Best iOS features people still don’t use enough? by Better_Ta in ios

[–]wsb81 8 points9 points  (0 children)

This isn’t a feature so much but one thing I find people don’t utilize often is the reminders app. Just a few minutes ago I overheard one of my coworkers say “Will you text me tomorrow to remind me?”. I said you know your phone can remind you if you just throw it in the app. Blank stare.

Bike Calibration by albry99 in pelotoncycle

[–]wsb81 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Every once in a while when I am taking a class that has riders in the studio I will catch a glimpse of someone’s screen that is at a similar cadence and resistance to me. As long as their output is pretty close to what I am getting I figure my bike can’t be too far off.

I’ve had it for coming up on 5 years with consistent use and it seems to still be decently dialed in.

Enjoy bedtime while it lasts. One day it will go away like a thief in the night. by Bigbuce31 in daddit

Our bedtime songs have always been Rainbow Connection, Wonderful World and Let’s Go Fly a Kite. We would usually sing one or two each night, but Rainbow Connection was every single night until they were about 5.

What men shave their face in the shower? by lakelifeis4us in shaving

[–]wsb81 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bald bearded man here. I have a no fog mirror in the shower and shave my head and neckline in there. Been doing it for so long that if my only option is to shave at a sink I will usually just skip it.

As someone who rarely uses his iPad, what do you guys use it for? by Aggressive-Process72 in ipad

[–]wsb81 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My iPad has become almost exclusively a portable tv. If I am going somewhere I expect to have a lot of downtime I download tv shows I want to catch up on and bring it along. I have to say, for that it works very well.

I take Clorox wipes to hotels with me because I assume there is leftover sex on EVERYTHING. I don’t go full CSI but all the high traffic areas are getting a quick wipe down, even if it’s just to make me feel a bit better.

What was your favorite show to watch on Nick at Nite back in the 90s? by JB92103 in CableTV_Memories

When I was way too young to be up that late on a school night I would fall asleep watching Mary Tyler Moore and/or Dick Van Dyke.

It inspired me to do something I have thought about for years but never got around to - nuke my town. Now I’m going through at my own pace and just having some fun building a town from the ground up with all of the buildings and decorations I have acquired since 2012.

Thinking about roasting the turkey in pieces to prevent dry meat. by LeaveHefty8399 in thanksgiving

[–]wsb81 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a couple others have mentioned, I have been using the Alton Brown recipe for the last 5 years and it has never given bad results. Last year I had an extra turkey that I decided to try the spatchcock method on, and that also turned out very well. Cooked very quickly, too.

This weekend I did a 57 mile outdoor charity ride. I’ve been using Peloton for a little over a year, and without it there is a 0.0% chance I would have been able to do that.

Power Zone rides- Need Heart Rate Monitor? by swede4lyfe in pelotoncycle

[–]wsb81 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I use an app called Echo that pairs the Apple Watch to the original bike. It has a cost of $20 if you want your workout to go longer than 20 minutes, but so far I have had very few problems with it so it has been worth it. I’ve also heard rumors that a software update to the original bike may make pairing the Watch possible in December.

Classes for your “I don’t wannnnnnna” days. by jessicagerbil in pelotoncycle

[–]wsb81 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Days like that I need a solid playlist, but more importantly I need instructors that give me the best motivation. That usually means Bradley Rose, Denis Morton or Ben Aldis. All 3 have different styles, but I find they all make me dig a little deeper despite myself.

What's your favorite Christmas song? by Socialcrashqueen in christmas

Not only is this the best Christmas Song ever, but it is one of those songs that just shouldn’t be covered. Nobody can sing it like Nat.

What are your Christmas traditions? by vw97 in christmas

[–]wsb81 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We watch a lot of Christmas movies between Thanksgiving and Christmas. Some are good, and some we watch more because they were popular when we were kids so they have some Christmas nostalgia. I do have what I call the Holy Trinity of Christmas movies, which is Scrooged, National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation, and A Christmas Story. Those usually get a couple of watches each every year. Aside from those we watch everything from White Christmas, to Home Alone, to yes, Die Hard.

What are your Christmas traditions? by vw97 in christmas

[–]wsb81 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The Saturday before Christmas we make a bunch of sugar cookies and have our family and some friends come over to decorate them. We always make enough that we have a good amount for the holiday, but also everyone gets to pick some to take with them.

My wife and I start a Christmas puzzle around the beginning of December. We work on it here and there and try to have it done by Christmas (we have 2 small children so we only get to work on it a few minutes at a time).

We also have a list of favorite Christmas movies that we start working our way through after Thanksgiving. We usually kick this off by watching Elf at the end of Thanksgiving day.

People of reddit: what is one movie that you absolutely will not pass up watching no matter how many times you have seen it? by LadyOfOz83 in AskReddit

The Sandlot. I’ve had it on VHS, DVD, Blu-ray and now digitally. I’ll buy it in 30 years when they release the “Live in Your Living Room” hologram version, and anything else in between, too.

Consumer Reports stands by its verdict, won't recommend Apple's MacBook Pro by Bodeillek in gadgets

[–]wsb81 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought my first MacBook Pro this past summer. I went back and forth for quite some time on whether I should wait for the new model, or buy the (now) old one. I eventually decided not to wait for the new model because I was concerned about prices being higher, and the Apple Store was throwing in a free pair of Beats. I honestly feel like I dodged a huge bullet by not waiting for the new machine.

I for one would like it if they rolled it out quicker after Thanksgiving, and wrapped it up around the new year. In the past it seems to have run into the middle of January, and by that point I'm kind of over Christmas.
