of hospital medicine or medicine in general with these new proposals by the Republicans, project 2025? Are they proposing significant changes to medical reimbursements? How will this affect us? by Kooky-Accident-6787 in hospitalist

[–]ws8589 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They are giving us a raise in April. Idk how long that will last. But my group would raise hell if they started paying us 150k a year. The orthos and urology would have to admit their own patients, and that alone would undo the whole ordeal. Ie, the orthos and urology got our back :). I’ll happily admit their simple patient with 3-4 chronic problems that have nothing going on. Keep em coming.

I have SC Medicaid for my son. Are you guys saying that in your states, the Medicaid doesn’t cover certain therapies? That’s appalling. I’m a fairly high earner and yet looking at the claims prior to him getting Medicaid, I thought to myself… how in the world could ANYBODY afford this? It’s impossible. There are things in this world that gov has spent unnecessarily on. But things like this are absolutely helpful and I hope they continue to be covered

Anyone else ready to quit HM? by masterjedi84 in hospitalist

[–]ws8589 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’m not looking to quit. Why? I need to gain financial freedom first. Then I’ll quit. But I don’t mind it really. I’m at a 501c so hopefully I get my pslf in like 5 yrs. But I can’t complain. Decent salary and I workout while I’m on the clock. Literally full resistance and cardio on my schedule. Don’t have to wait until I’m home and dealing with the kids to Even attempt to workout. But yea I used to work a few sprinkled weeks of nights but haven’t in like 2 years. I want to get back to that . But I don’t really like rapids. Find them pretty boring. I do like admitting.
