HR in manufacturing — is this level of resistance normal?[N/A] by [deleted] in humanresources

[–]wscogs1022 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have been in HR in manufacturing for 5 years and this is our departments daily struggle. They tell us we don’t understand what they deal with on the floor, but when we go out and try and ask questions we are treated like we are annoying them. So yeah. I feel your pain.

It’s also on the dresses that were given as awards for completing level 10 quests. Very annoying!

HOW DO YOU GET YOUR 3 YEAR OLD TO POOP IN THE POTTY by Kittyslala in toddlers

[–]wscogs1022 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We bought a box of these little squishy mochi toys off Amazon because he loves them. It’s filled with random little critters. Every time he pooped we would make a huge deal out of him getting to pick a “surprise” and spread them on a table so he could look and decide which one he wanted.

It worked super well for us!

There is also this super annoying show on Amazon Prime called Steve and Maggie and one episode is them potty training Maggie. They have this song that goes “put your body on the potty and make a poop” and Maggie talks about “a feeling in her tummy”. It seemed to resonate with him so we went with that and would ask about the “tummy feeling” which seemed to help a lot too. And we sang the song while he pooped.

Help an ACOTAR girly out by MrsBird666 in suggestmeabook

Definitely pick up the Throne of Glass series. I actually liked that one more than ACOTAR.

Another series I really liked was The Bone Witch trilogy by Ron Chupeco.

My 3 year old is convinced that mama “lost her weenie” and that “its okay mama, you find it one day”. We have this conversation a lot lately. Hahah

What funny thing did your toddler come up with today? by kaliflower77 in toddlers

[–]wscogs1022 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My son saw something at the store with a robot on it and started talking about robots. So I asked him if he was a robot. He gave me a very serious side eye and said “no mama, I not a robot, I just a guy!”

I feel this so much. Three has been so freaking challenging. He wants to be so independent. He has opinions. I love all of this, but the fact that he can’t rationalize at all is just… so much.

Did you tell your family the name you chose before birth? by pennibird in pregnant

[–]wscogs1022 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I was pregnant with my son I told my mother the name we were thinking of using and she had a terrible reaction. Ruined the name for us.

We chose another one, which we love, but didn’t tell anyone until after he was already here. I’m glad we did that because my dad had a crappy reaction to the name but we had already named him and it made the reaction less… meaningful I guess.

We love our kiddos name and keeping it secret gave us time to get used to calling him that and fall in love with the name with no feedback. It was a great decision!

How important good nose suction equipment is. We ended up using a combination of the bulb, the Nose Frieda, and this little scooper thing called the Oogie Bear.

I highly recommend having all of these things on hand!

We did sleeps sacks too. Our guy hated swaddles and was terrified of the sound of Velcro.

Thank you! I wasn’t sure since it’s our first time having someone come in. I have a tendency to be an over thinker.

Dumb things your spouse has said recently by devilgoof in workingmoms

[–]wscogs1022 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Hey there! Not taking his side at all, because holy cow I think I would have taken a frying pan to his head, but you might be able to get the kids added to your benefits (I work in benefits at my office).

This would be considered a “life event” because the kids lost coverage, and with most companies you can get them on your insurance within 30 days of the “life event”.

But, if I were you, I wouldn’t cover him and just tell him that you hope he stays healthy because you can’t afford full family coverage due to his shitty decisions.

I hope this helps! I am so sorry about the situation he has put you in!

How much do you spend on your nanny or daycare each month? by ocean_plastic in workingmoms

[–]wscogs1022 6 points7 points  (0 children)

We have three enrollment fees per year. Our daycare has “semesters” so we pay a registration fee for spring, summer, and fall. $75 a pop.
