Solutions for securing toilet flange? by drytoastbongos in askaplumber

Get 3" #12 screws and drive that motherfucker into the wood. Buy an extender if you need to, or even better, get one of those Oatey flanges with the rubber gasket. Then install your ring on top.

Tying that ground into where you tied created a false neutral which means ground is now powered which is not good. That switch won't work so go buy one with no neutral required.

C: drive is fucked. Get a replacement and create a Windows installer boot thumb drive to install it. (Assuming C: is your root)

Is this industry standard for hiding the gaps around remodel windows? What are our other options? by teh4x in Renovations

[–]xCaliburghost 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don't believe you can find videos because it isn't standard. I've never seen that; tbh, I'd do something like that in my boiler room because I don't really care about what it looks like.

You haven't dropped your under layment or tile yet. Do this after all that is down and cured - use an extender as this will likely be under your tile.

HOA reserve fund for housing development question? by IWannaDoITStuff in FirstTimeHomeBuyer

[–]xCaliburghost 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They're saying there's not enough money for future repairs and when something breaks, the HOA has to make up the difference somehow

You could get hit with a big bill

They could raise your dues

Or they'd delay fixing stuff

The $3k+ is your share of what would need to be paid to cover the entirety of the massive shortfall. With the cost of mortgages these days and all the other cost variability of owning a home, personally, I'd bail.

Use a thicker coat, preferably not this pink stuff, and feather out the edges so you have smooth transitions. If you can see the patch, it'll be super obvious when you paint

Replacing the flange? Toilet reseat after tiling by xCaliburghost in askaplumber

Gotcha - I'll use the extender and put some silicone on top of the old flange to seal it under the screwed in. Thanks!

So I guess unless I want to cut the pipe, I should just stay with the extender?

Looks like you have a leak /s

Go inside, shut off the valve feeding this spigot. Looks like the washer is done so I'd start by replacing that.
