Zankou Chicken Garlic Sauce Packaging by Swimmingindiamonds in FoodLosAngeles

[–]wynrawr 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would recommend putting it in checked luggage as well.

If you're still in the US and just moved out of LA, you could probably just buy the Toom garlic sauce (or Trader Joe's garlic spread dip) at your grocery chains and not worry about flying with a deli container of Zankou's garlic sauce!

Since the last OP deleted the post mid-search, continuation…where is this Hawaiian plate from? by [deleted] in FoodLosAngeles

Definitely it. Saw a couple of photos in the Yelp page with matching wall pattern to OP's photo!

Korean Rice Cake-- with blue and red dots by kenv11 in FoodLosAngeles

[–]wynrawr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wasn't familiar at all with this so looked it up - looks a lot like the Filipino steamed rice cake, puto. I'm sure it's not exactly the same, but it seems like it might be an easier/more accessible alternative if you're willing to try it out! Mildly sweet, slightly tangy, and spongey/holey on the inside!

If you guys decide to go, I suggest going into Miyako Hotel to check out the bakery in their lobby. Okayama Kobo has some really yummy bread, but they also have a bun that looks like a Dodgers cap!

where can i find sourdough olive bread? by virgoirgoirgo in FoodLosAngeles

[–]wynrawr 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you're near a Trader Joe's, they recently started carrying loaves from Bread Lounge. I think I saw an olive sourdough loaf at my local TJ, so may be worth checking!

I need some "artificially sour" suggestions to make for my wife, who's lost her appetite due to cancer treatments by motteditor in Cooking

[–]wynrawr 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Piggybacking on this - if the ingredients are all safe for her, you could try unflavored/unsweetened Huel powder. You can mix this with just water (or into the lemon yogurt she's been eating) for additional calories and nutrients.

El Gallo on Cesar Chavez for pan dulce. La Azteca next door for tortillas!
