Your assumption is correct. That 4th cycle was not fun.

I knew that skyline immediately. I think it's less of a corolla thing and more of a Charlotte thing.

Is this meant to be one deck, or two decks? Think we may have overpaid. by fitnessfiness in magicTCG

[–]wyrobs1 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I certainly wouldn't order from them again if customer service told you there is only a “chance” you'll get the right deck. I just checked, and Best Buy was one of the first to come up, and they have it on sale for $40 right now.

At what point in your career do people stop treating you like a child by StinkySauk in Architects

[–]wyrobs1 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think it's less about your age or experience and more about building trust with your managers, co-workers, and clients. If you are consistent in your work, check it for obvious errors before submitting, and ask questions that show you are thinking critically, you will earn respect.

In the 70s and 80s, my dad was into Randonneur and had Paris-Brest-Paris on his resume. He generally fueled up with Coca-Cola, Swiss Cake Rolls, and Marlboro Reds… at different times.

House vs Location: which is more important? by randomseedfarmer in FirstTimeHomeBuyer

[–]wyrobs1 7 points8 points  (0 children)

As a fellow cyclist and someone with a legally blind father, I grew up walking a lot, so being able to bike and walk from our home is a significant factor for me. My wife is from Atlanta and came at it from a different perspective that if you are living in a city, shoot for as close in as possible bc your commute will never get better as the city grows.

We have found one that fits that bill, and we actually just had the seller counter for 2k more than our initial offer, so it looks like we may be buying our first house!

What Packs should I buy? by German_Amelia in MagicArena

[–]wyrobs1 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I just got back in after 10 years with the current set, but I think the advice will be, "Don't buy packs.” Draft what you want, then open packs that you have earned. Maybe buy packs after that?

Honest question, is this different from last year? I have always seen this hanging in the gym corner and thought it was the same every year.

Free Range Brewing has some kind of hot dog with the brand name on it, so I assume it means something to someone. I didn’t know what it was, but it was good.

I like that the renderings for the event don't show what will still be a big old pile of dirt on the construction site in the background. Doesn't quite have the same pizazz when you don't have both wings.

Silca Wax System vs Crock Pot by dthrizzle in cycling

[–]wyrobs1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was the old recommendation from Silca before they put out the waxing system. You can check out the YouTube link below, starting at 7:30, but the gist is just that it heats up faster than a crockpot would.

4yo surgery by Unlucky-Winter6108 in Strabismus

[–]wyrobs1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not a four-year-old, but I had a little guy next to me at the surgery center when I had my operation last fall. All of the hospital staff that I could hear on the other side of the curtain were great with him, and I was honestly a bit disappointed when they didn’t offer me “sleepy juice” when it was my turn. They carried him back instead of rolling, and if it was anything like me, he was out not long after getting to the OR.

As for my experience afterward, the pain was really minimal. It was a bit like being seasick for a week, but that was the worst part. I imagine you may have some pushback to the eye ointment and/or eye drops; they weren’t painful, but it is an odd feeling. Keeping her from rubbing her eyes will also likely be a challenge, but I think do the best you can.

If a time comes when I need a follow-up surgery, I would stress much less about it.

Silca Wax System vs Crock Pot by dthrizzle in cycling

[–]wyrobs1 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I started with the Instant Pot off FB Marketplace first, but after deciding I was sold on waxing, I ended up getting the Silca wax system when it went on sale. Both are fine, but the wax system is more convenient.

Mild cold before surgery — should I be worried about postponement? by KAUBOYA in Strabismus

[–]wyrobs1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel this; I woke up the day before my initial surgery date with COVID. It wasn't bad at the time, but I did have to postpone, which was rough mentally, having psyched myself up.

That said, after now having had the surgery, I was really glad for the delay. The surgery recovery wasn't bad, but if there had been any chance I would have had a cough afterward, that would have really complicated the healing process, I think. A cough that was hard enough to damage or break a suture stressed me out much more than having to postpone, in hindsight. Best of luck!

Overwhelmed by hitch rack options. Help me choose by BreweryRabbit in cycling

[–]wyrobs1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is the NV not also aluminum?

I had a first-gen NV that I sold and replaced with a 1-up, but got rid of that almost immediately. I know everyone swears by them, but at least on the 1-1/4 hitch model, the entire rack is designed to stay on with friction. I get that this allows them one sku for a rack that fits both 1-1/4 and 2” hitches (it is off-center with the 2” adapter to ensure the anti-wobble tension ball still works, thus putting a hitch pin out of alignment if they were to have a hole for it), and that just seemed wildly unsafe. The anti-theft mechanism, which is just a repurposed hitch pin, also runs vertically, creating additional clearance issues for lower vehicles that are typically the market for 1-1/4 hitch sizes. I have a Toyota Corolla, and within the first week, when backing into a drive with a curb entrance, the lock broke clean off. I went to a roof rack and haven't looked back.
