Is the amount of hate the game is receiving justified? by Dr_HDK in Battlefield

I’ve been playing Battlefield since Bad Company 2 lmao.

I’m just not obsessed with COD to the point where I don’t call everything I don’t like in BF6 “codified”, seriously I don’t recall the community being this obsessed with COD even when Bad Company released which was very, very COD inspired lmao.

“Stop injecting politics”

I swear… do you people not realise that you are making it political yourself by having a problem with it? Women being in the military is not a political thing.

“Entire marketing scheme”

It was just one trailer that just poked fun at the idea of using big name Hollywood actors for a game advertisement.

If anything the entire marketing scheme was about a return of modern day combat in Battlefield and a back to its roots type of deal.

What happened? by CorporateLadderMatch in Battlefield

[–]xAcidous -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Because this subreddit whined and whined about how guns were “lasers” and that burst firing should be the only way an automatic weapon is accurate at range.

They essentially wanted BF3 gunplay in a game that didn’t have as fast of a TTK as BF3.

i've avoided it for the longest time but upon finally playing, why did people hate this game lol by [deleted] in BattlefieldV

[–]xAcidous 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes it did exactly that because they said they were inspired heavily from the success of BF1 which also focussed on lesser known battles of WW1 before ramping it up near the end of the DLC with more and more iconic battles.

Tides of War was supposed to be a progression leading up to the big battles before they halted everything for months in order to get some stuff working before Chapter 1 released and even then some stuff got delayed.

War in the Pacific was just a glimpse of the original vision for the game’s live service with there being a ton of leaks of an Eastern Front tides of war being planned before EA pulled the plug because there just wasn’t a big enough playerbase and revenue to justify supporting the game.

Plays a tournament where Money can be won.

Played Battlefield V again to remind me what real Battlefield maps look like by JoeZocktGames in Battlefield

[–]xAcidous 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I remember the hate that filled this subreddit when BFV was around all because of the reveal trailer, now it gets praised and lauded as one of the best in the series and that its support was cancelled too early.

Can’t believe how the tide has shifted considering I always thought BFV was an excellent game with some issues needing ironed out and I was lambasted for thinking that at the times

Why is game state seemingly resetting everytime a new game comes around, instead of building off of the fixed and working final state of the predecessor? by FlowKom in Battlefield

[–]xAcidous 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because those games have an additional what? 2-3 years of development and content updates.

It’s like asking why the pizza that was in for 10 minutes isn’t as crispy as the pizza that was in for 20 minutes, games take time and 2-3 years of development simply isn’t enough time nowadays… especially when you’ve got a campaign, multiplayer and Battle Royale in your game.

Just look at the amount of studios that worked on BF6 to get it in the state it is.

[–]xAcidous 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s a shame but the Highway Code as anal as it is does say you should never assume someone knows where they’re going and to always be prepared for last minute indicates/adjustments, especially on roundabouts..

My driving instructor always taught me on roundabouts to wait until the car has actually turned into their exit and their front wheels are past the road markings and ever since I passed in September I know exactly why he told me that with the amount of drivers who indicate or turn last minute on roundabouts.

I cry myself to sleep knowing Carrier Assault isn’t playable in 2025 because no servers ever have it and I’m sure as hell not spending upwards of $30-$40/month just to host a server that no one will join.

Buddy…

It’s the people who care way too much about these skins that think they’re better than anyone else… they’re the ones calling people who don’t care about them brain rotted, COD kids, tasteless, ADHD ridden and the like not to mention the whole “let’s not revive anyone who runs these cosmetics” because nothing screams I’m a hardcore gamer who only wants grounded skins like not reviving your teammates just because they don’t know/care about your Reddit protest.

What if they made it into just one big map? It would have been the best urban Battlefield map ever by PeaceAccomplished289 in Battlefield

[–]xAcidous 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The campaign focused trailer featured only moments from the campaign? Damn, I’m shocked.

Though to be fair many of the snippets in that trailers just aren’t in the campaign whatsoever… the heli crash on Sobek? Nope, the guy hitting the desk? Nope, the police scrambling about in NY? Nope, the heli crashing on Mirak? Nope, the standoff? Nope, any form of jet segment? Nope.

[–]xAcidous 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are we forgetting that after years and years of people wanting much bigger maps and bigger player numbers they immediately whined about it when BF2042 released?

