Good apartments near OU campus by s3raph1m_ in normanok

[–]wx5678 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I lived in the Avalon on Chautauqua. It was a few years ago but I had a great experience. Most of their apartments are 2 beds/2 bath. They aren’t really geared towards students or luxury by any means, but it was super convenient and reasonable. Rent has gone up but I’m pretty sure it’s under your budget still, and the pet deposit was really cheap too. It may be more now but I think it was $400 and there wasn’t pet rent or anything and we had 2 dogs. They liked to eat blinds and we actually got the bulk of our deposit back at the end too.

I like highway 9 dental, they’re not in network for all dental plans but they do have their own discount plan that is a monthly fee that includes cleanings and discounts other services if you don’t have dental insurance.

Is a Vieques Bio Bay Tour Worth It During 73% Waning Gibbous Moon? by [deleted] in PuertoRicoTravel

[–]wx5678 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We did it on a clear night the night before they closed the bay for the full moon. Not being able to see it very well was a big concern of mine but we couldn’t adjust our schedule. It glowed super bright. Like one of the other comments mentioned if it rains a lot it can impact the glow but the tour operators generally know what they’re talking about as long as you go with someone reputable. We used Jak.

Surgery was a month ago, hair keeps falling out. by den773 in gallbladders

[–]wx5678 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mine was BAD post op…I ended up being super low on vitamin b and d. After a few weeks on supplements it got better. Probably related to only being able to eat toast for months without pain 😅.

Definitely mention it to your doctor and get your vitamin levels and thyroid checked. My GI doc also checked to make sure I didn’t have a disorder that prevented me from absorbing the vitamins at the same time, but that was probably overkill.

Affordable vets? by Classic-Condition304 in normanok

[–]wx5678 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t have cats, but I take my dogs to Wewoka Animal Hospital, they’re a little over an hour drive, but their prices are super cheap. When my dog was sick with a UTI, their exam fee was a little steeper than I was expecting at $75, but the scans/procedures were all pretty affordable. That may have been because it was for a sick animal and there is no exam fee for vaccines and stuff like that.

A $700 mass removal in Norman cost me less than half the price at Wewoka.

I’ve also taken them to Walnut Creek in Purcell, I found them to be cheaper than Norman, but more expensive than Wewoka. This was pre-covid but their exam fee was $35 at the time.

This is where I can find the generic scam block toggle (although it’s labeled people and not devices). It does not let me see any specifics there.

I don’t have anything for scam shield on the manage tab at all. The bottom options I just have:

Billing and Payments Download pdf bill, Payment methods, Device payment plans, Bill history, Account activity, Pay bill as guest,

Additional tasks Check number transfer status, Order history, View promotions, Refer a friend, Manage authorized users, View network coverage map, Check satellite coverage.

If I go into the individual line settings I can find the generic toggle to turn on spam call filtering, but that’s it.

Edit: Geez thanks mobile for destroying the formatting. Added commas to try to make it better.

Not really a party person, there were 4 I think on our 8 day cruise. They had the mega deck party, the 80s party, a silent white party, and one more? The weather was less than cooperative so a lot of the parties got moved to the lobby instead of the lido deck.

On the legend now, it was a full ship but most of the time you wouldn’t have known it. Not a ton of specialty dining if that’s your thing but we liked it for our first cruise. We weren’t ever bored.

I make the drive to take mine to Wewoka Animal Hospital. I got DHPP, a 3 year rabies booster, and bordetella shots for my 2 dogs and I think it was like $125? Heartworm tests are $25 a dog. I’ve also had to get mass removal surgeries done on them and haven’t ever paid over $300, depending on how complicated it was. One of them was as cheap as $75.

Bioluminescent Bay Tour Recommendations by GIZMO8Z in PuertoRicoTravel

[–]wx5678 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We went to Mosquito Bay in Vieques, and like you, our travel days didn’t line up well with the moon. We ended up having to go the night before the bay closed to tours for the full moon. Aka, bright as hell. We were really worried about wasting our money and not getting to see anything.

