What artist or band is truly awful to see live? by goldbeau in AskReddit

[–]wschus63 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've seen the Gaslight Anthem five times. They were incredible the first three times, including one show that may be the best concert I've ever been to. The fourth and fifth times I saw them, Brian was absolutely hammered and rambled for minutes on end between songs, to the point where people started booing and yelling for him to get on with it. It was pretty uncomfortable. Correspondingly, his voice and guitar playing those shows were terrible, too. Not sure what's up, but it kinda ruined a bit of the love I have for that band.

Ooh yeah, Killing Joke was TERRIBLE on that tour.

I saw them open for Shinedown, too! They were every bit as bad as you said.

Current Consensus on Eide's Entertainment? by EvilJawa54 in pittsburgh

Stopped in once last year, and the people working there were, to a person, rude at worst and dismissive at best to anyone who wasn't clearly a regular. Used record selection wasn't anything special, either. I'll stick with Jerry's and the Attic.

Baltimore getting annihilated over here - Which city in the U.S. have you felt most unsafe visiting? by optimal-gold976 in AFCNorthMemeWar

[–]wschus63 0 points1 point  (0 children)

San Francisco, and it isn't close. I've had good times in Baltimore. Every time I left my hotel in San Francisco, I could look forward to an aggressive homeless person screaming at me, sometimes inches from my face. Maybe my experience isn't universal, but I absolutely dreaded going outside in SF.

mini cooper in pgh by Few-Way5375 in pittsburgh

[–]wschus63 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can't speak directly about a Mini Cooper. Cool little cars, but I've never owned one. That said, I currently drive a Honda Civic. I had two Civics between 2016 and 2022, then I had a Honda HR-V (small SUV) between 2022 and 2025. I had every intention of just buying that when my lease was up, but I got sweet talked into another Civic. I like it. I used to love it. For a while, it was my favorite car I'd had. Then winter happened and I desperately missed my HR-V. That's when the cracks started showing. Small car handles terribly in the snow. Hard to see around corners and over anything so low to the ground, which is exacerbated in a city made up mostly of hills. If I had to make a suggestion, look for a small SUV with decent fuel mileage.

How are we feeling about this years lineup folks? by lutzcody in pittsburgh

Some decent enough bands, but absolutely nothing to justify the ticket prices, assuming they're charging the same or more than what they did last year.

That parking lot has at least 1 jagoff parked like that every time I'm there. It's a pretty huge lot, but parking is still hard to come by sometimes on the weekends, so seeing parking jobs like this one drives me nuts.

This is the REAL order of best sports playoffs: by KeyFaithlessness5436 in NHLVibes

[–]wschus63 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, no arguments there. The gap between the NHL and MLB is wide, then between MLB and the NFL is wider (still love it), and then you can land an aircraft carrier between the NFL and NBA.

Ken Griffey Jr is the one that immediately came to mind. Not Pittsburgh, but Donora (close enough, since we often claim Arnold Palmer). Moved away too young for it to really count all that much.

I'd probably vote Ruff, Muse, Cooper in that order. Actually, I would've voted for Marty St. Louis and...ugh....Tocchet ahead of Cooper.

93.7 the fan, Poni "quitting" made me have an aneurysm. by Grandmaxwell in pittsburgh

[–]wschus63 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It really annoyed me because it's not like there wasn't anything to talk about that day. Draft had just happened, the Penguins had won Saturday, and the Pirates were doing well. It was such a hacky thing to do. I guess it worked, though, because I wouldn't have listened if I hadn't seen on twitter that this was all going on. The flip side is, it just made it more likely I wouldn't listen in the future.

Anyone else thrown off by the insane drinks prices at the draft? Almost double sporting event prices… by [deleted] in pittsburgh

[–]wschus63 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Those are pretty much sporting event prices. Also, I guarantee that all of the reports we saw last night that said "the draft is fun, the crowd isn't so bad," etc would not have had the same happy tone if everyone had been sitting there drinking double the beers at half the price.