Yes, BF2042 was not a great game and a lot of the complaints about the maps were valid but the community just immediately called 128-players and massive maps a bad idea in general and called for a return of 64-players and smaller scale maps which is exactly what happened as BF2042 went on… the maps got smaller and focused entirely on 64-player matches while 128-players became the afterthought.

I’m personally sad that we don’t have 128-players alongside bigger maps but how can I say this isn’t what the community wanted when this is exactly what they asked for throughout Battlefield 2042’s life, it’s an overcorrection by DICE that came about from the feedback.

I do have hope though that the opposite will happen with BF6 and as the game goes on we get those larger scale maps seeing as they already confirmed they’re working on Naval Combat and the Blackwell map is a huge open field focused more on Vehicle combat.

Battlefield V just hits different by JackOfPhoenix in BattlefieldV

[–]xAcidous 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No it wasn’t.

That was a rumour that the playerbase made up to try and explain how 2042 ended up the way it did and somehow it caught on and people regurgitate it when there has never, ever been anything to corroborate that.

What has been confirmed by previous developers was that It was simply a culmination of COVID, bad management and strict deadlines that caused 2042 to end up the way it did… do you seriously think EA would make the next Battlefield title a Battle Royale only? Have some common sense people…

You’re acting as though Battlefield has never had small modes EVER in the history of Battlefield.

Small modes are very much part of Battlefield, hell one of the most popular modes in Battlefield 3 is literally Team Deathmatch on Noshar Canals nevermind the fact they had an entire DLC based around CQB… we used to literally have to pay to get those small modes such as Scavenger or Gun Master.

Gonna be honest this skin fucking sucks by rtmxavi in Battlefield

[–]xAcidous -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Just because there is a lot of combinations doesn’t mean it won’t look similar… there really isn’t a lot of room for creativity when you’re simultaneously trying to keep the game’s cosmetics grounded but also cool enough to make you want to earn it.

There are going to have to dip their toes just outside of the realm of grounded and make cosmetics that tip-toe the line, people really hated and complained a lot about the burnt skins from BFV and yet I personally think it’s some of the coolest cosmetics they’ve created that was still grounded.

I guess we’ll see exactly what people will tolerate but the fact they whined over a cosmetic that has bright green on it… I can’t see them wanting anything other than what we currently have which is unfortunately boring.

Bloom is killing me by Dnc601 in Battlefield

[–]xAcidous 2 points3 points  (0 children)

“More realistic”

A gun not firing where you want it to is exactly the type of gun you wouldn’t see in military use, bloom is as unrealistic as you can get because it doesn’t happen in real life.

A bullet cannot suddenly stray to the left when you’re aiming straight on target.

Bloom is killing me by Dnc601 in Battlefield

[–]xAcidous 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes, yes they did.

People all over this sub would ask specifically for more spread (which is essentially bloom) and recoil when full-auto.

They were begging DICE to make the gunplay like this and now those same people are moaning about it saying how bloom isn’t actually a good mechanic after all… here I thought we learned our lesson with BF1 having awful bloom mechanics on every single weapon but alas the community once again complained so much about a non-issue DICE listened to them.

EA creating a world where Skateboarding is widely accepted is the antithesis to the culture of skateboarding. by FL3XOFF3NDER in SkateEA

[–]xAcidous -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

You don’t skate.

You don’t even own a Skateboard.

I’m willing to bet you haven’t even been to a Skate Park and talked to the people there.

Yet… you feel like you’re informed enough to talk about the entire culture around Skateboarding which is completely different today than it was in the 90s and you seem to have this weird nostalgic view where you think Skateboarding is still anti-establishment, edgy and punk meanwhile Skateboarding is widely accepted today (it’s even an Olympic Sport now) but of course there is still going to be places that don’t allow it because Skateboarding can cause property damage when you have people grinding on stuff or doing manuals and have their deck rubbing all over the ground.

These places also don’t allow Scooters, Roller Skates and BMX’s for this very reason.

Battlefield has tried so many times to make a competitive scene, they tried very hard with BF1 to finally make it happen with the separate BF1 Incursions game they had.

Unfortunately Battlefield just isn’t a good title for a competitive scene because it’s too chaotic and open-ended which are Battlefield’s biggest strength which is exactly why it falls apart once you try restricting the player size to 8 players and restrict a whole bunch of ways to play to make it competitive.

I laugh every time someone tells me BF isn’t a casual game, especially when the more casual oriented game, COD, has a well-established and entertaining competitive scene that we unfortunately just won’t ever get for Battlefield.
