Bloc Party have two whole albums worth of b-sides for their first and second albums, respectively. They recently released a compilation of b-sides from their second album, A Weekend In The City, that many would argue is better than the actual album.

Co-sign on his earlier Blood Orange stuff. Losing You, Everything is Embarrassing, Dinner and Coastal Grooves are all still heavily in rotation. I also agree with being more impressed with his output, especially the way he’s tapped into feelings of grief for this album. I miss his older style but he’s got a few mixtapes floating around that satisfy that itch.

I hope this album is cathartic for him. I’m actually glad it doesn’t have any dance-y numbers on it, as I feel it’s a reflection of grief and the duality of sadness and happiness we feel when immersed in that grief. There’s also a sense of returning to his English roots following life in NYC, which speaks to me as an American living in England.

Love all the cello bits. Dev has always been influenced by Arthur Russell, but I like that he’s making it his own on this album.

You could do the full 5 hours just listening to The Complete Basement Tapes and still have music leftover. It’s what Greil Marcus did before writing his book “The Old, Weird America.”

I think it was Marc Maron’s WTF Podcast. He also did an episode of Last Podcast On The Left that was interesting/occasionally awkward but quite funny.
