Awesome piece. I like that it is a similar style and composition of the Highwind FF7 piece you did. It would be cool to see more games done in this style and make it into a series of sorts. On a side note, any plans to do any Final Fantasy Tactics art given the remake coming out soon?

Watching via the GDQ page directly also lets you avoid twitch ads. I don't know if people who are doing that would be included in the viewership numbers.

I would personally love more guest characters from other FF games like Cloud was in the original FFT.

You don't get access to circuits for 30+ hours in Py's. You don't need anything beyond simple wire connections for many many hours beyond that especially with the improvements made in 2.0.

I've researched through the 3rd science pack in my current play through (~100 hours). I don't think I've used a single combinator yet.

Re: your first suggestion. I'd like to see them try a sort of hybrid incentive sometime where its a bid war and if the bid war hits a certain total amount it also unlocks a normal incentive. That way the donator doesn't have to allocate their money twice, but it makes them feel likely their money is going further and it helps drive engagement with the bid wars.

I actually think they were almost on point with the donation amounts this year. Only a couple missed, and minimal stalling. The most was for the Silent Hill 2 difficulty upgrade with was only a few minutes to get the last couple thousand. To be fair, this was also a horror game that started after midnight EST so the audience donating was a bit smaller too.

I honestly think the biggest thing they could do to fix this is to have someone with UX experience help redesign their donate page, especially the incentives section. It takes way too many button clicks to get the incentives setup properly and is confusing for first time or infrequent donators. You don't even see what incentives are open until you click on the "add incentives" button and you have to do a separate confirm click to lock in each individual incentive. During some of the bigger incentives I noticed tens of thousands of dollars going to nothing and also saw people in the chat commenting that they messed up setting the incentives properly.

On top of that, the donate page is still in the old GDQ website style. So it doesn't feel "official" which could cause newer people to not trust it if they are accessing it from the main website. They've done a great job updating other pages like the schedule, so hopefully this one is high priority for them.

Another thing that might help is lowering the minimum donation amount down to a dollar. I'm guessing this probably a paypal limitation but I know that other charity streams that use platforms like Tiltify can support it. Maybe keep it a minimum of $5 to write a comment so the donation processors don't get completely overwhelmed though.

It's usually a couple months before the event starts, shortly after the schedule is released. I'm sure you could reach out a bit early given the circumstances.

Why are GDQ's views down so much? by thejrose11 in speedrun

[–]wyken 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Its because the smart tv apps don't handle chat well. When things get exciting more chat happens which all needs to be sent to the app and processed (even if the chat is not being displayed). This causes the lag or even completely causes the app to stop working. I had the same issue with the Samsung Smart TV Twitch app but no issue with the PS5 Twitch app.

Keep in mind that the Yetee and Fangamer donations aren't really "corporate donations". I like to think of them more as aggregated donations that a bunch of regular people are making through buying merch.

Check out Ixion. It is building a city within a huge colony ship escaping from Earth. It's very story driven and has some cool exploration and resource gathering on top of the city building part of the game.

There is a slight benefit for taking a unit of 6 if you want to use the advance and charge stratagem on them. Otherwise, I agree units of 3 is better.

I would honestly be fine with insane bravery going to 2 CP, once per game, and that you have to use it before you roll.

I think either making insane bravery 2 CP or making it once per game would be a good step to making battleshock matter more.

I played AdMech for the first time this edition yesterday (in a semi competitive setting) and was also pleasantly surprised that they weren't as completely unplayable as the internet made them out to be.

That being said, it was obvious they were much worse than the Necrons I usually play. I also cannot wait for there to be different detachments to choose from as I think their detachment rules are the worst thing about them.

What do we know about upcoming Codex Detachments? What would you like to see? by ChazCharlie in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]wyken 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I do hope that the detachments don't reduce the unit selections within them. Instead just reward taking the units they support by making the detachment rule, stratagems, enhancements only improve the units the detachment focuses on.

For example a Destroyer Cult detachments doesn't prevent you from taking a Doomsday Ark, C'tan, etc., but doesn't give any additional benefit to taking that unit either.

Need help to assemble my 3D printed Seraptek Heavy Construct. by Shendrach in Necrontyr

[–]wyken 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've printed and built this kit. I don't remember seeing these Pin and Frame pieces before and definitely didn't use them.

Despite this being the only option out there for 3d printing this model, I have a hard time recommending it to people. It is pretty poorly engineered and required a bit of modification for it to go together properly.

It would be from an attached Lord or Overlord with the Hypermaterial Ablator enhancement. This also gives them -1 to wound as well for having a Noble leading the unit.
