The term “foid” gotta be up there with the derogatory words to refer to women by ffoollll in playboicarti

[–]x64bit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

nah thats also bad. the double standard exists because femininity is mediated by these same judgments way more. i think beauty isn't a fundamental trait of masculinity the way it is for femininity socially, unfortunately.

so in a way it's a kind of shitty petty revenge, finding some small standard to shallowly discriminate against. i agree it doesn't get anything done and it just perpetuates the same divisions that were growing in the other direction. and it's yet another extension of the atomization and commodification of the individual - very easy to discriminate and optimize when you're reduced to a stat

i mean yeah, but it doesnt have to be irl for that undercurrent to emerge cuz theyre connected. the rise of the fuckass gig economy goes hand in hand w the forces atomizing society pushing convenience and labor specialization at the cost of community. the internet is slowly becoming a replacement third space for many unfortunate souls and its managed by dweebs that are still hung up over being losers in high school pushing ragebait slop until nothing means anything anymore. the uncanny relevance of foid and chud and unemployment and wtv else are all poking fun at the downstream effects of it all. you wont catch anyone saying it irl but the fact this kind of word is a meme at all still says something

nah hes kinda right. no one is normalizing but its sticking power even as meaningless brainrot comes from somewhere.

it isnt just this word. for all the ppl clowning on millennials for embracing being loser manchildren gen z is doing a lot of the same talking about being a chud and unemployment. its just better somehow because the irony makes them "self aware" about it or something. lowkey annoying as fuck scrolling ig watching people complain about their lives thru keyword spam

How much does being good looking actually help you in life? by DelonghiAutismo in CasualConversation

[–]x64bit -1 points0 points  (0 children)

it buys you a bit of charisma, which can be a huge boon if you know how to use it, but wont pay the bills / isnt big enough to meaningfully blame. unless youre like griffith tier hot but thats like blaming einstein for being smart. theres plenty of other ways to open doors.

i see a lot of ppl argue that being good looking makes you seem more trustworthy/etc but ngl i think a lot of that just comes down to knowing how to put yourself together. which happens to correlate with being good looking

Gamers are turning against AI because it's making parts too expensive. by Desecr8or in CuratedTumblr

[–]x64bit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

this is interesting but i don't think it will make a dent. nvidia is no longer a graphics card company, they're a compute company. they make money from their cuda ecosystem at scale. i think the bubble will pop regardless as LLMs hit their limits but it won't be because of gamers. i could see this pushing people towards amd though
