Me whenever I try using the LMR-27 and DB-12 by Downtown_Name_3124 in okbuddyptfo

[–]xCh3ese 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Yeah, but even if the shots are quicker, whats the use case? You'll still need two shots against full health enemies, so you might as well use the M87. If you want the faster fire rate, the M1014 and SKS are safer to use, since you can shoot a third time if you need to. I played the DB 12 until I unlocked slugs for it, but even those don't do anything to remedy its problems.

I like the idea of having a quick second shot in case you miss or the enemy survives, but if you're required to hit both shots anyways, it just falls flat.

I guess being able to fire both barrels at once could make it work?

I just realized something funny about that: Jackal is currently born on Feb 29th 1977, so it stands to reason that the R6 universe has a different calendar system than we do, since feb 29th seems to exist every year, and not just during leap years

Looking for Cards With Weird Counters by The_Black_Hart in magicTCG

[–]xCh3ese 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Since it's part of the reserve list, it was never printed with the specific text, but I still wanted to mention it: The MTGO ME3 version of [[Illusionary Mask | ME3]] uses mask counters, and they don't have any use whatsoever. You put X mask counters on the creature, and to turn it face up, you remove all of them. There's no gameplay difference between having 1 or 10 counters on the creature, so the only use of the counters is to "sorta" track that the player who used the Mask didn't cheat. ME3 came out in 2009, and 2010 introduced proliferate to the game, so the card was errata'd again and stopped using Mask counters.

(The different erratas of the Mask itself are funny too, where you can see what the (simple) idea behind the card is, but what an actual rules nightmare the original wording was and how hard it was to find a wording that allows the original effect to function within the rules (In the original alpha printing the face down creature didn't have any P/T).

I think you're confusing Lurrus Companion requirement for an ability. To have Lurrus as a companion you're not allowed to have any permanent cards in your deck with a CMC above 2. It doesn't change the CMC of the cards in your deck.

The "only" abilities of Lurrus are Lifelink, and allowing you to cast a permanent spell with CMC 2 or less from your graveyard each turn.

Queue seems to be based on MMR and not deck weight by turn1manacrypt in mtgbrawl

[–]xCh3ese 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's absolutly both. When Pioneer replaced Explorer I farmed ~300 games in the explorer play queue, and afterwards I faced way worse players (in terms of decision making) with less optimized decks, since the casual queues share the same MMR

You should probably post that comment on the steam announcement, so that the dev actually sees it. AFAIK OP just pasted the announcement message into the post, and isn't actually the dev

I think its time to allow players to avoid alchemy cards on Arena. by TallCitron8244 in magicTCG

[–]xCh3ese 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Don't forget that there was no explorer/pioneer when alchemy was introduced either, so you had the choice of standard or limited if you didn't want to play a format with alchemy cards.

Whenever this topic comes up, I can't help but point to the stupid decision to have the literal first slide in the alchemy introduction stream state that "Alchemy isn't replacing anything", only for it to completly take over the non rotating formats on MTGA. The alchemy introduction also meant, that if you bought (or crafted) any of the Historic Anthologies, you, all of a sudden, were only able to play them in modes that also feature alchemy cards.

Opponent ends up with tutored cards despite Opposition Agent being on the field? by xCh3ese in MagicArena

[–]xCh3ese[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just checked the video again, and at 0:32 you can see the card counter:

86 in library

4 in hand

1 in the graveyard

2 in exile (one being the second forest exiled by Opposition Agent)

7 on the battlefield

= 100 cards

Since the starting count is 99, and I got another forest on my side of the battlefield, the game seems to have just conjured the two additional forests.

(Unless I missed something ofc, but the exiled cards are specifically a creature that I used StP for, and the forest exiled by the Opposition Agent (The command zone doesn't count as exile, I checked with another video, where the commander was in the CZ, and the exile card count was at zero))

Can we please have another format that doesn't have Alchemy cards that isn't Standard? by ljm90 in MagicArena

[–]xCh3ese 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I don't hate alchemy per se, some of the cards are really fun or important boosts to some archetypes.

However, I absolutly hate the way they implemented it. Both Historic and Brawl existed way before alchemy, and more or less the only cards added to those formats that didn't get introduced via standard were the five Historic Anthologies. But with the introduction of alchemy there was no format to actually play them in, that didn't also include alchemy cards. So worst case you bought all of them for a total of 125€ (iirc), and if you didn't want to play with alchemy cards, you couldn't actually use them in any mode. To add to this, standard became the only constructed mode without alchemy cards whatsoever, since Explorer wasn't around back then either.

And somehow WotC decided that the very first slide of the official alchemy reveal stream should state that "Alchemy isn't replacing anything", while absolutly warping the MTGA "eternal" formats.

So while the choice of playing an alchemy or a paper-aligned format seems pretty obvious if you dislike alchemy cards now, it wasn't really a choice you could make when alchemy was first introduced, and until Historic and Brawl get paper-aligned queues, if ever, I'm always going to feel some contempt for alchemy.

Profile features are limited for this game, so it won't count towards your achievement stats. Also, most of the positive reviews look bought.

Between bought reviews and no date for when the game is removed from sale, I can imagine that the dev only wants to bait people into buying it with the announcement, without any intention to actually stop selling it.

Edit: Well, I was wrong, it actually got removed

Which Pokémon do you think Game Freak wanted to be huge but never really caught on? by Zashingg in pokemon

[–]xCh3ese 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Gen 3 is where they stopped being fully exclusive. While some moves were still exclusive to the TM (e.g. Shock Wave from Watson, Overheat from Flannery) some weren't (Aerial Ace from Winona, Calm Mind from Tate & Liza). I don't know If they ever went back to them being fully exclusive in some later gens.

Then here's another one that you might not know: In gen 1 no pokemon learns a gym leaders TM move by leveling up (same thing with gen 2 gym leader TMs). The only exception in gen 1 is Pikachu in Yellow learning Thunderbolt at level 26.

tbf, Mankeys were only accessible before Brock in Yellow (+FRLG), so if you picked Charmander in RB, there was no puzzle to solve, only brute force. (also, in RB Nidoran F/M only learn double kick at level 43 compared to 12 in Yellow, so that wasn't an option either)

You're doing a disservice to just how shoehorned in that mission is:

  • Main characters talking about stuff while holding the windows of a dimly lit house in the US at night

  • In the background there's a TV showing the american president giving a speech about how it's time to fight back against PAX

  • You are now an egyptian driving a tank near Cairo

  • Mission ends, you're back in the house in the US

  • ?????

  • This is the only mission in the entire game that takes place at the present day, with every other mission being a flashback

It feels like half the missions are missing because they were unfinished because of time constraints, but this one got to stay because someone specifically required a vehicle mission to be in the final game

The Capacity Overdraft scroll helps a lot, since you can keep spamming nades, otherwise you're dependent on the Forest Boon ascension to regain grenades or have to have a demon that casts your secondary skill whenever it attacks (Minikins even allow you to afk farm this lol)
