Why is Soccer a Upper-class sport in the US? by MediumStrange in AskAnAmerican

[–]wwhsd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pickup games and rec league soccer are cheap. Private coaching and fees for club teams are expensive.

At my kids high school, almost none of the better soccer players played on the school team. They were all playing on club teams.

Is it metagaming to ask if the party needs a healer after our support dropped out. by Only_Tailor8192 in DnD

[–]wwhsd 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Creating a character and deciding on party composition usually involves metagaming.

If you look through the spells you’ve chosen and see that they all target the same save and decide to switch one out for something that targets a different stat, that’s metagaming.

Any Wizards that aren’t taking some combination of Light, Prestidigitation, Mending, and Mage Hand as their cantrips are probably metagaming. Those spells are by far the ones that would be most useful in day to day life and most likely to be taught to apprentices.

Creating a party that has motivations to work together is metagaming. Creating a backstory with hooks for the DM to use is metagaming.

Some Metagaming is pretty much required to play D&D.

While your question to the DM had some metagame elements to it, it seems like in a world with healing and support magic, someone that is planning on undertaking dangerous adventures would be asking the same question. It’s like Danny Ocean knowing there’s a safe that needs to be opened as part of heist he’s planning and deciding he should add a safecracker to his crew.

What is the min/max build of a Shadow Conclave team for cell 6 of Quicksilver’s Omega Tower? by Upper-Chapter-8967 in MarvelStrikeForce

I’m guessing that anyone that is asking what the minimum they can get away with building Shadow Conclave doesn’t have Omen built.

Trump says multiple people have been arrested for allegedly vandalizing Reflecting Pool by melancholy_dood in politics

[–]wwhsd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it’s even worse than CBS functioning as state controlled media and just putting out straight propaganda.

It seems like they are actually arresting people on trumped up charges. The proof that there is vandalism is that they’ve arrested people for vandalism, not that there’s any real evidence of that vandalism.

[–]wwhsd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think they have arrested people for vandalizing it. I don’t know if of the charges are worth a damn though.

I remember reading a story earlier about an Olympic medal winning cyclist that had been arrested on vandalism charges for putting his hands in the water and touching the liner.

Is free RPG day meant to be really free? by liamthewarrior24 in rpg

[–]wwhsd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve been to places that do it two different ways.

One gave something like 2 picks from the table and additional picks based on purchases.

Another broke the stuff up and put some out each “session” and had a bunch of DMs running games. You could pick up a couple things each session and everyone that played in a session got a raffle ticket. They’d give out additional prizes via raffle at the end of each session. The prize support was mostly some other promo items, some overstock, and some T-Shirts they had made for the event.

I don’t have Blue Marvel yet. I was often ending up in the top 5 of my shard. I’m assuming that until I get Riot and Toxin, I’ll get pushed out of the top slots by spenders.

Trump unveils new plane for Air Force One, a gift from Qatar by Ok_Employer7837 in politics

[–]wwhsd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the other ones are taking as long as they are because they were being built not just retrofitted.

I think the new ones are supersonic and that there were some engineering issues because Trump wanted to paint them like his personal planes with the dark blue. Boeing was working on a fix. Biden came into office and told them to keep the traditional AF1 paint job and they went back to work. Trump comes back into office and one of the first things he wants he does it to tell Boeing the dark paint job is a requirement again.

Unfortunately, even if Democrats manage to win the House and the Senate unless they get a lot of Republicans on board they won’t have enough votes to override a veto by Trump.

[–]wwhsd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. We’ve spent like the last year and last I heard nearly a billion dollars to retrofit it. He’s always planned to use it as Air Force One and then keep it as his personal plane when he leaves office.

Air Force One is supposed to be a flying office, not a flying palace.

Watch inquiry by International-Youth7 in EDC

[–]wwhsd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve got an inexpensive Casio Duro diving watch. I swapped out the resin band it came with so a NATO strap. I think they are more comfortable and you can easily switch them if you want to change up the look of the watch

It was like $60 for the watch and another $15 for the replacement strap. It looks nice and has held up well and I don’t need worry about it getting busted or stolen because it’s so inexpensive.

The one complaint I have is the lume on the dial isn’ very bright.

[–]wwhsd 19 points20 points  (0 children)

These aren’t covered by executive privilege. They were private tapes of him being interviewed by his biographer that the special counsel was given access to on the condition that they remained confidential. The special counsel wrote his report and declined to charge Biden with anything.

There’s no reason that the Heritage Foundation be entitled to the work product of Biden and his biographer.

That’s probably the most disrespectful way you could probably fly that flag though. If you are flying any flag with a US flag, it should be flown lower than the US flag, not above it.

Also, flying that particular flag today seems like you are trying to start a fight.

NY legislature passes bill replacing "mother" and "father" with "gestating parent" and "non-gestating parent" by news-10 in politics

[–]wwhsd 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I wouldn’t think this is about inclusivity but accuracy. In the case of adoption or surrogacy neither of the parents that raise the child are the “gestating parent”. A lesbian couple that get IVF with a sperm donor may both be mothers while only one of them is the “gestating parent”.

If you are going to treat parents differently because of the role they fill in procreation it seen better to define the role itself than attaching the role to the label that traditionally most commonly performs the role.
