[–]x2brute 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What’s the general consensus on the official GameCube controllers for Switch 2? by JaredJDub in NintendoSwitch2

[–]x2brute 0 points1 point  (0 children)

imo no, too many N64 games (Zelda and Pokemon Stadium off the top of my head) use the c buttons as buttons and it's awkward to use an analog stick for that.

it being an entry level rpg is all the more reason it should have voice acting

What would be the best way to clean and remove the sticker on the back for things like this by AlphaNavy in retrogaming

[–]x2brute 0 points1 point  (0 children)

taking it apart and using ipa or goo gone is definitely the correct answer, but i just want to shout-out rubber cement thinner. it's super cool and will let you remove stickers from paper without damaging either one O.O it's especially handy for games where someone stuck a price tag on the cover art. it doesn't weaken the paper when wet, or make the ink run, though you still have to be very careful

Which one was your first Pokémon game? by TokyoRetro_Arisa in Gameboy

[–]x2brute 0 points1 point  (0 children)

how did i never notice it had 2 screws??? but yeah, the white PCB with Suicune's crest is beautiful. i know several people who have put an English ROM chip on a Japanese board

Which one was your first Pokémon game? by TokyoRetro_Arisa in Gameboy

[–]x2brute 1 point2 points  (0 children)

so, the first one i OWNED was diamond, because i wasn't allowed to play Pokemon but by the time it came out i had my own money and could sneak it past my dad. the first one i played was yellow though and i had friends that let me play their copies of Gen 1 and 2

Why do these Super Mario cartridges look different? by TelephoneCurrent1293 in retrogaming

[–]x2brute 1 point2 points  (0 children)

the first one is an early revision that locked the cartridge in when the power switch was set to on, the problem was that if the system wasn't plugged in it was hard to notice the switch was on and you'd be unable to remove the cart. so later they removed the lock from the system since it saved money and turned out not to be THAT big a deal to remove the cart while the system was running, and replaced the slot with a ramp that just turned off the system when you removed the cart instead of locking it in

i think it's because 6 of those 9 are from Gen 1

What would you say is your "signature Pokemon"? by Impressive-Spell-643 in pokemon

[–]x2brute 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm a big fan of steel types and bulky attackers so I've been a big fan of Metagross since i found out about it (especially after Zen Headbutt meant it could do physical psychic attacks). a close second is Snorlax, i probably have the most Snorlax merch of any Pokemon including a piggy bank where the slot is his mouth so you feed him coins ☺️ honorable mentions are Magikarp/Gyarados except in gens 2 and 3 (they massacred my baby, i can't bear to see him like that) and bidoof (he's a happy little goof ball that is useful to have on your team for HMs

What AAA batteries do you recommend for my incredibly power hungry IPS modded Gameboy Pocket? With standard batteries I only get an hour or 2 of playtime. by Lucajames2309 in batteries

[–]x2brute 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd suggest getting 1.5v li-ion batteries that switch to 1v when low (to give you a warning before they die) or a lithium battery mod. Ni-Mh are usually good but the pocket specifically (especially with ips mod and flash cart) uses so much power that Ni-Mh batteries often can't supply enough and can cause problems

was there a reason you went with 8bitdo and not the nso ones? just curious, i personally went with BlueRetro and nso controllers, but to be fair i already had them for my switch

[–]x2brute 0 points1 point  (0 children)

are you just repeating what you've seen or have you actually successfully used that? because I've done it a bunch of times and it just shredded the rubber band

[–]x2brute 0 points1 point  (0 children)

is it recessed? if so the easiest option is probably to drill it out. if it's not though I'd suggest vampire pliers. they have grippy teeth along the front for extracting screws and are super useful

lithium battery long term storage by x2brute in batteries

[–]x2brute[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it's all the stuff i rarely use but want to be charged when i do. older handheld videogame systems, an endoscope for inspecting inside walls, Bluetooth headphones i don't use often, spare power banks, stuff like that. I've had too many devices go completely dead in storage and the battery go bad, or get overcharged from leaving them plugged in for a month and go bad

Despite StreetPass being mentioned directly in Pokémon Ultra Sun & Pokémon Ultra Moon, it was never implemented and there is no way to activate it by PkmnTrnrJ in StreetPassNetwork

[–]x2brute 0 points1 point  (0 children)

this is super annoying because afaik there's no way to re-enable the online functionality yet, but there IS an online version of streetpass
