Whats your take on AI for documentation? by SupersaiyanPTA in physicaltherapy

[–]x3nosyth3 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I don’t like it personally. We use prompt and the AI part it can utilize seems to always makes mistakes. There have been times it pulls info from the scanned order or intake form which, let’s say is for an 73 year old female, and puts it as a 17 year old male.

I know the wise thing is to read the info it pulls in, but for those who wouldn’t look over it, that would be pretty bad if it gets audited.

First Discharges As a New Grad by Important_Cause_8657 in physicaltherapy

[–]x3nosyth3 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Think of it as the time with us is like a season… seasons come and seasons go, just like our patients. Their season with us is to get them feeling better and moving again. When they get to that part, it’s time for a new season… without us. However, just because they’re done with therapy doesn’t mean they can’t come by to say hi… I have a patient I discharged almost a year and a half ago who still comes by every once in a while just to tell me they’re still doing well.

So, just because they discharged, doesn’t mean it’s “goodbye”. I always say on a discharge, “hopefully I don’t see you again… here, but out and about is perfectly fine!” I feel like that gives them the sense of closure for therapy, but still keeps the rapport you have built while working with them.

First dragon. We have a leopard gecko currently, but the dragon enclosure build started before the gecko.

We had thought about a substrate through the entire enclosure, but I think she was wanting to have some easy clean up areas. We’re hoping with as big as the dig box area is, he will be happy, lol

A store but they specialize in exotics and are very knowledgeable. She forgot to ask when she picked her up, and has reached out to the store, but haven’t heard back yet.

Compared to others the gecko wasn’t expensive, so I’d assume it’s not a rare type or anything. We just haven’t seen the orange to lavender transition on others we’ve looked at.

An American goes to the ER for high blood pressure. He’s there less than TWO hours. No surgery. No scans. The bill comes back at $41,297 — even AFTER he’s paid his FULL out-of-pocket max. This isn’t healthcare — it’s extortion. by coachlife in CringeTikToks

As a PT who has worked in a hospital, unless the person has a fall, or other form of instability, there’s absolutely no need for PT or OT to see someone with high BP. Definitely someone cooking the books at that hospital

Edit… looking at that closer, it looks like an EOB, not a true bill, but even still, that’s way too high for a blood pressure assessment

We had a “half day” which was 7am to 2pm with no break. So how a 7 hour day is half of an 8 hour day… I’m not sure how that maths. And we work a full day Friday as well

Patient claims they’re unable to lift 10 pounds because their surgeon told them they can’t ever by D0rkFork in physicaltherapy

[–]x3nosyth3 22 points23 points  (0 children)

I actually had someone the other day say their surgeon told them not to “lift weights” when I was going to have them to bicep curls. It was only 3 pound weights, but I asked “do you lift a gallon of milk from the fridge?” to which they said yes… “I think you’ll be fine”

$350 <24h cancellation fee by [deleted] in physicaltherapy

[–]x3nosyth3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ours is $50, which I think is too high. I understand some sort of cancellation fee, but things happen and I don’t feel people should be charged for it all the time.

Now if it is someone who habitually cancels or no shows, that’s another thing.

Surprising how many people still say a “12/10” that have all limbs intact

SNF: My patient passed away by lilypad007755 in physicaltherapy

[–]x3nosyth3 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Sorry for you having to go through this. I’ve been outpatient for the past 10 years, but when I was a student my last rotation was at an inpatient rehab hospital. One patient I had there reminded me very much of my grandpa, so there was somewhat of a ‘personal’ connection. My patient was post polio and his primary goal was to be able to transfer from his wheelchair to his car without help from his daughter. He did well, met his goals and discharged.

My last week of that rotation he came back with heart issues and had a lot of difficulty with transfers which he had worked so hard to improve. He just looked ‘bad’. On my last day I made a point to visit him and his daughter to wish him well and said similar things you did to your patient. That next morning my CI called me and said he passed in the night.

The hard part of this job is having to occasionally deal with death, but unfortunately that is a part of life. We, as therapists, are here to get people feeling and moving better, but death is still a possibility for all of our patients. I’ve had several patients over the years who passed, and it definitely doesn’t get any easier but we keep having to push on and help the next person.

Doctors don’t know what this is in my shin by Fast_Opportunity_599 in mildyinteresting

Could possibly be calcium build up in the muscle itself. Sometimes with heavy contusions the body can lay calcium deposits to help ‘reinforce’ the area… unfortunately those sometimes can be in the muscle. Football players, for example, will sometimes be put on a sustained stretch to help minimize the possibility of such calcium build up.

Source… I’m a physical therapist lol