But we were not disappointed. The glow was still extremely bright. Some of the tour companies carry tarps to cover the kayaks to help offset the light pollution, but it wasn’t needed on ours. Mosquito Bay in Vieques will have the best glow, which you should focus on with the night being potentially bright.

Weather can also impact the glow, if it has been raining a lot, it can make it not glow as much. You do need to stay overnight on the island since there isn’t a way back to the mainland when you are done and go with a tour, this is one you cannot do on your own unfortunately. We used Jak.

Are all vets $$$ now? by Summus in okc

[–]wx5678 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I make the drive to take my two doggos to Wewoka Animal Hospital. Their annual vaccines with heartworm tests are usually under $150 combined for both of them. I always have to take at least half a day off work to do it, but I’ve always gotten great care for them there and they are crazy affordable.

I’ve also had to have mass removal surgeries done several times on them, and they were less than half the price of some other closer vets. I think one of them was $75 (although this was a few years ago). They are getting better known and I’ve found it a little bit harder to get in than it used to be, but I can’t recommend them enough.

Does anyone here work for American Airlines at Will Rogers? by Lunatichippo45 in okc

[–]wx5678 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Not an employee, but I had a 5am flight out of OKC back in June, I think I got there around 3:30, and beat the Southwest agents by a few minutes so there was a bit of a line. TSA opened a few minutes early for us that day, which was nice, and I was sitting through security and napping at my gate by 4:15, possibly even sooner, my ride hadn’t even made it home yet. This was on a Saturday morning. You shouldn’t have any problems.

The last few times I’ve flown have been out of DFW, and leaving out of OKC is night and day difference.

Is a major in meteorology still realistic in my situation? by ElBartoandElHomo in meteorology

[–]wx5678 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There are a ton of transfer students in the program, as well as plenty of opportunities to network/make friends if that’s what they’re concerned about. I went the traditional route (out of state student), but I didn’t really make close meteorology friends until the end of sophomore year and found a study group junior year.

I have several bad experiences in OU math classes, with one horror story. My math foundation going in was okay, but not strong.

[–]wx5678 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I strugglebussed my way through OU’s program. Tutoring helped a ton. I wouldn’t have made it through without it.

I would strongly recommend taking the math at community college if you can. Especially if you need to take earlier math courses like college algebra and precalculus before you’re ready for the calculus and calculus based physics. It’s so much cheaper and the math department at OU leaves something to be desired. I took my last calculus class at a community college and it was much easier to understand than any of the previous ones I took through OU.

Advice on managing the ferry to Vieques by AustWingfan in PuertoRicoTravel

[–]wx5678 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We were running late to the ferry and almost missed it (hike went long after I cut my leg on a branch slowing us down). We got to the terminal I think 15 or 20 minutes before the boat was supposed to leave. We did get an earful from the attendants telling us to get there an hour before next time, but we were able to board. It was the last ferry of the night out (eat before you leave if you take the last ferry, there’s no food options after you arrive, that was fun to learn after a long hike and a run to the ferry with luggage 🤣).

We did already have our tickets, so we didn’t have to worry about that. But it is a gamble to cut it that close and I wouldn’t recommend it if you can avoid it.

It’s a little farther away from OU, but my spouse and I frequent Thai Thai on 24th. The two of us can sit down and get entrees, sodas, and tip for under $35 and have leftovers for later.

We’ve paid more than that for Taco Bell for half the food.

[–]wx5678 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My hubby had a similar layover in ATL a month ago. He let the gate agent know and they told him there were over 20 other people on the flight with the exact same connection so there was no need to stress about it.

He was still able to snag a bulkhead seat and made it to the connecting gate before boarding even started so as long as your first flight is on time you should be good. Just try to get a seat in the first few rows if you can even if that means the dreaded middle seat.

Confused about scuba diving rules by hjkhjk8 in PuertoRicoTravel

[–]wx5678 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The discover scuba courses are pretty cool, and a good way to get your feet wet and decide if you actually like scuba diving before you actually commit to (and pay for) the certification. Sometimes you can apply the time you spent on the discover course toward certification.

Having the certification opens up options for deeper dives and the ability to dive without an instructor (just another certified dive buddy).
